Ravi Kishan Pays Tribute To Late Mukul Dev At Son of Sardaar 2 Trailer Launch: ‘Watch It For Him'

Ravi Kishan pays tribute to late actor Mukul Dev at the Son of Sardaar 2 trailer launch. Urges fans to watch the film in his honour, calling it his final gift. At the grand trailer launch of Son of Sardaar 2 in Mumbai, what began as a joyous celebration soon turned into a poignant moment of remembrance. The film, which features an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Mrunal Thakur, and Ravi Kishan, marks the final screen appearance of late actor Mukul Dev, who passed away just last month. Ravi Kishan, who is said to have stepped into a role originally intended for Sanjay Dutt, led the tribute with a heartfelt message. 'Mukul was very excited about this film," he shared with visible emotion. 'Wherever you are, Mukul, we love you and we miss you. I'd request everyone to watch this film for Mukul. He was an incredible actor, and today, we all feel his absence." Actress Kubbra Sait, who also plays a significant role in the film, fondly remembered the camaraderie she shared with Mukul on set. 'Mukul sir was always the first to arrive on set," she recalled with a smile. 'He was a dear friend, and I loved pulling his leg. All of us, including our director Vijay Arora, would tease him, saying, 'Mukul, you're finally here!' We're really missing him today." Mukul Dev's final days were reportedly marked by personal turmoil. His brother, actor Rahul Dev, revealed that Mukul had been battling loneliness after the loss of their parents and was struggling emotionally. 'He was in the ICU for eight and a half days. It was mainly due to poor eating habits. In his last four-five days, he had stopped eating altogether. Of course, he felt very lonely… he had lost the will to live," Rahul had said in a recent interview. Mukul Dev carved a niche for himself across Hindi and Punjabi cinema, earning love for both serious and comic roles. His performance in the original Son of Sardaar remains etched in fans' memories. Beyond acting, Mukul had also dabbled in screenwriting and was credited with penning the script for Hansal Mehta's critically acclaimed Omerta. As Son of Sardaar 2 readies for its theatrical release, the film stands not just as a comedy caper, but also as a tribute to an artist whose talent and spirit touched everyone he worked with — and whose absence is deeply felt. Hansal Mehta Slams X User Calling His Mukul Dev Tribute ‘Narcissistic': ‘When A Friend Dies…'

Last Updated: A netizen criticized Hansal Mehta's tribute to his late friend Mukul Dev, accusing him of 'hyping' his film Omertà in the post. Here's how the filmmaker reacted! After Mukul Dev passed away on May 23, his friend and filmmaker Hansal Mehta shared an emotional tribute on social media. In his post, Hansal Mehta recalled how Mukul gave him the story for Omertà in 2003 and later felt proud and joyful seeing his name in the writing credits when the film was finally made. An X user recently slammed Hansal Mehta, accusing him of being a 'narcissist' and 'hyping' his film Omerta in his tribute for Mukul Dev. He reacted strongly to the netizen, and stated that the film was Mukul's dream, and that his pride in it was real. He added that if narrating that is 'narcissism', then they need to look up the meaning of grief and decency. On Sunday, the X user shared a screenshot of Hansal Mehta's emotional tribute to Mukul Dev. 'Hansal Mehta is such a narcissist. Even here he is hyping himself and his film through his words…and why would you say that he was disappointed in himself and all after Mukul Dev passed away," wrote the netizen. Hansal Mehta hit back at the netizen, and wrote, 'When a friend dies, grief expresses itself in memories, in stories, in guilt, in unfinished conversations. I shared mine with honesty and affection. If you see narcissism in that, it says more about your lens than my intent. Also, I don't need to 'hype" a film made over seven years ago. That film was Mukul's dream. His pride in it was real. His credit on it gave him some joy. If narrating that is narcissism, maybe you need to look up the meaning of grief and decency." If you see narcissism in that, it says more about your lens than my I don't need to 'hype" a film made over seven… — Hansal Mehta (@mehtahansal) June 29, 2025 Hansal Mehta's Tribute For Late Mukul Dev 'Mukul's career became a 'collection of missed opportunities and near breakthroughs'," wrote Hansal Mehta. He shared that Mukul had acted in multiple projects of his, even though some never made it to the screen. 'He acted in two of my unreleased films and a TV show—somehow in the shadows of it all, we became very close. We bonded over booze, broken hearts, and the foolish hope that things would one day make sense. For years, we were gym buddies, pushing each other through reps and regrets." Their collaboration extended to Omerta, the critically acclaimed film starring Rajkummar Rao. Mukul contributed significantly behind the scenes as well. 'He was also a gifted writer. He gave me the story of Omertà back in 2003. I remember the joy in his voice when the film was finally made, the pride when he saw it with festival audiences, and that infectious excitement when his name came up in the writing credits. Every time we spoke, he'd chuckle and say, 'Hansie, kya film banayi yaar. International. Soch bhi nahi sakta tha ki aisi film mein I'd have a writing credit. This is so good for me.' That credit made him feel seen. Respected. Validated. I just wish we had done more together," wrote the filmmaker. Concluding the note, he wrote, 'The last time we spoke was a few months ago. The same gregarious laugh, the same fake Feroz Khan accent we always used with each other. But behind the laughter, I sensed something heavier—a quiet sadness, an air of disappointment, a kind of loneliness he never really shared." First Published:

Rahul Dev remembers brother Mukul Dev: He was gifted, sensitive, and full of charm

Rahul Dev and Mukul Dev The sudden passing of actor Mukul Dev at 54, on the late night of May 23, left the industry in shock. While tributes poured in, some also speculated about his health and emotional state. His elder brother, actor Rahul Dev , now addresses these conversations, offering clarity and an honest account of Mukul's final days. Rahul shares, 'He was in the ICU for eight and a half days. Medically, it was a result of poor eating habits. In the last four-five days, he had stopped eating altogether. Of course, he felt lonely, and he had lost interest in life. Usko zindagi jeene ka jazba nahi tha. He would turn down several work offers.' Mukul had shifted to Delhi in 2019 to care for their ailing father, who passed away that same year. Their mother passed away in 2023. Rahul says, 'He never recovered from our father's loss. And now, losing Mukul — the month of May has been cruel. I lost my father, my wife, and now my brother in May. I wish I could erase this month from the calendar. People say time heals, but these wounds are still raw. Only now, after completing all the rituals, is the reality sinking in — and I know the pain will only deepen. ' Rahul recalls how Mukul increasingly withdrew into himself, turning to writing — a solitary pursuit. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like เทรดทองCFDsกับโบรกเกอร์ที่เชื่อถือได้| เปิดบัญชีวันนี้ IC Markets สมัคร Undo He says, 'He invested himself in writing and grew reclusive. I always encouraged him to return to acting. He missed his daughter immensely, who wasn't living with him. He wasn't looking after himself and living alone didn't help.' Addressing the circulating claims of Mukul being in depression or unwell, Rahul says, 'The people who are speaking out now weren't even in touch with him. They say he was unfit, but he ran half-marathons. Yes, he had gained weight — when someone stops caring about themselves, it shows. He felt isolated. Who really stayed in touch with him between 2019 and 2024? Did they visit him when he was in hospital or attend his prayer meet? He had two upcoming releases and had recently shot in England for Son of Sardaar. No one will cast you if you're not fit.' Though Mukul had transitioned into writing and co-wrote Omerta for Hansal Mehta, Rahul believes the solitary nature of writing may have deepened his sense of isolation. 'He was a gifted writer, but writing is lonely work. He needed companionship and a sense of purpose, and those were missing.' Mukul and Rahul The sense of loneliness, Rahul says, defined a large part of Mukul's life. 'I'm a widower, and he was a divorcee. Sometimes I wonder — is it a kind of curse? When you separate from someone you've loved deeply, it's incredibly hard. Har koi akele aata hai, akele jaata hai, people say — but it's different when you're living that aloneness. Mukul split at a young age, and while he had a strong bond with his child, he was never really meant to be on his own,' Rahul shares, and recalls, 'He was always surrounded by people, especially women — from childhood, he was effortlessly charming. I, on the other hand, was always shy around girls. He was a star before he became one. And the irony is, someone so naturally social ended up so alone. He never remarried or tried again. His life was full of such ironies. I wish he had been more receptive — things could have turned around.' Rahul, who is just under two years older than Mukul, often took on a more parental role. He recalls, 'I would scold him about his health, and he'd avoid me, especially towards the end. I remember a moment from our childhood — our mother was narrating the story of Shravan taking his blind parents on a pilgrimage. While I quietly teared up, Mukul said, 'I'll take you and dad around the world when you turn blind.' Our mom laughed and said, 'We're perfectly fine, why do you want to blind us just to travel with us!' (laughs!). ' As he reflects on his brother's legacy, Rahul says, 'I choose to remember him not as the man who faded away, but as the super charming, intelligent, and sensitive person he truly was. Kamaal tha woh . His memory was razor sharp — he could learn South Indian dialogues in a snap while I'd take hours. He wasn't a bechara. He was incredibly gifted — he could've been anything: a pilot, a writer, an actor. He brought joy, wit, and energy into every room. That's the Mukul I knew and that's how I want the world to remember him.'
