Nothing Headphone 1, co-created with KEF, to debut with Phone 3 in July

In May, while announcing the collaboration with KEF, Nothing stated its intention to deliver a headphone that is aesthetically distinct and competitively priced New Delhi Headphone 1 will reportedly be the first audio product to emerge from Nothing's collaboration with British audio specialist KEF. For context, the UK-based consumer technology brand announced its partnership with KEF in May. At the same time, the company also confirmed the forthcoming launch of its premium flagship smartphone, the Phone 3. It is now reported that the Headphone 1 will debut alongside the Phone 3 in July, priced at $299. Nothing Headphone 1: What to expect According to a report by 9to5Google, the Nothing Headphone 1 will be priced at $299 in the United States. Android Central reports that the headphones will retail at approximately €300 in European markets. Although Nothing has previously introduced audio products such as the Nothing Ear, Nothing Ear (1), Nothing Ear (2), Nothing Ear (a), and Nothing Ear (Stick), the Headphone 1 marks its first foray into the over-ear headphones category. In May, while announcing the collaboration with KEF, Nothing stated its intention to deliver a headphone that is aesthetically distinct and competitively priced compared to existing high-end models such as Apple's AirPods Max and Sony's WH-1000XM6. The company also claimed that the audio quality of the upcoming headphones would be comparable to that of the AirPods Max. The Apple AirPods Max is priced at $600 (Rs 59,900), whereas Nothing has indicated that its upcoming headphones will be significantly more affordable. While an exact price was not confirmed earlier, the recent reports from 9to5Google and Android Central suggest that the headphones may be launched at roughly half the price of Apple's offering. Nothing Phone 3: What to expect Nothing CEO Carl Pei recently provided a glimpse of the Phone 3 during Google's 'Android Show: I/O Edition', revealing a blurred image of the device. Pei suggested that the smartphone would be priced at around 800 pounds in the United Kingdom. According to 9to5Google, the price in the United States may begin at $799, while Android Central reports a starting price of 850 euros in the European market. Notably, Nothing has announced the discontinuation of its signature Glyph Interface, which has been a defining feature of the Phone series. A recent post by the company on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) strongly implied that the upcoming Phone 3 would not include the distinctive rear LED lighting system—at least not in its previous form. A close-up image released by the company, believed to show a section of the device's rear panel, suggested the continued use of the brand's signature transparent design, a hallmark of its visual identity. In terms of build, the Phone 3 is expected to offer improved materials over its predecessor, potentially incorporating metal and glass. The smartphone is rumoured to feature a 6.77-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It may be powered by either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or the newer Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB of internal storage. Regarding optics, the device is anticipated to include a triple rear camera setup, headlined by a 50MP primary sensor. On the front, a 32MP camera is likely to be featured for selfies and video communication. A 5,000mAh battery is expected to power the handset, with support for 50W wired and 20W wireless charging.

Nothing to launch premium over-ear headphones this year: What to expect

Nothing is going to launch its first over-the-ear headphones this summer and it plans to deliver similar audio quality to Apple AirPods Max and Sony WH-1000XM6 but at a lower price. Nothing posted a video on its YouTube channel that showed its design team having a behind-the-scenes discussion about the upcoming headphone and sharing key details of what we can expect from the London-based brand. Notably, Nothing CEO Carl Pei, back in 2022, shared some fan-made concept images of the 'Crazy Cool Nothing Head (1).' Now, after more than two and a half years, the London-based consumer electronics brand has finally confirmed that it indeed has been working on over-the-ear headphones and is set to launch it this year. Nothing Over-the-ear headphones: What to expect In the video, Nothing designers were quite vocal about their dissatisfaction with the kind of choices that exist today in the headphone market. They expressed that they don't like the design of the headphones in the present times and some of the headphones like Apple AirPods Max carry a hefty price tag which makes its accessibility tough for the masses. Apparently, they have taken care of this aspect as they aim to release a product at a lower price. The upcoming headphones are expected to feature simplified and distinct buttons. The reasoning behind this is to make the wearer aware of what control they are touching on the headphones while having them on. Additionally, the team also said that the upcoming headphones will be unique as it will 'say something about you.' The designers said that after making five generations of audio wearables, namely- Nothing Ear, Nothing Ear (1), Nothing Ear (2), Nothing Ear (a), and Nothing Ear (Stick), the company has developed a fair expertise in the segment. They will be putting this expertise to good use by delivering premium quality audio in the upcoming over-the-ear headphones. They have stated that the sound quality is their top-most priority. A team member went on to say: 'I think they are better than AirPods Max." To know whether this is a market fit or not, the company plans to engage with its community for feedback to refine the final product before launch.

Nothing and Kef are making premium audio products together

Technology brand Nothing has announced a partnership with audio experts Kef, and said it's already hard at work on co-developed products together. Nothing is best known for its smartphones these days, but its first ever product was the Nothing Ear 1 earbuds, and it has continued to build and diversify the line ever since. However, Nothing has greater ambitions in audio and it's with Kef it intends to make plans for an expansion into new audio categories a reality. Kef has been building audio products for more than 60 years. Andrew Freshwater, Nothing's head of smart products said: Recommended Videos 'By combining Kef's decades of expertise with our design-led approach to technology, we're laying the groundwork for a new standard in everyday listening. Our products launching later this year mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter of our collaboration and the future of Nothing Audio.' If that wasn't interesting enough, Kef's Grace Lo, head of global marketing, added: 'This partnership allows us to bring our acoustic heritage into a fresh context, working with a brand that shares our dedication to innovation, quality, and design. Together, we're setting out to redefine what premium audio can look and feel like for the next generation.' There's no hard information about the products Nothing and Kef are designing together, aside from the press release stating 'several acoustically co-developed products' are already in progress, with further details expected to be shared in the coming months. Nothing's last audio product releases were the Nothing Ear (a) in April 2024, along with a series of new earbuds in its CMF by Nothing range in April 2025. It's also reasonable to think Nothing and Kef may work together on future smartphone releases, tuning the speakers and the audio for higher quality sound. Asus and Dirac have proved great sound can come from a smartphone with the ROG Phone 9 Pro, but few others have exploited mobile audio in the same way, leaving an opportunity for Nothing and Kef beyond the new audio products it has planned.

Uneven battery drain killing your Nothing Ear earbuds? You're not alone

Rita El Khoury / Android Authority TL;DR Several Nothing Ear users seem to be facing an unusual battery-related issue with their earbuds. The issue reportedly results in one earbud discharging significantly faster than the other. It's unclear whether this issue stems from a hardware defect or a buggy firmware update. In addition to fantastic budget-friendly smartphones, Nothing makes some of the best wireless earbuds on the market. The Nothing Ear from last year is one of our top picks in the mid-range segment, but it appears to have a serious battery-related issue that makes the earbuds practically unusable for some buyers. We've come across several user reports on Reddit, Facebook, and the Nothing Community forums highlighting an irregular battery drain issue with the Nothing Ear. This issue allegedly results in one earbud running out of battery significantly faster than the other. Interestingly, the problem doesn't seem to affect one particular earbud. Some users report facing the issue with the right earbud, while others say it affects the left earbud. Either way, it appears to be a widespread issue and also seems to affect other Nothing and CMF earbuds. Reports highlighting irregular battery drain go back several months, with some users indicating that the issue appeared following a firmware update. However, it's not immediately clear whether the problem stems from a hardware or a software defect. We've reached out to Nothing for a comment on the matter, and we'll update this post as soon as we have more details. In the meantime, affected users can contact customer support or visit a nearby service center to get replacement earbuds. According to Reddit user jadex67, Nothing seems to be replacing faulty earbuds that are still under warranty. However, your mileage may vary. Got a tip? Talk to us!
