What is the Fair Deal Scheme?

The Nursing Homes Support Scheme, commonly known as the Fair Deal scheme, is managed by the HSE and was introduced to cover the cost of long-term nursing home care in Ireland.
Anyone who needs long-term nursing home care can apply to the Fair Deal scheme, which has an annual budget of €1.25bn and is run under the Nursing Home Support Scheme Act.
