New Delhi: Sterlite Electric Ltd (formerly Sterlite Power Transmission Limited) secured orders worth ₹2,400 crore in the fourth quarter of FY 2024–25, taking its total order book for the financial year to ₹7,500 crore, the company said on Wednesday. The order wins include high-performance conductors, power cables , Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), and specialised engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services. The company has also expanded its export reach across the Americas, European Union, Africa, and the Middle East. In the high-performance conductors and OPGW segment, the company received major orders for TBCB projects and EPC-based conductor supply. The OPGW segment received repeat orders from Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) and several state transmission utilities for 96F and 144F cables. Export orders for conductors continued across key international markets. OPGW demand was reported from customers in Europe and the Middle East. In the power cables segment, Sterlite Electric secured orders across the medium voltage (MV), high voltage (HV), and extra-high voltage (EHV) categories. Domestic customers included state utilities, private discoms, metro rail systems, and power generators. The company also won its first international 132 kV smart cable order from a renewable firm in South-East Asia, along with repeat orders from power utilities in Asia and Africa. It also secured its largest order for a 220 kV smart cable solution from India's largest private sector distribution utility. In specialised EPC services, the company secured projects involving uprating and reconductoring of existing transmission assets using advanced ACCC technology to enhance grid capacity and stability.

Alappuzha sees surge in KFON connections

The Kerala Fibre Optic Network Ltd (KFON), State government's broadband Internet service, is witnessing an increase in connections in Alappuzha. In a statement issued here on Thursday, KFON said the promise of high-speed internet at affordable rates was drawing more people to the service. So far, 3,488 KFON connections have been provided in Alappuzha district. 'The project has laid 1,678.82 kms of cable in the district to date. This includes 155.47 kms of OPGW (Optical Ground Wire) cables laid through KSEB transmission towers and 1,523.352 kms of ADSS (All-dielectric self-supporting) cables laid along KSEB posts. Currently, 1,181 government offices in the district, including the Collectorate, are utilising the KFON network,' the statement reads. A total of 369 Below the Poverty Line (BPL) households in the district have been provided with KFON connections. Besides, 1,938 commercial connections have been established in the district through local operators. Twelve SME connections have also been provided in the district. Currently, 115 local network operators are collaborating with KFON in Alappuzha. Advait Energy secures ₹86.14 cr order from PGCIL for OPGW supply, installation

New Delhi: Advait Energy Transitions Limited (formerly known as Advait Infratech Limited) has been awarded a contract worth ₹86.14 crore (excluding taxes) by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited ( PGCIL ) for the supply and installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) and communication equipment across transmission lines at pan-India locations. The company said the order was accepted on May 14, 2025, in the normal course of business. The project falls under the Bulk Implementation (Supply + Erection) framework. The scope of the order includes Package OPGW-04 and is to be completed within 12 months from the date of issuance of lot-wise implementation instructions. According to the company, the project marks a strategic milestone and further strengthens its footprint in India's national power transmission network through the deployment of advanced communication infrastructure.
