Oman participates in meeting of GCC municipal officials
Muscat — The Sultanate of Oman took part in the 41st preparatory meeting of senior municipal officials from the GCC, held today in the State of Kuwait. The Omani delegation was headed by Dr. Yahya Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah. The meeting addressed several topics related to GCC municipal action, including follow-ups on previous decisions by the Committee of Ministers of Municipal Affairs and the approval of several guiding manuals on urban environment and strategic urban planning, among other topics. Additionally, discussions covered the proposed establishment of a GCC Urban Research Center, urging member states to participate in the 6th edition of the GCC Municipal Award. The meeting also underscored the importance of activating a mechanism for exchanging municipal experts and specialists among GCC countries.

Oman, EU discuss means to enhance cooperation
Brussels: The third high-level officials' meeting between the Sultanate of Oman and the European Union was held in Brussels today to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation across various fields of mutual interest, including trade, investment, fisheries exports, education, training, renewable green energy, as well as environmental and tourism collaboration. The Omani delegation was chaired by Ambassador Munthir Mahfoudh Al Mandhari, Head of the Europe Department at the Foreign Ministry, while the European side was represented by Anna-Maria Panagiotakopoulou, Head of the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, and Regional Policies Division at the European External Action Service. The meeting was attended by Ru'aa Issa Al Zadjali, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission to the European Union, alongside representatives from several Omani government bodies and officials from the European External Action Service and the European Commission. On the sidelines of the meeting, Ambassador Al Mandhari met with Michael Karnitschnig, Deputy Director-General and Head of the Gulf Office at the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Middle East and Gulf. Discussions during the meeting focused on bilateral relations between Oman and the European Union and ways to enhance them to serve the joint interests.
