Suniel Shetty's Birthday Post For Paresh Rawal Amid Hera Pheri 3 Row: "A Wonderful Human Being"

Mumbai: Versatile actor Paresh Rawal turned 70 on Friday, and wishing him on his special day, his Hera Pheri co-star Suniel Shetty penned a special birthday wish for him, calling him a "wonderful human being". Showering him with love and respect, Suniel penned on his X timeline, "To the man... Who is a powerhouse of both Wit & Wisdom and an even more wonderful human being. Happy happy birthday Pareshji. Much love and respect always." Suniel also shared a photograph facing the camera with Paresh. To the man... Who is a powerhouse of both Wit & Wisdom and an even more wonderful human being. Happy happy birthday Pareshji. Much love and respect always. @SirPareshRawal — Suniel Shetty (@SunielVShetty) May 30, 2025 The post comes in the light of the ongoing tiff between Paresh and Akshay Kumar, following the former's exit from the third installment in the franchise, Hera Pheri 3. The controversy erupted after reports started doing the rounds that Paresh had walked out of Hera Pheri 3. After this, Akshay's production banner, Cape of Good Films, which is backing the project, filed a lawsuit against Paresh of Rs. 25 crores for abruptly quitting the drama. Meanwhile, a source close to Paresh questioned the film's original producer, Firoz Nadiadwala's silence in the matter. A source close to Paresh told IANS, 'Let's not forget, 'OMG' was a film Paresh ji helped develop from the ground up, adapted from a play he had performed for years. When it came to producing the film, he didn't blink. He placed his trust in Akshay Kumar out of deep love, respect, and, above all, faith. That bond has always been strong. Years later, OMG 2 came along, and this is where the truth gets blurry. Paresh ji had developed that story from scratch, with the intent of making it a standalone film. It was not meant to be OMG 2. But somewhere along the way, the script he shaped was rebranded into a franchise sequel. The role was written for him. The story was his. And yet, he chose to walk away quietly, gracefully. He didn't fight it. He didn't stop it. He didn't sue.'

Amid Hera Pheri 3 controversy, source close to Paresh Rawal questions silence of original creator Firoz Nadiadwala

In the wake of Paresh Rawal's exit from ' Hera Pheri 3, ' a source close to the veteran actor has questioned the silence of the film's original producer, Firoz Nadiadwala. The source pointed to Nadiadwala's absence from the conversation, questioning why the man behind the iconic franchise has chosen not to address the growing controversy. An insider shed light on the actor's quiet exit from 'Hera Pheri 3 ,' suggesting that his decision stems from a deeper sense of creative disillusionment rather than any sudden fallout. A close source to Paresh Rawal told IANS, 'Let's not forget, OMG was a film Paresh ji helped develop from the ground up, adapted from a play he had performed for years. He didn't sue.' 'Imagine the kind of disappointment and heartbreak that takes, to let go of something you created, just because it no longer stood for what it was meant to be. So, if he could walk away from that, stepping back from a mere promo shoot should hardly come as a shock. And amid all the noise around Hera Pheri, the real silence is deafening. Where is Firoz Nadiadwala, the original creator and producer? Why isn't he speaking? A franchise carries a legacy. It's not a shortcut to marketing. Audiences don't just buy tickets; they buy trust. And maybe it's time we stop letting them down. The story should always lead. Not the face,' the insider added. Earlier, Paresh Rawal's lawyer spoke about Firoz Nadiadwala, who is the cousin of producer Sajid Nadiadwala, explaining that the actor decided to withdraw from the project to protect his own interests while also preserving his relationship with Firoz. The actor's lawyer exclusively told IANS, 'Admittedly, they did not deliver the story, screenplay, and also a draft of a long-form agreement, which was fundamental to the engagement of our client. In the absence of these, and also since Mr. Nadiadwala, the producer of the original films, issued notice to our client and raised issues on the making of the film, our client chose to exit and returned the money with interest by terminating the term sheet.' Paresh Rawal exited Hera Pheri 3 For the unversed, the controversy ignited when reports surfaced that Paresh Rawal had exited 'Hera Pheri 3.' Shortly after, Akshay Kumar, who not only stars as one of the three main leads but also took on the role of producer after acquiring the film's rights from Firoz Nadiadwala, filed a lawsuit against the veteran actor. Paresh Rawal clarified that his departure was not due to any creative disagreements with his longtime collaborator Priyadarshan, whom he greatly respects. He emphasized that his choice to leave was a carefully considered decision. Akshay Kumar on people calling Paresh Rawal a 'fool' Recently, when asked about people labeling Paresh Rawal as 'foolish' for exiting 'Hera Pheri 3,' Akshay Kumar chose to stand by his co-star without directly addressing the controversy. He emphasized that, since the issue is currently under legal review, he prefers not to make any public statements. Nevertheless, Kumar made it clear that he does not support or approve of anyone insulting Rawal.

Source close to Paresh Rawal questions original producer Firoz Nadiadwala's silence on the 'Hera Pheri 3' dispute

Picture Credit: X Hindi cinema's iconic comedy franchise 'Hera Pheri 3' has been in the news recently after veteran actor Paresh Rawal took an exit from the movie. While the matter has taken a legal turn and is still sub judice, a latest report raises questions about the original producer, Firoz Nadiadwala's silence on the matter. Why is Firoz Nadiadwala silent? While much attention has been focused on Rawal's unexpected exit and the legal tussle with current producer Akshay Kumar , according to an IANS report, a source close to Paresh Rawal wonders why Nadiadwala, the man who created and nurtured the iconic franchise, has not publicly addressed the growing turmoil. According to the insider, Paresh Rawal's decision to step away from 'Hera Pheri 3' was not a sudden fallout but was from a deeper sense of creative disappointment. The source recalled how Rawal had previously walked away quietly from 'OMG 2' when the project no longer had developed with his original vision, despite having created the story from scratch. In that case, Rawal chose not to fight publicly or engage in legal battles. Given Rawal's history of professionalism and respect for his collaborators, the source suggests that his exit from 'Hera Pheri 3' should be seen in the same light. However, amid all the noise and speculation, the question the source raised is the silence of Firoz Nadiadwala. The source questions why Nadiadwala, who launched the 'Hera Pheri' franchise and holds its legacy, has remained conspicuously quiet. "Audiences don't just buy tickets; they buy trust" The source's quote reads, "And amid all the noise around Hera Pheri, the real silence is deafening. Where is Firoz Nadiadwala, the original creator and producer? Why isn't he speaking? A franchise carries a legacy. It's not a shortcut to marketing. Audiences don't just buy tickets; they buy trust. And maybe it's time we stop letting them down. The story should always lead. Not the face". Further clarifying Rawal's exit, the actor's lawyer explained that the absence of a finalized script, screenplay, and formal agreement were fundamental reasons behind the decision. Rawal chose to protect his professional interests and maintain his relationship with Nadiadwala by stepping away and returning the money with interest. The controversy escalated when Akshay Kumar, who took over production rights from Nadiadwala, filed a lawsuit against Rawal for allegedly breaching contract terms. Despite this, Rawal has maintained that his departure was not due to any creative differences with director Priyadarshan, whom he respects deeply. Housefull 5 trailer: Akshay Kumar gets slapped by monkey, Jackie Shroff makes fun of Tiger, movie copies Murder Mystery and Knives Out

Housefull 5 trailer: The trailer for Housefull 5, the fifth instalment in the hit comedy franchise, was unveiled on Tuesday ahead of its release on June 1. The comedy film has a massive ensemble cast, perhaps one of the biggest put together in recent memory. It is headlined by Akshay Kumar, with supporting roles played by Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, and more. Housefull 5 is set on a cruise ship, and combines elements of murder mystery and horror comedy. Akshay has been a part of the franchise since its inception in 2010. The trailer opens with a voiceover by Nana Patekar, announcing the backdrop that the movie is set against. A billionaire is celebrating his 100th birthday on a luxury yacht, with a grand party. During the party, the billionaire wants to announce his will; already, Housefull 5 seems like a combination of the Adam Sandler-Jennifer Aniston movie Murder Mystery, and the Daniel Craig-starrer Knives Out. When the billionaire dies, the three heroes become the suspects. But the trouble is that somebody slipped something in their drinks, and they can't remember anything about their lives. To solve the mystery, Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt are flown in. Also read – Paresh Rawal's lawyer accuses Akshay Kumar of not delivering Hera Pheri 3 screenplay, says his exit due to 'overall disorganisation' The trailer ends with a glimpse of the kind of humour that fans can expect, which includes Jackie Shroff making jokes at the expense of his own son, Tiger, and Akshay getting slapped by a couple of monkeys. Housefull 5 is Akshay's second major attempt at relying on franchises to steady his career. The first attempt, OMG 2, proved to be a rare hit for him, and it featured Akshay in an extended cameo. The first song from the film, 'Laal Pari,' became a big hit online. The song's music video has accumulated over 60 million views on YouTube, reinstating Yo Yo Honey Singh's stature as a hit-maker. The four previous instalments have been directed by Sajid Khan and Farhad Samji. They've made a combined total of around Rs 800 crore worldwide. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, who previously directed the films Dostana and Drive, Housefull 5 also features Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Shreyas Talpade, Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, Dino Morea, Jacqueline Fernandez, Nargis Fakhri, Chitrangada Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Soundarya Sharma, Chunky Pandey and Johnny Lever. The movie will be released in theatres on June 1.

Why Paresh Rawal Quit Hera Pheri: No Script, Flaky Details, And A Whole Lot Of Friction

New Delhi: The iconic Hera Pheri franchise has run into yet another controversy - this time involving the unexpected exit of actor Paresh Rawal, who portrayed the fan-favourite character Baburao. The situation has since escalated into a legal dispute, raising questions about creative control, contractual clarity, and an increasingly fragile relationship between Rawal and co-star Akshay Kumar. No Script, No Clarity - Just A Poster Shoot? Sources close to the development say Rawal's discomfort stemmed from the absence of a bound script or a clear narration of his character's arc. Despite being part of a promotional shoot that was widely circulated as the trio's grand return - Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Rawal - the actor had not received details about his role or its length in the film. While the announcement suggested full-scale production was imminent, insiders claim Hera Pheri 3 had no locked screenplay at the time, which raised red flags for Rawal. Legal Dispute: Breach of Trust or Lack of Contract? Akshay Kumar's production banner, Cape of Good Films, served a legal notice to Rawal, claiming damages of Rs 25 crore. They argue that Rawal accepted a Rs 11 lakh signing amount, committed to the film, and later withdrew, disrupting timelines and planning. However, Rawal's legal team maintains there was no signed agreement, no narration, and no finalised script. According to them, the actor returned the signing amount with 15% interest well before any legal communication from Cape of Good Films. They've called the suit "unfounded" and suggested Rawal had every right to exit a project that was not formally binding. Franchise Rights Tussle: Another Layer Of Conflict What complicates matters further is the dispute over who holds the rights to the Hera Pheri brand. Producer Firoz Nadiadwala, who launched the original film in 2000, is believed to have reclaimed the intellectual property rights. His team had allegedly warned Akshay Kumar and others against publicly promoting any new instalment without legal clearance. This ongoing battle over IP rights may have contributed to Rawal's hesitation, especially if the project was being developed in a murky legal environment. Past Friction? The OMG 2 Factor Though not directly linked, some believe the signs of a rift between Rawal and Kumar began surfacing earlier. In OMG 2 - a sequel to the 2012 film OMG: Oh My God! that starred both actors - Rawal was noticeably absent. Akshay Kumar featured in a supporting but central role as a divine messenger and co-produced the film. Rawal, who led the original, was not part of the sequel, possibly reflecting a deeper creative divergence. Creative Reservations: 'Don't Want to Repeat the Same Mistakes' In previous interviews, Rawal had expressed dissatisfaction with how Phir Hera Pheri (2006) shifted away from the grounded humour of the original. Sources say he was cautious about history repeating itself - a big reason he demanded a proper script and clarity before giving a green light to Hera Pheri 3. Without those assurances, and with multiple producers claiming control of the franchise, Rawal opted to step away. Industry Reacts: A Missing Piece Suniel Shetty, who plays Shyam in the franchise, publicly expressed shock over Rawal's exit. Director Priyadarshan also hinted that the chemistry between the trio cannot be replicated. With one of the key characters now gone, the future of Hera Pheri 3 hangs in the balance.
