Dimitri Payet leaves Vasco da Gama by mutual agreement
Vasco da Gama have confirmed the departure of Dimitri Payet (38) after agreeing to a mutual termination of the Frenchman's contract, initially due to run until June 2025. The former Olympique de Marseille playmaker joined the Rio de Janeiro side in August 2023 following his release by OM, where he spent eight seasons across two spells. Payet signed a two-year deal with Vasco but departs just short of completing the first year. Advertisement In total, the 38-time France international made 77 appearances for Vasco, scoring 8 goals and registering 16 assists. Despite some flashes of technical brilliance, he was unable to help the club secure silverware or escape a general sense of underachievement during his spell in Brazil. In a statement released on Monday evening, Vasco thanked Payet for his 'professionalism, dedication and respect' and wished him success in the next stage of his career. The club's farewell concluded with a nod to the Frenchman's roots: 'Merci Payet. Ici, c'est Vasco.' Payet's final months in Brazil were marred by off-field controversy. In late March, a Brazilian lawyer filed a police complaint in Rio alleging 'physical and psychological violence' by the player during what she described as a romantic relationship. Brazilian media reports, citing police documents, indicate that Payet acknowledged the extra-marital relationship but denied any violent conduct. GFFN | George Boxall

Luis Henrique secures Inter Milan move
Luis Henrique (23) has completed his move from Olympique de Marseille to Inter Milan. The Brazilian has signed a five-year deal with the Italian club. Inter Milan have been working on a deal to sign Henrique for weeks, even months. The Italian side, who reached the final of the UEFA Champions League, were keen to sign the versatile forward before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. They have succeeded in doing so. Advertisement Henrique joins the Serie A giants for a reported fee of €23m plus bonuses. His move to the San Siro was confirmed by Inter Milan on Saturday. Despite initially struggling following his move to OM in 2020, his final season at the Vélodrome was his most accomplished. He scored nine goals and registered 10 assists for Les Phocéens across 35 games in all competitions. Marseille are already in the market for a replacement and, according to L'Équipe, have identified Ivan Perisic, Noa Lang, and Igor Paixao as potential targets. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Lens interested in Marseille's Neal Maupay
RC Lens are interested in Olympique de Marseille centre-forward Neal Maupay (28), according to a report from Foot Mercato. Maupay proved useful for Marseille at times in the season, especially before Amine Gouiri's arrival in January. However, the signing of the Algeria international saw the former Brighton and Hove Albion, Brentford, and Everton forward used more sparingly in the second part of the campaign. Advertisement Over the course of the season, he scored four goals and registered four assists in 24 appearances. Foot Mercato understands, however, that Maupay may not have a future at the Vélodrome. He is, nonetheless, attracting interest. RC Lens are interested in the Frenchman, who could even be used in the deal that could see Facundo Medina make the opposite move. The publication reports that a €20m deal for the Argentine is close, however, with Lens' interest in Maupay, the centre-forward could be used as a makeweight in a potential deal. The Marseille forward is, in any case, strongly appreciated by Lens. GFFN | Luke Entwistle
