Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll reveals what he really thinks of Noel and Liam Gallagher 30 years after bitter feud saw him sacked from the band
Former Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll has revealed what he really thinks of Noel and Liam Gallagher - 30 years after a bitter feud saw him sacked from the band. The musician, 53, who is still based in Manchester, lost his place in the band forever when an argument in 1995 ended in him telling Noel to f*** off. He has since made a career through his time in Oasis, describing himself on his Instagram bio as 'the former Oasis drummer' who does podcasts, Q and A's and public speaking. But after missing out on this year's tour and a £400 million reunion windfall, Tony gave his thoughts on his sacking and revealed how he feels about the famous brothers. Speaking to The Sun at Red Studios in North Shields, Tony said: 'Would I sit down and have a cup of tea, a Rich Tea, with Noel, and go, "What the f**k happened, mate?". I would.' He recalled being booted out of the band after keeping the frontman 'awake all night' when he had an argument with a girl, which Noel heard through his hotel room walls. Tony insists that despite being handed his P45 just weeks after the showdown in soundcheck, he doesn't regret standing up for himself after Noel threatened him with the sack. Sharing his thoughts on Liam, he revealed: 'Everyone thinks Liam's a nutcase, but he's a shockingly nice guy. 'A lot of that stuff is bravado. It might be nervousness, something about him where he just can't deal with whatever it is, people in his face.' In an interview with the Daily Mail after news of Oasis' reunion first broke last summer, Tony insisted: 'I'm happy for Noel and Liam. Really happy for them. And I'm dead happy for the fans more than anything and for those generations who haven't seen Oasis.' His bitter rift with Noel ended in him suing the frontman in the High Court, claiming he was owed £15 million in royalties - and eventually settled for £550,000. With his nemesis Noel with a net worth of £53m before this year's tour - while Tony lives half a world away in the relative modesty of a £200k semi-detached in South Manchester which still has a mortgage, he could be forgiven for bearing a grudge. But speaking exclusively to Daily Mail from his mother's hometown of Kinnetty, Ireland he insisted that he doesn't. Tony revealed that his former bandmates had not yet been in touch with him, and explained 'They haven't reached out yet and to be honest I'm not holding my breath. 'Would I consider being involved? I don't know. At the end of the day I'm not the only ex-member left behind, so I'll just crack on. 'I haven't made up my mind if I'm going to watch them play next year either. I was at their last ever gig in the UK at the V Festival. It's weird and ironic that I was there at the first and last gig. 'I think we all knew it was going to happen and it had to happen. Whether it's been a blag for 15-years I haven't got a clue. 'They're brothers at the end of the day - maybe their mum Peggy clashed their heads together and said "sort it out". 'I wasn't shocked when they announced the reunion. I've been saying for years it was going to happen, but I actually thought it'd be this year. I thought they'd do it to mark the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe. 'They're an exciting band, they know how to bring excitement to the table.' Writing in his 2010 book, Oasis: The Truth, he dubbed him 'The Lord Mayor of Loneliness' despite his vast wealth and wrote: 'I guess Noel's life story just shows how you can have it all yet still not have enough.' Nearly 15-years on from the book, Tony's views on his one-time nemesis Noel have softened and he says he would like to meet up again. He said: 'I last saw Liam just before Christmas and it was all hugs and kisses with him. 'We're not on the phone to each other but the relationship is amicable, we're all good. 'I'd seen him at the Supersonic film a little while before and he sat me down so that it was just me and him and we talked until it became a bit on top with all these people coming over to see what was going on. 'I've not spoken to Noel in a while, but I'd love to see all of them again. It would be lovely if something nice happened, but I don't expect anything. If it does, then great, nice ending to it all.'

'I thought they were just another band'
Ahead of their reunion shows in Croke Park in August, Dave Fanning presents a new three-part RTÉ Radio 1 series looking back on his interviews with Oasis Dave Fanning is recalling the first time he ever heard a hotly tipped new band from Manchester called Oasis. It was April 1994 and the five-piece led by two saturnine looking brothers called Noel and Liam had just released their debut single, an extremely impressive opening gambit entitled Supersonic. It was the start of something very, very big - but one Irish tasty maker didn't see it coming and he's the first to admit it. "I thought they were just another band," says Fanning, who has seen plenty of 'just another bands' come and go over his fifty years as a DJ and music fanatic. "I didn't jump at it and say their first album is the greatest album ever made. I had no idea." Funny how things turn out because starting at 6pm this Saturday on RTÉ Radio 1, the DJ and wireless veteran presents The Fanning Files: Oasis, a new three-part series looking back on his many meetings with the Mancunian super stars. Over the course of three episodes to be aired ahead of the band's reunion shows at Croke Park, Fanning will revisit the interviews he did with the band and the solo Gallagher brothers over the years - starting in 1994 and going all the way to 2024. "The first interview we did in the studio in 2fm in September 1994 just before the first album was released," Fanning recalls. "Bonehead and Noel did two live numbers - a very good version of Slide Away and the other was Live Forever, which Mojo magazine later put at No 1 in the top fifty Oasis songs ever." Fanning was to meet Oasis many times over the next thirty years and Noel remains one the funniest and sharpest men he's ever met. "He is fantastic!" says Fanning. "He's quick, he's smart, he knows how to tell a good story and he knows how to slag the brother in a way that is really quite warm and nice. "Liam is street smart and he's a bit mad but he's pretty cool but Noel is very together, very quick. He's well able to talk and he knows that he likes and he'll say it straight out." Anyone who remembers what was going on in rock 'n' roll back in the early nineties will know the wild success of Oasis wasn't just down to Noel's talent for penning football terrace anthems with Slade-sized choruses. "It was pretty obvious that it was going to happen," says Fanning. "It was perfect because Oasis were yobs! People were crying out for an in your face rock 'n' roll band. Oasis gave us that and maybe they were the last rock 'n' roll band. "It's all about lads throwing their arms around each other. Does that mean I love it? Give me Nick Cave or even Blur any day . . . " So, was he, to ask the question of the day back then, Oasis or Blur. "I would have been Blur." And way back in 1994, was Dave Fanning, who turns 70 next year, mad fer it? "Ehhhh, no. I was probably too old to be mad for it," he laughs. "I didn't buy the right hat or walk the right way but I did enjoy all that. I always enjoy a movement - like Madchester and Grunge and Liverpool, a hundred years ago." Of course, some might say that after two very good albums with Definitely Maybe and What's The Story (Morning Glory)?, Oasis very quickly calcified into dad rock bloat. "One of the interviews we have on the series is from 1997 for their third album, Be Here Now, and Oasis are on top of the world, the biggest selling rock act in the world," recalls Fanning. "And you can feel it - Be Here Now wasn't all that great, the songs are way too long, all the orchestra stuff is nonsensical, every song is six minutes long and they should be three minutes. You can see the overindulgence." The Fanning Files: Oasis will include contributions from Liam and Noel Gallagher, Bonehead, Andy Bell, Alan McGee and the band's original drummer Tony McCarroll. There will be stories, banter and anecdotes, including Noel's own story of why he walked away from it all at that Rock en Seine Paris gig back in '09. And, of course, Fanning will be in Croke Park to witness Oasis' first Irish shows in 16 years on 16 and 17 of August. ""Yes, I'll be there but I'm not looking so forward to it like everybody else is with their arms around each other, drinking pints," he says. "The thing is, Oasis don't put on a show. Look at Chris Martin, he really knows how to bring in the whole audience. Oasis do nothing! Your man stands there with his hands behind his back. "I went to see that covers band No-asis and your man stands there with his hands behind his back but when Noel is doing his solo songs, he ambles over and headbutts him! And the place goes wild." He adds, "Last Friday I went to the Purty Loft in Dun Laoghaire to see a David Bowie tribute act. Saturday and Sunday, I was at Billie Eilish. I also went to Coldplay in Croker last year - and they are for girls!"

Tom Cruise Attends Band's Concert Years After They Threw Out Devastating Insults
Tom Cruise seems to be on good terms with a band that once called the actor a 'bastard' and insulted his entire filmography. The 'Top Gun' star was pictured at an Oasis concert over the weekend, nearly 20 years after brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher went off on the movie star in a 2007 documentary. 'He's a little fucker, and he's not been in one good film in his entire career,' Noel said in the documentary, called 'Lord Don't Slow Me Down.' Liam added, 'I hate Tom Cruise. Bastard.' But all seemed fine between the three now, as Cruise was all smiles at the reunion concert in a picture shared on social media. Cruise attended the concert with his rumored new love interest, fellow actor Ana de Armas. Goldie posted this picture on Instagram with Tom Cruise at Oasis' gig in Wembley yesterday. — Latest Oasis News (@scyhodotcom) July 26, 2025 The Gallaghers have famously feuded with nearly everyone ― including each other. The brothers disbanded in 2009 after a massive blow-up, and publicly insulted each other for years afterwards. Liam Gallagher was once asked by LA Weekly if he would reunite with his brother for an Oasis tour, and he gave a blistering answer in return. 'I'd rather eat my own shit than be in a band with him again,' the musician told the outlet in 2011. 'He's a miserable little fuck, if you know what I mean. But if the fans want it, though, I'd do it.' Fifteen years after breaking up, the brothers finally announced they'd made up and were going on tour together. 'The guns have fallen silent,' Oasis said in their announcement. 'The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.' Related... Oasis drummer Tony McCarroll reveals real reason he was sacked from band & makes surprise admission about Liam Gallagher
HE famously got the sack from Oasis in 1995 – less than a year after the band released their massive debut album, Definitely Maybe. And now former drummer Tony McCarroll admits he would definitely love to make amends with Noel Gallagher, who was the one to give him the boot. 9 At a fan event in Newcastle, Tony, said: 'Would I sit down and have a cup of tea, a Rich Tea, with Noel, and go, 'What the fk happened, mate?'. I would.' Recalling the clash that saw him sacked, Tony said: 'There was an incident in Paris. I was next door to Noel's hotel room, which I didn't know. 'I had an argument with some girl I was with and the next day we were doing the soundcheck. 'I just finished my bit, and he turned around and, in front of everybody, he went, 'You fing keep me awake again, you're getting fing sacked, mate'. 'Probably the most stupid thing I've ever done in my life, but I fronted him and said, 'You won't f*ing speak to me like that again, no chance'. It was only a matter of weeks later I got the P45.' Although the row meant Tony was kicked out of the band, he insists he doesn't regret standing up for himself, adding: 'What sort of man would it make me if I didn't? "Everybody was under threat every day, but it was just bravado. 'I never saw it being something serious like losing your position in the band.' While Tony, who these days teaches drumming, has not spoken to Noel since their clash, he said he's been in touch with Liam and guitarist Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs. 'Everyone thinks Liam's a nutcase, but he's a shockingly nice guy,' Tony explained. Incredible on stage footage shows thousands of Oasis fans going wild at sold out Wembley gig 'A lot of that stuff is bravado. It might be nervousness, something about him where he just can't deal with whatever it is, people in his face.' He added of being left behind as the band rocketed to fame: 'If the roles were swapped, what do you do? You keep going. 'They were on the way to superstardom, the stadium gigs forever.' Tony has not yet seen Oasis on their sellout reunion tour, which will see them play Wembley Stadium tonight and at the weekend. But the musician, who drummed on all of Definitely Maybe, as well as hit singles Whatever and Some Might Say, is still immensely proud of his role. Tony said: 'I wish I had a few more quid, but I've got to be proud and happy that I've made my mark. 'We were The Beatles of the Nineties. It was mayhem.' 9 NEW TUNE'S NO RAYE OF SUNSHINE 9 RAYE looks hot here but she's been taking inspiration from the cold for her new album. The Escapism singer posed in a black swimsuit on Instagram as she opened up about how 'personal aches and pains' have helped her new song The Winter Woman. It is expected to feature on the follow-up to her 2023 debut album My 21st Century Blues, which won her six Brit Awards, as she admitted that her sadness means her new record is now starting to take shape. She explained: 'I know it's July, but I've been writing this song called The Winter Woman. 'The sad feelings we wrestle with do make great songs I think, and considering this seems to be a chapter in my life where I am swimming through some personal aches and pains, I'd say this album is now beginning to move swimmingly. 'Every cloud . . . lots of love Raye.' ANNE'S READY FOR THE RE-RUN 9 ANNE HATHAWAY looks like she's running away from a really bad smell, or an incoming bing while filming The Devil Wears Prada sequel. The actress, who plays Runway assistant Andrea Sachs, was seen hot-footing down a road in New York for one scene. And I've no doubt she was legging it from her mega-bitch boss Miranda Priestly, played by the brilliant Meryl Streep. The pair are reprising their roles, alongside Stanley Tucci's Nigel Kipling, for the follow-up to the hit 2006 film. As a young reporter, The Devil Wears Prada was one of my favourite films, and it taught me a lot. Always be kind, always be on time and whatever you do – don't be an Emily . . . JULIA STILL IN VOGUE FOR BIOPIC 9 OZARK actress Julia Garner has revealed Madonna 's long-awaited movie biopic IS still in the works – despite the fact Madge is also working on a TV series about her life. Julia was rumoured to have been cast as the Vogue singer – and even joined her on stage during the Celebration Tour in 2023. She admitted she learnt to dance for the audition and added: 'I had to convince Madonna that I can dance and sing, and sing with her.' On how she channelled the music legend, she told the SmartLess podcast: 'I thought, what would Madonna do? Which is convince you that she deserved to be in this room.' ALESHA'S IN IT FOR THE LOVE 9 ALESHA DIXON is already back in the studio working on new tunes – just a year after dropping her comeback single Ransom. The Britain's Got Talent judge shared a video of herself recording a new song in a London music studio i with fans on Instagram. It's been ten years since Alesha's last album, Do It For Love, and last year she told Bizarre's Howell she's just putting out the tunes she wants to make. Alesha, right, said. 'I'm an independent artist so it's a lot, energetically, for me to put myself back out there. 'At this point in my life and career, it's just about what makes me feel good.' With October marking a decade since Do It For Love, we're really hoping that she'll release something to coincide with the anniversary. LULU is returning to the stage in a new musical of To Sir, With Love, 58 years after starring in the original movie with Sidney Poitier. She will star in two shows on November 24 at London's Gillian Lynne Theatre. It will feature her original title track, the highest-selling song of 1967, which reached No 1 in the US. IT'S A CLAP ON THE BACK FROM PAUL 9 SIR PAUL McCARTNEY started clapping before he'd even walked into the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts graduation awards. The Beatles legend was seen greeting fans outside the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall before helping to honour a number of leading figures in the entertainment world who were made LIPA companions yesterday. The Wombats, who met and formed at LIPA, were honoured by Paul during the ceremony, along with actors James Nesbitt and Adrian Lester. Paul also handed out an honour to movie director Sam Mendes. It's certainly perfect timing for the pair to get together, with Sam's four film biopics about the Fab Four currently in pre-production. From what I've heard, the films are already coming together brilliantly, with stars, Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn and Barry Keoghan preparing to start filming in the coming months. ZARA'S HOT TIFF TRACK ZARA LARSSON has worked with everyone from MNEK to David Guetta and Clean Bandit. Now the Swedish singer has lined up a very surprising collaboration – and I think it will go down a storm with her fans. Insiders have told me Zara has called on reality TV sensation Tiffany 'New York' Pollard for a new single called Hot And Sexy. She became an internet sensation on a series of shows in the US before a stint on Celebrity Big Brother here in 2016, where she clashed with Gemma Collins. She also went viral during her infamous 'David's dead' breakdown, where she mistakenly believed their housemate David Gest had died, after Angie Bowie told her that her ex-husband, rock star David, had passed away. A source said: 'Zara is a big fan of Tiffany's and has seen the cultural significance of what she does. 'On TikTok, Tiffany is off the charts and Zara approached her to see if she wanted to team up. 'Tiff helped write the track as well as singing alongside Zara on it. 'It's such a fun, upbeat song – it's going to be massive. 'Zara had so much fun working with her. 'They're going to be firm friends for life.' Tiff is outspoken, feisty and isn't afraid to tell you exactly what she's thinking. I'm here for this new pop star era, and you can bet her fans will lose their minds when Hot And Sexy drops. NET CATFISH FREE TICKETS CATFISH AND THE BOTTLEMEN fans have been snapping up tickets for their homecoming show in Cardiff on Friday – after they were given away for free. The Welsh band have struggled to fill the city's Principality Stadium, with Ticketmaster teaming up with voucher websites to get bums on seats. Fans clamoured to grab their tickets, with one writing on a ticket deal website: 'Never see many of these in the principality stadium, bagged 3 tickets.' Another wrote: 'Bloody hell, going but should have waited. 'Great band and an absolute no brainer at this price.' Fans are now keeping a close eye on this Sunday's gig at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, as plenty of seats are still available. I expect Ticketmaster will be dishing out the same freebie codes too.

Good Morning Britain halted for breaking news as viewers left outraged
Good Morning Britain's regular programming was halted for a tragic breaking news alert on Tuesday morning, with North America correspondent Noel Phillips appearing from the scene. The reporter was live from New York City following a harrowing shooting. While Ed Balls and Charlotte Hawkins were presenting as they stepped in for regular host Susanna Reid, reporter Marverine Cole took over to announce the breaking news. Marverine stated: "In breaking news, a police officer is among four people killed in a shooting in a skyscraper in New York City." "The gunman was armed with an assault rifle and carried out the attack in broad daylight before turning the gun on himself inside the building,' she explained before turning to Noel via video link. Noel went on to explain that the gunman was a 27-year-old-male, named Shane Tamura, before going on to say that he had driven over 2,000 miles across America, from Nevada to New York City, to carry out a "brazen and deadly attack". As he continued, Noel clarified: "He walked inside that building and first attacked an off-duty police officer who was working as a security guard." "We also understand the shooter then made his way towards the elevator, where he shot two more civilians, before then travelling to the 33rd floor where he killed a woman, before later turning the gun on himself," he stated. Noel went on to say that the investigators are still in the "early stages" of determining the gunman's motive, with New York Police Department Commissioner Jessica Tisch revealing the shooter had a "documented mental health history," the Express reports. In the press conference, the NYPD Commissioner confirmed that one of the people killed was a police officer, whose wife was pregnant with their third child. In a tribute she said: "He was doing the job that we asked him to do. He made the ultimate sacrifice. He died as he lived - a hero." However, GMB viewers were furious by the coverage as they took to social media all saying the same thing as some noted that the news programme hadn't yet mentioned a deadly attack going on closer to home in London. One furious fan expressed: "Nothing about the lone attacker yesterday in London? 4 stabbed, 2 of them dead? Arguably it's a more deadly attack, considering the NY incident was carried out using an assault rifle.' Someone else echoed this statement, writing: 'Why aren't you reporting the four stabbed yesterday in London???' While a third viewer fumed: 'Why are you reporting on what is an every day occurrence in America? Focus on the violence at home."
