UNC star infielder named best player after Chapel Hill Regional

UNC star infielder named best player after Chapel Hill Regional Is Gavin Gallaher the next UNC baseball legend? The North Carolina Tar Heels finally pieced together another complete game on the baseball diamond, dominating Oklahoma on Monday, 14-4, to win the Chapel Hill Regional and advance to the Super Regionals this coming weekend. UNC (45-13), which won three of its four games in the Chapel Hill Regional, will face the Arizona Wildcats for a spot in the College World Series. Just like 2024, when the Diamond Heels advanced to the Super Regionals, there was a constant force behind this year's Regional run: third baseman Gavin Gallaher. When North Carolina needed a base hit, home run, a runner driven in or virtually anything offensively, its star sophomore at the hot corner delivered. Gallaher finished this year's Chapel Hill Regional hitting an unconscious 13-of-18 (.722 batting average), which included three home runs and 10 RBIs. Gallaher saved his best performance for last in Monday's winner-take-all game, hitting 4-for-6 with four RBIs, two home runs and four runs scored. It should come as no surprise to anyone, Sooners fans included, that Gallaher earned Most Outstanding Player honors. Gallaher rose to prominence as a clutch freshman during last season's Chapel Hill Regional, blasting a walk-off grand slam against Long Island University during the opener. UNC trailed during the ninth inning of that game and, saving his team from embarrassment, Gallaher blasted a no-doubt, bases-loaded grand slam that send Boshamer Stadium into a frenzy. The Diamond Heels will need every bit of Gallaher's offense during the Chapel Hill Super Regional, which will start Friday, June 6 against Arizona at a time TBD. UNC Basketball lands commitment from international prospect

UNC Basketball lands commitment from international prospect North Carolina adds another player to 2025-26 roster. Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have added another significant piece to their 2025-26 roster as we get set to enter the Summer months. After weeks of speculation and recruiting international prospects, the Tar Heels have finally landed a big target. On Saturday, international wing Luka Bogavac committed to North Carolina per Jonathan Givony of ESPN. The Montenegrin wing played for SC Derby and was a top-five scorer in the Adriatic League overseas. He averaged 14.9 points per game and shot 40 percent from the three-point line. The 6-foot-5, 201-pound wing can provide some much-needed shooting from the wing, a spot UNC struggled with last season. Davis and his staff were in search of another wing after Drake Powell stayed in the NBA Draft and have now found that. UNC quarterback commit named to Elite 11 Finals in Los Angeles A UNC commit will have the chance to prove he's among the best in the country Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels have been hot on the recruiting trail, landing prospects for future classes. And one of their most recent commitments is seeing his stock rise as the months go on. High three-star quarterback Travis Burgess committed to North Carolina over Auburn and NC State in May, choosing to join Belichick and the Tar Heels. As his recruitment has gone on, Burgess has improved and he's now on his way to one of the top quarterback competitions in the country. Burgess was one of 20 quarterbacks named a finalist for the Elite 11, a competition in Los Angeles that pits the top quarterback recruits in the country against each other. At the end an MVP will be award as well the top 10 finalists. As a junior, Burgess completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,225 yards and 23 touchdowns. He had just four interceptions on the year. He showed off his mobility as well, rushing for 596 yards. The 6-foot-5, 205-pound Burgess is ranked as the No. 27 quarterback and No. 44 player in the state of Georgia per the 247Sports recruiting rankings. Of the 15 commitments for UNC's 2026 class, Burgess is the second-highest ranked recruit for the Tar Heels. UNC basketball to host five-star recruit

UNC basketball to host five-star recruit A big five star recruit will visit UNC at the end of the Summer. The North Carolina Tar Heels will welcome in a top 10 recruiting class in 2025 headlined by five-star forward Caleb Wilson. But Hubert Davis and his staff are going to need to land another big class in 2026 and they are after some premier talent. One of UNC's top targets in the 2026 class is five-star power forward Toni Bryant, a Florida prospect who picked up an offer from the Tar Heels earlier in 2025. Since then, UNC has made him a priority, even watching him recently on the AAU circuit. And now, UNC will have the chance to impress him in person. Per Joe Tipton of On3, the Tar Heels will host Bryant for an official visit on September 1st: It's the first official visit for a 2026 prospect known for UNC and it's an important one. The 6-foot-9, 215-pound Bryant has 22 offers from programs and is drawing a lot of interest from programs including UNC, Duke, Kentucky, Missouri, and Kansas among others. Bryant is ranked No. 10 nationally, No. 3 power forward and the No. 1 player in the state of Florida per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
