Pat Surtain shares his take on Bo Nix on Marshawn Lynch's podcast
Last month, Denver Broncos star cornerback Pat Surtain went on the "Get Got Pod" with Marshawn Lynch and Mike Robinson to discuss, among other topics, second-year quarterback Bo Nix. Nix surpassed 4,200 yards from scrimmage and scored 34 touchdowns last season while helping the Broncos go 10-7 and reach the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Surtain, who was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year last season, came away impressed with his new quarterback. "He came in already like mature -- you know what I mean, like league-ready," Surtain told Lynch and Robinson. "Because he had all the intangibles. Like he could throw, he could run, he's smart. Seeing it live in effect, man, it was a pleasure to watch. ... He has a lot more room to grow, too, so that's the good thing about it. And he's very confident. I just see how, you know, his leadership really struck out, like how he's able to take command of the offense, take command of the locker room. You know, as a rookie, and putting that on his back, that's a testament to him and the type of player he is. To go out there as a rookie and put on the year that he had and showcase his ability, going to the playoffs, I think that's huge for him. And it's only going to build his confidence even more." It didn't take long for Surtain to realize last spring that Nix was a special player. "I could vividly remember ... one of his first passes in OTAs, he threw a no-look dime across the middle," Surtain recalled. "So that just goes to show you the type of player he is. And I'm looking forward to it again." Nix and Surtain are set to return to Broncos Park Powered by CommonSpirit next week for the start of training camp. The team's first preseason game (Aug. 9) is less than a month away (full preseason schedule). Nix and Surtain will look to build on their impressive 2024 seasons this fall. Kay Adams Doesn't Hold Back About Broncos QB Bo Nix
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The 2025 NFL season is about to pick up steam with teams beginning training camp in about a week. Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos are going to enter the upcoming campaign as one of the most intriguing teams in the league. Last season, the Broncos made a surprising run to the playoffs. Led by their rookie quarterback Nix, Denver finished the year with a 10-7 record. Unfortunately, the Broncos were unable to pull off a win in the Wild Card round of the playoffs against the Buffalo Bills, but the future is extremely bright. During a segment on her "Up & Adams Show," Adams spoke out boldly about the Broncos' second-year quarterback. She is clearly expecting a year two leap from Nix. "Bo Nix, 4,000-plus [passing] yards. I like this one a lot. ... Once Bo got comfy last year, he completely lit it up. If you take his final 10 [games] of the year and pace that out over a full season, that is a 4,300-yard, 41-touchdown pace," Adams said. "And now he's got more weapons as he heads into year two. Give me all the Bo Nix stock for 2025." What weapons did Denver add for Nix during the 2025 NFL offseason? The Broncos went out and added tight end Evan Engram, running backs J.K. Dobbins and RJ Harvey, and wide receiver Pat Bryant. Add those talented players to a group that has Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr., and Troy Franklin and the offense looks even better. He completed 66.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while also picking up 430 yards and scoring four touchdowns on the ground. At just 25 years old, Nix is one of the top up-and-coming quarterbacks in the NFL. He has the potential to become a legitimate superstar and has the Broncos looking like a legitimate contender once again. Denver will start off the 2025 NFL season with a Week 1 matchup at home against the Tennessee Titans on September 7. For more Denver Broncos and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.

Broncos' All-Pro guard Quinn Meinerz impressed by QB Bo Nix's improvement
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix received glowing reviews from his teammates throughout his rookie season, and after an offseason to recharge, Nix should be poised to take another step forward in 2025. 'I've said it over and over again, [I've] been impressed [by Nix] every single week," Broncos All-Pro guard Quinn Meinerz said after the 2024 season wrapped up. "He continued to show improvement, and I think that's the only thing you can really ask for from a young player. Players at any position are trying to improve. I'm excited for him. "That rookie year is kind of tough. You have your college season, you have the pre-draft stuff, you have Combine training and then you go through an NFL season. I'm excited for him to get some time off. That's what he needs right now is to get some time off to reset a little bit because the next season will be here quickly.' Nix played through a back injury last season, and he opted out of the Pro Bowl to undergo ankle surgery after the season. Despite those ailments, Nix had an incredibly impressive rookie season, and he's now fully healthy going into Year 2. It seems fair to expect Nix to continue trending up in 2025. Broncos' Bo Nix Receives Eye-Opening Take From Former NFL QB
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Denver Broncos made a strong run during the 2024 NFL season. Led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix, the Broncos were one of the biggest surprises in the league and made it all the way to the playoffs and finished the regular season with a 10-7 record. While they lost in the Wild Card round to the Buffalo Bills, the future looks incredibly bright for Denver. Nix lived up to the hype that surrounded him entering his first season. He not only played well, but was the clear-cut leader for the team. More PhotoHeading into his second NFL season, Nix is not being slept on. Now that the league knows what he's capable of, the expectations are beginning to rise. Read more: Late Offseason Warning Could Spark Broncos' Next Roster Move Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III has now spoken out about Nix. He is clearly expecting a big second season from the former Oregon standout. In a post on X, Griffin did not hold back about his opinion of Nix. "After watching all of his film from last year, Bo Nix is the most underrated QB in the NFL," Griffin said. Griffin may very well be right. Nix isn't talked about as a top quarterback in the NFL yet, but he might become that kind of player during the 2025 campaign. As a rookie in 2024, Nix played in all 17 regular season games. He completed 66.3 percent of his pass attempts for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while also running for 430 yards and four more touchdowns. Playing for a head coach like Sean Payton is a young quarterback's dream. The work that Payton put in with legendary quarterback Drew Brees is very well known. It will be interesting to see what Nix is able to do when facing higher expectations. He still has a talented offseason around him, although there are some who believe the Broncos should still target another weapon for the second-year quarterback. Regardless of what happens in the 2025 NFL season, Denver has a franchise quarterback on the roster. Hopefully, he's able to take the next step and the Broncos are able to not just make the playoffs, but also win a playoff game or more. You'll never guess what record Bo Nix just broke with Eli Manning
Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix just set another record! But not on the football field. Nix (and his dad, Patrick Nix) teamed up with two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning this week to set a Guinness World Record for the most rolls of toilet paper thrown. Yes, that's real. Advertisement It's a tradition at Auburn following a big win to "roll" the trees at Toomer's Corner. So, for an upcoming episode of Eli's Places on ESPN+, the ex-Ole Miss quarterback recruited a pair of former Auburn QBs -- Bo and Patrick -- to help him break a record. They set a record with 7,525 rolls of toilet paper thrown on Tuesday: 'This is special," Eli said of the event, via Jennifer Santiago of The Auburn Plainsman. "This is unbelievable. I know we have a lot of incoming freshmen that are here today. This will be, kind of, your first official rolling of Toomer's Corner as a student here at Auburn, so I'm excited for that." Advertisement Eli, despite playing college football at Ole Miss, was welcomed on campus for the record-breaking day. '(The Alabama governor has) an official plaque, so we're setting the record," he said. "It'll be a great day. This is a thrill for one of the great traditions in college football, the rolling of Toomer's Corner. I know y'all will have many more opportunities to do it this year, so this is just the first of many, especially for you freshmen out there.' Former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix shows Eli Manning the proper technique to throwing roll Toomers during the filming of the ESPN show Eli’s Places at Toomer’s Corner in Auburn, Ala. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Nix spent the first three years of his college career at Auburn before transferring to Oregon. He was picked by the Broncos in the first round of last year's NFL draft and had an impressive rookie season. Nix has now helped break another record, albeit an unconventional one.
