Mohammed Ali Bemammer set standard for NorthEast United FC's new era

New Delhi [India], July 11 (ANI): NorthEast United FC have seen players come and go. The club has rarely enjoyed a lot of stability when it comes to the coaching staff or the squad. So, seeing a player depart should be par for course. In the case of Mohammed Ali Bemammer, it isn't. The Moroccan midfielder was more than just a name in the Highlanders' roster. He embodied the values that the new-look NorthEast United FC team under Juan Pedro Benali represented - excellence, hard work and fighting spirit. Bemammer had everything in abundant supply and was a source of inspiration for the team, as per the ISL official statement. While life goes on at football clubs when a player departs, Bemammer's departure is certain to leave a void in the NorthEast United FC's dressing room simply because he was so good at so many things that were central to Benali's football. A shield in front of the defence, Bemammer was as good as anybody in protecting the back four. While his defensive action numbers were impressive as he topped the Highlanders' tackling charts in 2023-24 with 33 successful tackles, his reading of the game and positional sense were exceptional, allowing him to be at the right place at the right time to halt the opponent's charge. This ability provided great balance to the team, allowing the more creative players up front more freedom to express themselves. The Moroccan's involvement wasn't just limited to shielding the back line. He was the key link between attack and defence. Bemammer topped NorthEast United FC's passing charts in both seasons he featured for the club, meaning he was central to progressing the ball upfield. And he wasn't a mere enabler; he was also the orchestrator at times. Bemammer created 23 chances in the 2024-25 season, the fifth most in the Highlanders' set up, as per the ISL official website. He also added goals to his game in his second season, scoring thrice in the ISL, which included some real screamers, making him a complete midfielder. NorthEast United FC may replace his skillsets with the ball with one or even two players if needed, but it will be hard for the Highlanders to find a substitute for the character he was. A real physical and motivational presence in the heart of the team, Bemammer guided those around him and ensured they got their best out of them. He was key in making sure Benali's plans were translated into performances on the pitch. He wasn't always shouting at his player, but letting his game do the talking. Bemammer led by example, putting every ounce of precision in every pass, putting his heart into every tackle and using every fibre in his brain to make his clever runs, setting a benchmark for the rest to follow. From joining a bottom-placed team that scored 20 goals and conceded 55 in return the Highlanders turned into a team that scored 46 and conceded just 29 in reply in 2024-25 in the league stage. Bemammer was the heartbeat of this transformation, the press release added. Even as he leaves, leaving NorthEast United FC with big boots to fill, he leaves behind a blueprint, a manual of what it takes to be a NorthEast United FC player in this new era of reformation. And those who are still there and those who will join in the future can find a reference in Bemammer's work in the ISL when they try to uphold the standards of this improving NorthEast United FC side. When the situation is bleak, you need to make your own role models, and with Bemammer, NorthEast United FC did just that. (ANI)

John Abraham's Rs 251 crore net worth: Inside his Rs 60 cr duplex, Rs 70 cr bungalow, rental income and brand stakes with Gauri Khan, Nikhil Kamath

John Abraham is more than just an actor. He owns luxurious properties like Villa in the Sky and a bungalow in Khar. He earns rental income from leased apartments. He also has properties in Los Angeles and London. His production house, JA Entertainment, backs content-driven films. He co-owns NorthEast United FC and Goa Aces. While John Abraham may be best known for his intense screen presence and chiselled physique, there's much more to the actor than what meets the eye. Off-screen, John has quietly crafted a multifaceted empire—one built on sharp business instincts, strategic investments, and an unwavering passion for fitness, cinema, and sports. From owning luxe sea-facing properties and launching breakout stars under his production house, to co-owning a football club and diving into motorsports and gym chains, John's journey is a masterclass in balancing stardom with smart entrepreneurship. Here's an inside look at the actor's ever-expanding world—starting with his iconic Villa in the Sky. The actor's primary residence is a luxurious sea-facing duplex penthouse located in the upscale Bandra West area of Mumbai. Aptly named Villa in the Sky, the stunning home spans the 7th and 8th floors of a residential complex and was designed by his architect brother, Alan Abraham. In a past feature with Asian Paints' Where The Heart Is, John offered a rare glimpse into his private sanctuary. He proudly shared that the Indian Institute of Architectural Design had once voted it the best home—an honour that speaks volumes about the apartment's aesthetic and architectural brilliance. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The standout feature of John's Villa in the Sky is its striking floor-to-ceiling glass walls, which seamlessly merge the indoors with the outdoors. These expansive windows offer breathtaking, uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea and the serene Mount Mary Hill. Adding to the island-like vibe is a wooden deck that opens out over the sea, making it feel more like a coastal retreat than a city home. Despite its estimated worth of Rs 60 crore, the actor modestly described his penthouse as 'basic' while offering a peek into the living area—tastefully done up with plush sofas, warm wooden furniture, and minimal decor. A sleek wooden staircase elegantly connects the two levels of the duplex, reflecting the actor's preference for understated luxury and clean design. True to his fitness-first lifestyle, Abraham has dedicated the entire upper floor of his duplex penthouse to a sprawling, state-of-the-art gym. Fully equipped with modern workout gear, the space reflects his passion for health and discipline. Adjacent to the gym is an open terrace that doubles as a lush green escape—adorned with an abundance of trees and plants, it resembles a serene terrace garden. The area not only adds a touch of nature to the home but also offers a spectacular view of the Arabian Sea, making it both calming and invigorating. In addition to his stunning sea-facing penthouse, John made headlines with another major real estate investment—this time, a lavish bungalow in Mumbai's upscale Khar area. Located on the bustling Linking Road, the actor reportedly shelled out Rs 70.83 crore for the property. But the deal wasn't just for the 5,416-square-foot bungalow; John also acquired the 7,722-square-foot plot of land it sits on, further cementing his status as a savvy investor in Mumbai's prime real estate market. In June 2025, he expanded his real estate game by leasing out three high-end apartments in Mumbai, securing a monthly rental income of Rs 6.30 lakh. As per The Economic Times, the actor signed a five-year lease with an 8 percent annual rent hike, which is expected to earn him a total of around Rs 4.3 crore over the duration of the agreement. These premium apartments are located in the Sea Glimpse Co-operative Housing Society, a sought-after residential complex on Bandstand—further reinforcing John's knack for investing in prime real estate. John's real estate portfolio extends well beyond Indian shores. According to GQ, the actor owns a luxurious property in the elite Bel Air neighborhood of Los Angeles—home to Hollywood A-listers like Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. His global investments don't stop there. As per The Times of India, John also owns a property in an upscale part of Central London. This London residence isn't just a personal retreat; it also serves as the overseas headquarters for his production house, blending business with international living. Beyond his impressive real estate investments, the actor has also built a solid presence in the world of film production. He owns JA Entertainment, a production company known for backing content-driven cinema. The banner made a strong debut with the critically acclaimed Vicky Donor, which launched the careers of Ayushmann Khurrana and Yami Gautam. Since then, John has primarily produced his own films under the banner, with a lineup that includes Madras Cafe, Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran, Attack, Batla House, Vedaa, and his latest release, The Diplomat. Through JA Entertainment, John continues to champion impactful storytelling while also maintaining creative control over his projects. Adding to his diverse portfolio, he is also a co-owner of NorthEast United FC, a football club that competes in the Indian Super League (ISL). The team represents the eight states of Northeast India and has become a symbol of regional pride in Indian football. Interestingly, John shares ownership with veteran actor Jaya Bachchan, while his wife, Priya Runchal, serves as the Chairperson of the club. John's involvement reflects his passion for sports and his commitment to promoting football in the country. Apart from football and gymming, John is known for his love of bikes and racing. He followed his passion and acquired the racing team Goa Aces by JA Racing. The team competed at the Indian Racing Festival in 2024. 'I've always been captivated by fast cars and bikes, and I've longed to be part of this thrilling sport (motorsports) as it makes new strides in our country,' Abraham told The Economic Times. He also turned his passion for fitness into a business opportunity. The actor owns a chain of gyms called JA Fitness. John's brand of gyms provides affordable yet high-quality fitness facilities. John is also actively investing in emerging brands. According to a report by Financial Express, his net worth stands at an impressive Rs 251 crore—largely fueled by his expansive real estate holdings and strategic business ventures. A true automobile enthusiast, John also owns a stunning collection of luxury cars and superbikes.

Moosa, 53, who previously served as the first-team assistant coach and reserve team head coach, has been appointed as the Technical Director of NorthEast United FC. This shift in Moosa's role will enable the current India U-23 men's national team coach to concentrate more on youth development, dedicating additional time to the club's reserve team alongside his national team duties. As Technical Director, Moosa will lead the club's reserve team while overseeing the youth development structure at NorthEast United FC, focusing on creating a robust pathway for young players to ensure long-term sustainability and success for the club's grassroots and developmental programs. Moosa, a former India international, has been instrumental in the club's recent youth-level achievements. Under his leadership, the reserve team won the prestigious Sikkim Governor's Gold Cup, finished as runners-up in the 70th Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Trophy, and reached the National Group Stage of the Reliance Foundation Development League (RFDL). Mandar Tamhane, CEO of NorthEast United FC, emphasised Moosa's vital role in the club's youth development programme. He stated, 'As Technical Director, Moosa will play a pivotal role in shaping our youth development programme. His continued involvement with our reserve team allows him to nurture future first-team talent while also fulfilling his responsibilities with the national side, especially with the 2026 Asian Games and AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers on the horizon. This arrangement serves the best interest of both club and country." Reflecting on his contract renewal, Moosa expressed, 'It means a lot to me to stay at this club for another two years. This place has become like a second home, the people, the supporters, the staff, it's more than just football, it's family. It's been an incredible journey, and I'm grateful to keep being part of it." Regarding his new role as Technical Director, Moosa shared his readiness for the next chapter, seeing it as an opportunity to significantly impact youth development. He added, 'Stepping into the role of Technical Director is a new challenge, and one I take on with real pride. It's a big responsibility, but also a chance to give back to a club that's given me so much. I'll be doing everything I can to help shape the future, support the players and coaches, and ensure we keep moving in the right direction together."
