Caerleon RAF cadets welcome Miss World as part of her Wales tour
Opal Suchata, from Thailand, was in Wales to visit Beauty With A Purpose projects supported by the Miss Wales organisation. She visited 1367 (Caerleon) Squadron Royal Air Force Air Cadets as part of the tour and was accompanied by Miss Wales 2025, Helena Hawke, an ex-cadet and now a member of the civilian committee team. Ms Hawke is using her title of Miss Wales to encourage girls to find out more about the opportunities the RAF offers young people across the UK. During her visit, Miss World took part in taster sessions showcasing some of the activities on offer to cadets including flight simulation, first aid demonstrations and a drill display and instruction. Helena Hawke, Miss Wales 2025, said: 'We were all extremely excited to welcome Miss World to Wales. To have her witness first-hand the beauty with a purpose projects we are so passionate about is wonderful. "She received the warmest Welsh welcome and most importantly saw the good work that is being done by the Miss Wales organisation on the ground to help communities throughout Wales.' Miss World also visited Welsh Women's Aid to find out more about the Ask Me Ambassador programme which educates communities about abuse of women and girls. In recent years, all Miss Wales titleholders have undergone the Ask Me Ambassador training. She also visited the laboratories supported by Cancer Research Wales at the University Hospital of Wales, which focus on world-class research spanning early diagnosis to cutting-edge treatments and survivor support. While there she was joined by former Miss Wales, now Miss UK, Millie-Mae Adams who is an ambassador for Cancer Research Wales. Opal is a campaigner for breast cancer awareness. Her advocacy, Opal For Her, is deeply personal as aged 16 she underwent surgery to remove a benign breast tumour. That experience became the catalyst for a nationwide campaign in Thailand focused on education, early detection, and empowerment.

Miss World 2025 winner Opal Suchata Chuangsri talks about getting breast cancer at 16, acting plans
Opal Suchata Chuangsri has scripted history by becoming the first Thai woman to clinch the Miss World crown, and she is determined to use the win for a good cause. She says she wants to raise awareness and shun misconceptions around breast cancer and not chase any acting dream. Thailand's Opal was crowned Miss World 2025 in Hyderabad on Saturday. Opal was crowned Miss World Thailand 2025 on April 22, just a week before she departed to Hyderabad to participate in the 72nd edition of the Miss World. Opal admits that she is still waiting for the feeling of winning the crown to sink in. 'It feels like a dream. It's so unreal. I was so shocked when I got crowned. Now, all I think about is just how the people back in my country would be so happy. This is the first crown for Thailand... My journey has been for three years in this pageant field, so this is a big milestone in my life and my career,' Opal tells us. Reflecting on what the crown means to her, the 21-year-old shares, 'It marks another point of success in terms of how my country is on the international stage... Also, about how I address the social issues which are relevant to other countries. It's basic healthcare for women. So, the crown marks another success stage of my 'beauty with purpose' voice is bigger with more spotlight shining on me.' Opal is using her platform to promote breast cancer awareness through her Opal For Her campaign. And it stems from personal experience as she got a breast lump removed surgically at the age of 16. 'When I had my breast lump removal surgery, I was 16, and we were unable to compete at the time. However, I started raising awareness with people around me because it's not very common that it happens at a young age. I was very shocked about what happened to me. That's why I wanted to speak up about it'. When she joined pageantry, Opal realised the power of her voice, as she admits, 'before that, I was an ordinary girl with no platform, trying to raise awareness with people around me'. 'When I got the chance to join pageantry, it turned out to be a bigger opportunity for me to speak up,' she says. Opal admits that there are still many misconceptions attached to breast cancer. 'A lot of people have an understanding that breast cancer or cancer in general, mostly happens to those who are above the age of 30-40... That's not true... Also, people think cancer can't be cured... It is curable if you detect it early. These are some things that I would like to address,' she says. Opal recognises that her Miss World win can open numerous doors, including a potential entry into Bollywood. But she's focused on her mission to raise awareness about breast cancer and doesn't want to get sidetracked from her goal. 'I'm quite far away from the industry. Since I'm in India and I was crowned in India, maybe there will be an opportunity to offer in the future. But I will work on that after I finish my reign as Miss World... Winning the crown comes with a responsibility and opportunity,' she shares. Opal continues, 'It is really important to really prioritise all the things that I need to do during my reign. Since there is a spotlight on one, I want to address the social issues that need to be told to the world'. These days, a lot of people think beauty pageants demean the concept of beauty by setting unrealistic standards. However, Opal doesn't agree with this. 'In Miss World, we all looked different. So, there are no such standards of how we look. Because none of us look the same. People in this world have already learned that we are unique in our ways. We need to tell younger generations that it is important to find beauty in themselves. There is no need for a feeling for them to fit into certain standards,' she says. 'We should look at ourselves and set ourselves with our standard of being better than we were yesterday,' asserts Opal, adding, 'we all have flaws, and now we're starting to accept that imperfection is perfection'. At the moment, Opal is excited to get back home. 'I'm still working on it. I will reach home hopefully soon. My people are going crazy right now. I'm very excited for the homecoming,' she ends.

Suchata Chuangsri becomes Thailand's first-ever Miss World
Suchata Chuangsri of Thailand has been crowned Miss World 2025, marking a historic first for her country at the 72nd edition of the international pageant, held this year in Hyderabad, India Chuangsri, a 22-year-old political-science student from Phuket, emerged victorious from a field of 108 contestants representing countries across the globe. She received the crown on Saturday from the reigning title-holder, Czech model Krystyna Pyszková. Chuangsri said she aimed to use the Miss World platform to raise awareness of breast cancer through her 'Opal for Her' initiative, which she has championed for over three years. Who is Opal Suchata Chuangsri? All About Thailand's First Miss World and Founder of Breast Cancer Campaign
Thailand's Opal Suchata Chuangsri made history on May 31 by winning the 72nd Miss World title. With a simple wish of being the person that someone will look up to, she brought the crown home for the first time. Suchata is now the first Thai woman to win Miss World, marking a proud moment for the country. In her speech, she said, 'I always believe that no matter who you are and no matter how old you are, no matter what title you hold in your life, there is always a person next to you, whether it's a child, whether it's an adult, it could even be your own parents, that look up to you in a way.' She added, 'And the best way to lead people is to lead with their gracefulness in your actions.' Who is Opal Suchata Chuangsri? Opal Suchata Chuangsri was born on 30 September 2003 in Phuket, Thailand. She grew up in a family of hoteliers and studied at Kajonkietsuksa School and Triam Udom Suksa School. She is fluent in Thai, English, and Chinese, and is currently studying International Relations. She hopes to become an Ambassador in the future and is also interested in Psychology and Anthropology. She has a unique talent, playing the ukulele backwards, and owns several pet cats and dogs. Suchata's profile shows her as confident, kind, and driven by purpose. At age 16, Opal launched her campaign Opal For Her to promote breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection. This mission was inspired by her own experience with a benign breast lump that required surgery. 'I believe that with the Miss World title, in the future, I could definitely make more impact and also help other projects that are in need,' she said during the pageant. This campaign served as her Beauty with a Purpose project, one of the main segments in the Miss World pageant. She shared that success, to her, means to live your life and to create a life that's better for people around you as well. Before winning Miss World 2025, Suchata was crowned Miss World Thailand on April 22, just a week before leaving for Hyderabad for the international pageant. She also represented Thailand in Miss Universe 2024, where she finished as the third runner-up. During that competition, she earned the Voice for Change - Silver award for her work in advocacy.
