Sixers draft history: Nerlens Noel selected No. 6 overall in 2013
With the NBA draft right around the corner, now is the time to look at some past drafts and see what the Philadelphia 76ers have done in their history. The Sixers have selected some big-time players in the past who have become an important part of the fabric of the franchise's history. This edition focuses on the 2013 NBA draft as the Sixers began The Process era. New GM Sam Hinkie made a deal with the New Orleans Pelicans to send All-Star Jrue Holiday to New Orleans for the No. 6 pick which turned out to be Kentucky big man Nerlens Noel. Noel missed his entire rookie year due to injury, but overall, he had some solid moments in Philadelphia. When he did get on the floor in 2014-15, Noel averaged 9.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 steals, 1.7 assists, and 1.9 blocks. He made an impact as a rim runner offensively and as a defensive presence. Noel spent 2.5 seasons with the Sixers before being dealt to the Dallas Mavericks at the 2017 deadline as Joel Embiid took steps forward in the 2016-17 season. Overall, Noel spent nine seasons in the league playing for the Sixers, Mavericks, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, and Brooklyn Nets. He carved out a solid role in this league and was a starter for the Knicks when they made the playoffs in 2021. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle

Liam and Noel Gallagher ‘still haven't rehearsed together' despite Oasis tour just weeks away
The Oasis reunion tour is, quite literally, around the corner, but it seems rehearsals aren't exactly a military operation. In fact, it's believed brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher haven't rehearsed together yet at all… despite their run of stadium shows kicking off in July. Older sibling Noel, 58, has been busy working on musical arrangements and fine-tuning the set list ahead of the first concert in Cardiff on July 4. It's believed the opening and closing songs have also been finalised, as the gigs will begin with Acquiesce before ending with the classic Champagne Supernova, which will undoubtedly delight crowds. As for Liam, 52, it's claimed he's yet to get in the studio with Noel, with whom he hasn't performed for over 15 years. This includes fellow performers Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Mikey Rowe. As per publicists for the band in a comment to the Daily Mail, the once-feuding brothers simply want to avoid being seen together until the very moment they step out onto the stage at the Principality Stadium in 34 days. However, not everyone is convinced by the explanation, given that Liam and Noel managed to arrive separately to film an Adidas ad last month before also leaving at different times, which they could also do with tour rehearsals. Instead, Liam – who is set to become a grandfather for the first time in a matter of months – is chilling at his £4million mansion in the South of France with his girlfriend, Debbie Gwyther. As per an insider, it's said the Oasis double act are taking the 'Rolling Stones protocol' on board for their own tour, which refers to how rock legends Sir Mick Jagger and Keith Richards would be kept apart as much as possible to avoid friction, given that they slept with one another's girlfriends and had personal beef. So, it seems Liam and Noel hope their operation will run much more smoothly by following in their footsteps, despite there being barely any time left until their 41-date, hotly anticipated tour begins this summer. Expanding on what could possibly jeopardise the tour's success, a source added: 'Everyone knows that with Liam's personality, hostilities could break out at any moment. 'If Noel takes the bait, then there could easily be a meltdown.' The insider added that Liam is keen to 'rest' his voice at the moment; hence, he's been 'relaxing' and 'spending time with his mum, Peggy,' before the madness ensues. And while things are still appearing a little frosty, there is reason to be hopeful the creases will be ironed out in the coming weeks to avoid an awkward atmosphere on stage. 'They will jam and work out a set list, and Liam will be the last one to join in with the vocals,' added the mole. 'There is plenty of time and Liam is a born rock 'n' roll star who has lived and breathed these songs and performed a lot of them in his solo shows, so he doesn't need much rehearsal.' For their UK leg, the Wonderwall hitmakers will perform multiple shows in London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin. To the euphoria of international fans, they're also set to take their tour to Asia, Australia, North America, and South America, meaning they'll be on the road until late November. Surely it'll be worth it, though, as Liam and Noel are estimated to rake in as much as £50million each from the reunion we all never thought would happen. 'The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised,' their tour announcement said last August. Oasis disbanded in August 2009 due to the tensions between Liam and Noel, with their conflict reaching boiling point just before a scheduled performance at V Festival.

Oasis convinced to reunite by one star after years of pleas to Noel and Liam
Oasis fans can't wait to see Noel and Liam Gallagher back in action when their tour kicks off in July after the brothers' bitter feud left them estranged for 16 years Liam and Noel Gallagher sent fans into a frenzy when they announced they were reuniting last year and now it's been revealed who was behind the plan to get the band back together. The long-feuding brothers barely spoke for 16 years amid a bitter war of words between the Don't Look Back In Anger stars. Oasis fans had just about given up hope that they would ever see the stars together on stage again. However, after years of radio silence, the band announced that they were embarking on a world tour and it's all, reportedly, thanks to Noel's daughter, Anais. Anais, 25, whose mum is former It girl, Meg Matthews, is good pals with Liam's sons, Lennon and Gene and is said to have spoken to her cousins about getting their dad back in the rehearsal room with Noel. Following Noel's split from ex-wife, Sara McDonald in 2023, a source told The Sun: 'Anais was one of the biggest sources of comfort and support for Noel following his divorce. She was the one that was helping him get back on his feet and return to doing things he loved that had fallen by the wayside.' Claiming Noel had tried to reconcile with Liam over the years, but to no avail, they continued: 'Over the years, Noel had offered an olive branch to Liam, but he'd never taken it up. 'Anais could tell her dad really wanted both his brothers, Liam and Paul, by his side after the split so was determined to get them back in touch. She gets on great with Liam's sons Gene and Lennon so she asked them if their dad would be willing to hear her out. 'They said they thought he would be receptive, so she then asked Liam to reach out to his brother to lend support. Liam's always wanted Oasis back together so he got in touch.' Anais, who is said to have played a part in picking the tour's set list, recently spoke out in defence of younger Oasis fans, who were accused of not being able to appreciate the Britpop sensation's music because they were not of the same generation. Insisting her dad's catalogue of hits was 'timeless', the photographer told Hello! magazine: 'I see this all the time actually - where someone will post a funny video or a cover song and people would say '[Oasis] would hate this'. No, no, you hate this. 'Sometimes people put this hyper-aggressive masculine ideology into what they think that my dad and my uncle are going to be like. They're actually a lot more accepting than the fans are.' She added: 'People really love to hate on anything that young women like and it's really fascinating to me that young women want to go and see Taylor Swift and they're criticised because apparently it's not cool or it's embarrassing - and then young women want to go see Oasis and they're not allowed. 'So, where are young women allowed to take up space? People used the excuse of saying 'you weren't around', as a huge music fan myself, loads of bands that I like split up or were dead even by the time that I came to listen to them." Noel and Liam will walk on stage for the first time together since the band split on July 4 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. There will also be dates in Manchester, London and Dublin as well as Brazil and the US as part of the epic tour.

Anais Gallagher orchestrated Oasis reunion?
Anais Gallagher orchestrated the Oasis reunion. The 25-year-old model – whose parents are Oasis' Noel Gallagher and his first wife Meg Matthews – reportedly decided to help her father reconcile with his estranged brother and bandmate Liam after Noel's second marriage to Sara MacDonald ended. A source told The Sun: 'Anais was one of the biggest sources of comfort and support for Noel following his divorce. 'Over the years, Noel had offered an olive branch to Liam, but he'd never taken it up. 'Anais could tell her dad really wanted both his brothers, Liam and Paul, by his side after the split so was determined to get them back in touch. 'She gets on great with Liam's sons Gene and Lennon so she asked them if their dad would be willing to hear her out. 'They said they thought he would be receptive, so she then asked Liam to reach out to his brother to lend support. 'Liam's always wanted Oasis back together so he got in touch.' Oasis split in 2009, when Noel left the band over a backstage fight at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. He said in a statement at the time: 'People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.' However, the Gallagher siblings thrilled fans last year, when they announced Oasis' comeback after 15 years. They wrote on X: 'The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised." Oasis will kick off their world tour in Cardiff, Wales, in June.
