Norka & CMD organize free workshop for expatriates
T'puram: Norka Roots and Centre for Management Development (CMD) are jointly organizing a free one-day entrepreneurship workshop for expatriates and returnees at Karunagapally, Kollam on Wednesday. The workshop will provide details on Norka Department Project for Returned Emigrants (NDPREM) and other services implemented by state govt through Norka Roots for the rehabilitation of returnees. Guidance on financial, legal and management aspects necessary for selecting suitable enterprises and implementing projects will also be available. Norka to host free workshop for returning expatriates
T'puram: Norka Roots and Centre for Management Development (CMD) are organizing a free one-day entrepreneurship workshop for expatriates and returnee migrants. The event will be held at CMD office, Thycaud at 9.30am on Friday. The workshop is part of the Norka department project for returned emigrants (NDPREM), offering guidance on business development, financial planning and management strategies. Participants will discover innovative business ideas suitable with minimal investment. NDPREM scheme, available to Keralites who worked overseas for over two years, provides a capital subsidy up to Rs 3 lakh and 3% interest subsidy on loans for the first four years. 31 Keralites evacuated from Israel
As part of Operation Sindhu, the Indian Air Force evacuated 31 Malayalis from Israel. A C-17 flight of the Indian Air Force that arrived at Palam Airport in New Delhi on Tuesday noon had 266 Indians, including 18 Keralites. Earlier, one person from Israel arrived at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at 8 a.m., while 12 others arrived at the Palam airport at 8.45 a.m., taking the total number of Keralites evacuated from Israel to 31. They will be brought back home through the airports of Kochi, Kannur, Thiruvananthapuram, and Kozhikode, said a statement from Norka Roots here on Tuesday.

Mortal remains of 5 Keralites killed in Kenya accident brought back
1 2 3 4 Kochi: The mortal remains of five Keralites, who were killed in a bus accident in Kenya last week, were brought back home on Sunday. The bodies arrived in Kochi by a Qatar Airways flight around 9.30am. The deceased are Jasna (29) from Venkitangu in Thrissur; her daughter Ruhie Mehrin Mohammed (18 months); Geetha Shoji Isaac (58) from Cherukol, Mavelikkara; Riya Ann Rodrigues (41) from Mannur, Palakkad; and her daughter Tyra Rodrigues (7). The bodies of Jasna and Mehrin were taken to their ancestral house at Pezhakkappilly in Muvattupuzha and the burial was held in the evening. The funeral of Ann and Tyra too was held in Palakkad on Sunday evening. Geetha's body is kept at a private hospital in Ernakulam. Jasna's husband Mohammed Hanifa and Riya's husband Joel and son Travis were injured in the accident. Industries minister P Rajeeve received the bodies on behalf of the state govt and paid last respects. Arrangements, including ambulances, were made to transport them to hospitals for further treatment. Intervention by the Indian embassy, Kenyan and Qatari expatriate associations, and Norka Roots facilitated the repatriation of the bodies. A last-minute crisis arose due to the requirement of a yellow fever certificate for the return of the bodies. However, the Union govt waived the requirement, considering the special circumstances, following chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan's intervention. Norka Roots general manager T Rashmi, airport director G Manu, public representatives and officials also paid their last respects.

Kenya road accident: Bodies of five Malayalees to be brought on Sunday
Kochi, June 15 (UNI) The bodies of five Keralites who died in a bus accident in Nehru, Kenya, will be brought to Nedumbassery Airport on a Qatar Airways flight at 8.45 am on Sunday. The bodies of Muvattupuzha native Jasna (29), her daughter Roohi Mehrin (one and a half years old), Mavelikkara Cherukol native Geetha Shoji Isaac (58), Palakkad Mannur native Riya Ann (41), and her daughter Tyra Rodrigues (7) will be brought. Following the swift intervention of the Chief Minister, the central government has granted a special exemption to the health precaution requirement of requiring a yellow vaccine certificate for entry into India for mortal remains brought from Kenya and their accompanying relatives. Norka Roots will receive the mortal remains on behalf of the state government. From here, the mortal remains will be taken to their homes. The relatives of the deceased will also be with them on the flight. On June 9, a tourist bus carrying a group of 28 Indians met with an accident. They had come from Qatar for tourism.
