'Promised so much but delivered so little' - fans reflect on season
After missing out on Champions League football on the final day of the Premier League season, we asked for your feelings on Nottingham Forest's are some of your comments:Steve: A season that promised so much, but delivered so little. I know Forest have third-tier European Conference League qualification, but it's not the Champions League. This reduces the chances of attracting top-quality recruits, which has clearly hampered the challenge as the season drew to a close. Can't help thinking that not making a couple of signings in January didn't help!Doug: A slightly disappointing end to what has been a remarkable campaign for the Reds. Any Forest fan would have gladly taken finishing seventh this season and claiming European football next season. We will, however, need to strengthen our squad to ensure we don't do a Manchester United or Spurs next I have supported Forest for 60 years and after promotion I said I would enjoy the Premier League ride for as long as it lasted. What a ride it has been. Following two stressful seasons, what a time we have had this time. In the top four for much of the season, we ended up seventh - an amazing performance. Thank you Nuno and all the players - all your efforts are much appreciated. European football next season - can't Nuno has a well known preference for a small squad but, the corollary to this is that is has eventually left him having to utilise players who were either unfit or exhausted, because he was unable to rest them nor be able to call upon replacements of a similar By the end of the season the tiredness showed. Passes and crosses weren't as accurate, responses weren't as fast... But we achieved far more than expected! I am pleased and proud of how well we've done. So why does this currently feel worse than securing safety on the last day?

Why has Gary Neville been banned from Nottingham Forest for final day of Premier League season?
THE Premier League season will come to an end today, and it promises to be a thrilling day of action. The top and the bottom have already been finalised, with just the European spots still to play for. 1 Nottingham Forest have the chance to cap off a stunning season wth Champions League football Credit: PA FIVE teams remain in the hunt to join The standout game comes at the City Ground with Nuno Espírito Santo's side hosting top-five rivals Chelsea. Forest need to BEAT the Blues to stand any chance of the Champions League, while a win for the London outfit would guarantee their spot. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL Sky Sports have the rights to broadcast the blockbuster clash, but one key figure has been banned from attending. Why has Gary Neville been banned from Nottingham Forest? Neville has been banned from commentating at the City Ground for Forest's Champions League decider against Chelsea this afternoon after the former England right-back slammed the club's owner, Evangelos Marinakis. Two weeks ago, the Sky Sports figure criticised the Forest chief's 'absolutely scandalous' on-pitch row with boss Nuno in the final minutes of the 2-2 draw with Leicester on May 11. Most read in Football Marinakis was furious that Forest's medical staff did not recognise the extent of striker Taiwo Awoniyi's injury when the Nigerian collided with a post. Awoniyi was subsequently placed in an induced coma after undergoing surgery for a ruptured intestine. When he saw the confrontation, Neville said: "What the Forest owner has just done on the pitch over at the City Ground is absolutely scandalous. "If I was Nuno, I'd be going and having a very strong word with him, because that is an absolute scandal. "He's just qualified them for a European competition, and from where that club's been, and to be remonstrated with on that pitch in front of the club's fans is an absolute joke." Neville later added on X: 'Scandalous from that Forest owner. Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that." Forest hit back, using the club's social media accounts to implicitly accuse Neville of having pushed 'fake news online', adding: 'Baseless and ill-informed outrage for the purposes of personal social media traction serves no one — least of all the injured player. 'We call on these influential voices to show the same respect for player welfare that they often demand from others. Let concern come before commentary. 'At Nottingham Forest, we believe the mental and physical well-being of our players and coaching staff must always take precedence — over media narratives, inflammatory judgements, and certainly over self-promotion.' Forest also insisted there had been no confrontation between Marinakis and the manager. Sky had Neville booked in for the co-commentary gig at the City Ground this afternoon. A spokesman for the channel said: "Sky Sports was subsequently informed by Nottingham Forest that Gary Neville would be denied accreditation to the match. "This was an unprecedented and unwelcome step. "As a result, Sky Sports has decided to revise its production plans and has taken the decision to present the game from Sky Studios in west London." Neville has chosen not to partake in Sky's broadcast of the game at all after being prevented from co-commentating at the City Ground. It is expected he will be replaced, with Sky choosing to still work the match coverage from the ground, even though their show will now be presented from Osterley rather than Nottingham.

Forest ban Neville from stadium for Chelsea game
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has said Nottingham Forest have banned him from the City Ground for their final Premier League game of the season against Chelsea on Sunday. The former Manchester United and England defender said he was informed by the broadcaster that Forest "would not give me an accreditation or access to the stadium as a co-commentator". "I've had no choice but to withdraw from the coverage," the 50-year-old added on Instagram. BBC Sport has contacted Nottingham Forest for comment. Neville criticised Evangelos Marinakis on X after the Forest owner marched onto the pitch and spoke animatedly with manager Nuno Espirito Santo following the late goal by Leicester City in the 2-2 draw earlier this month. "Scandalous from that Forest owner. Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that," Neville wrote on X the same day. 'A winner, imposing, controversial' - who is Forest owner Marinakis? Forest later denied Marinakis' exchange with Nuno was a "confrontation" and described subsequent reaction to the situation as "fake news". The club said the incident was because of Marinakis' frustration that striker Taiwo Awoniyi had continued to play after an 88th-minute injury, which subsequently required urgent surgery. "I've dished out my fair share of criticism and praise in the last 14 years of doing this job and have never come close to this unprecedented action," Neville said. "Whilst they have every right to choose who they let into their own stadium, it's symptomatic of things that have happened over the last 12 months with the club." Seventh-placed Forest can qualify for next season's Champions League on Sunday if they beat Chelsea at the City Ground and other results go their way. "Personally, I think it's disappointing that a great club like Nottingham Forest have been reduced to making such a decision," Neville added. "I wish the coaching staff, players and fans of the club all the best in their quest to achieve Champions League football." The Premier League said accreditation was a club matter. Gary Neville refused entry to Nottingham Forest season finale against Chelsea
Neville was scheduled to be part of Sky's commentary team as both sides bid to secure Champions League football next season, but Forest have declined to grant him media accreditation. The east Midlands club declined to comment when approached by the PA news agency. Former Manchester United defender Neville said on Instagram: 'I was contacted by Sky Sports earlier on in the week and told that I would be commentating at the City Ground on Sunday for the Nottingham Forest v Chelsea match. 'I was informed yesterday by Sky Sports that Nottingham Forest would not give me an accreditation or access to the stadium as a co-commentator. I've had no choice but to withdraw from the coverage. 'I've dished out my fair share of criticism and praise in the last 14 years of doing this job and have never come close to this unprecedented action. 'Personally, I think it's disappointing that a great club like Nottingham Forest have been reduced to making such a decision. While they have every right to choose who they let into their own stadium, it's symptomatic of things that have happened over the last 12 months with the club. 'I wish the coaching staff, players and fans of the club all the best in their quest to achieve Champions League football.' Neville has been highly critical of Forest and owner Evangelos Marinakis this season. Scandalous from that Forest owner. Nuno should go and negotiate his exit tonight with him! The Forest fans, players and manager do not deserve that — Gary Neville (@GNev2) May 11, 2025 He described Marinakis walking on to the pitch and exchanging words with head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after the recent draw with Leicester as 'scandalous'. Neville urged Nuno to quit the club and his social media post further enraged Marinakis, who had threatened Sky with legal action over comments made by the pundit earlier in the season. After Forest's 2-0 defeat at Everton last year, the club issued a statement on social media questioning the integrity of video assistant referee Stuart Atwell after claiming they had been denied three penalties. Neville's response to that, comparing Forest's actions to those of a 'mafia gang', prompted an apology from Sky after they had been contacted by Marinakis' lawyers.
