‘David Dhawan doesn't ‘have the guts' to talk to me about ‘Chunari Chunari' remake,' says Abhijeet Bhattacharya: ‘Copies are sold more than the original'
Over the past weekend, as clips from the shoot of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur, were circulated on the internet, fans of the Biwi No 1 song 'Chunari Chunari' were not pleased. The clips being circulated saw Varun, Mrunal and Pooja dancing to a revamped version of the song and fans, as they often are, did not sound pleased with another one of their childhood favourites getting a revamp. Now, singer of the original song Abhijeet Bhattacharya has said that he was not told that the song is getting revamped for another film. He also said that even though this was a hit song back in the 90s, he never counted it among his 'great songs.' In a chat with HT City, Abhijeet said that no one told him about the revamp and added that they 'don't have the guts' to inform him either. He said, 'Mujhe music composer, film ke director kisi ne nahi bataya ki iss song ko remake kiya jaa raha hai. Himmat bhi nahi kar sakte batane ki. (Music composer, director, no one told me that the song is being remade. They don't have the guts to tell me.)' The original song was composed by Anu Malik and was sung by Anuradha Sriram, along with Abhijeet. It was filmed on Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen. Biwi No 1 was directed by David Dhawan, and so is Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The title of the film is also taken from the lyrics of Biwi No 1's song 'Ishq Sona Hai.' Abhijeet added that for him, 'Chunari Chunari' was never a good song. 'For me personally, 'Chunari Chunari' was not a great song, never. It was one of those 'jaldi gaao aur bhaago studio se (quickly sing and get out of the studio)' song. I never count it among my great songs. This was one of those where the makers just wanted the lyrics to become a hit somehow,' he said. He told the publication, 'For the past 25 years I have heard it being played at functions, parties, and would always think, 'What is it about the song? There was nothing that I remember from the time I sang it'. But I do realise it has become iconic for fans.' Abhijeet was then asked about his reaction to the remake and he said, 'Mujhe farak nahi padhta itni chhoti cheez se (I don't care about such small things). I don't get involved much. In the market, copies are sold more than the original. Only great people know the value of the original. Tuchhi cheez mein main padhta hi nahi hoon (I don't get involved in petty things).'

Morgan Wallen Charts New No. 1 Hits Just Before His Billboard Takeover
In just a few days, Morgan Wallen will almost surely debut at No. 1 on multiple Billboard rankings with his upcoming album I'm the Problem. The project will likely reach the summit on every tally for which it's eligible, and it could generate No. 1 hits across several song rosters — potentially even including the Hot 100. But ahead of his dominating the weekly rankings, Wallen secures a pair of new champions on a handful of Billboard lists, thanks to one final pre-release track. Just before I'm the Problem arrived in full, Wallen shared another tune, which was meant to further generate excitement among American fans. 'Superman,' chosen as the final promotional single, has already become a quick success on two Billboard tallies. The tune launches atop both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales charts this week. Coincidentally, 'Superman' earns Wallen his seventeenth No. 1 on both the Country Streaming Songs and Country Digital Song Sales charts. He's now amassed 43 placements inside the top 10 on the sales-only list and collected 37 top 10 hits on the ranking of the most-streamed country tracks in America. 'Superman' also debuts inside the top 10 on three other Billboard tallies, in addition to the rankings where it starts at No. 1. It opens at No. 3 on the Digital Song Sales chart, thanks to 4,000 pure purchases, according to Luminate. The track also enters the Streaming Songs and Hot Country Songs rankings at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. 'Superman' falls just shy of reaching the top 10 on the Hot 100, but it doesn't miss the highest tier by much. Wallen's latest offering flies in at No. 16. He's already collected half a dozen top 10 smashes from I'm the Problem, and two other cuts from the set peaked inside the top 20 – and all of them hit the list before the album dropped. Wallen's latest release is one of five tracks from the country star currently charting on the Hot 100 — and it's his highest-ranking among them.

Yo-Yo Ma: Shostakovich review — the superstar cellist holds back too much
It will soon be 11 years since Andris Nelsons became the Boston Symphony Orchestra's music director. His current contract includes an 'evergreen clause' allowing for automatic renewal. Throughout, he's conducted and recorded much Shostakovich, in performances varying between the probably evergreen and the disappointingly deciduous. This new release, recorded live in 2023, teams Nelsons with the superstar cellist Yo-Yo Ma in the cello concertos, worried creations from the late 1950s and 60s. Evergreen interpretations? Deciduous? Frustratingly, they're aspects, notable from No 1's opening thrusts, include the powerful and subtly inflected tone of Ma's cello. Nelsons's orchestra is just as impressive, whether it's the shrieking winds in No 1 or the horn fanfares and ghostly whisperings of No 2. Interplay between soloist and orchestra

Older world feel in great spot
THERE'S a lovely, older world feel to No 1 Vandeville, a period era end-terrace home at the start of Cork city's Ballinlough Road. It's near St Finbarr's Hospital, the reinvigorated bar the Southern Star, new cafes at Capwell Road and Bellair Estate, a Tesco Express, and is a 10- or 15-minute walk to the city centre: its location knocks it out of the park for southside, easy suburban convenient living. Likely to date to about 1900, it's the first of a terrace of four compact charmers, each with railed front gardens, bay windows, slate roof, and red brick chimneystacks, and it's the only one of the four with side access to its rear garden. It's new to market with estate agent James G Coughlan, with a €360,000 AMV: that's what nearby No 4 went up for sale at, back in 2019 when it featured in these pages, and it sold by early 2020 for a recorded €352,000. Time has moved on in the near-five years since, as has the market, but the pricing is at this similar point because No 4 had had slight extension work and general upgrades done to it, with size put at 1,1,00 sq ft when it appeared in these pages. In contrast, No 1 is put at just 66 sq m or just over 700 sq ft, by Jim Coughlan, and he adds that it needs modernisation: it comes with an E2 BER right now (No 4 was similar, with an E1 BER.) Nos 1 and 2 have original sash windows, looking lovely in their bays, and from the front door in No 1 has loads of original features, hall tiling, varnished floors, stripped pine doors, and original fireplaces too, in the front living room and in all three bedrooms. It's got black period style central heating radiators and the bath is a huge cast iron one, with green enamel inside and a looped shower curtain above. 'This gem will appeal to the discerning buyer who is looking for something timeless and different,' says Mr Coughlan adding that it's got a great back garden (running back along one of the two entrances to Marble Hall Lawn) with gated side access from its railed front. VERDICT: Loads of originality.
