Vivo To Finally Launch Phones With OriginOS Outside Of China? Here's What We Know

Last Updated: Vivo launched its new foldable in the country this month and soon we could see its OS experience change in India as per new reports. Vivo phones have launched with Funtouch OS in markets like India and other regions for many years. The company has the OriginOS available for its devices in China. The experience of using Funtouch and OriginOS has been claimed to be stark, and many people have asked the company to bring the latter to more regions with its phones. And it seems Vivo is going to oblige to their requests after all these years. New details via a tipster this week suggests Vivo's next phone launch could be the first to come with OriginOS outside of China. The news about Vivo bringing OriginOS to India has been shared by tipster Abhishek Yadav in a post on X this week. His source has even suggested that the new version will be based on Android 16 and launch with the rumoured Vivo V60 model in the region. ExclusiveVivo V60 is launching in India on August 19, 2025!The same source also reveals that OriginOS based on Android 16 will debut in India alongside the launch. — Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) July 15, 2025 The OriginOS available in China does not have Google Play Store or any other Google services, which Vivo will have to integrate if the OS releases in India. We have previously asked Vivo about its plans to replace Funtouch OS with OriginOS in India and most times the brand has talked about studying the feasibility of making it happen without ever giving us a clear timeline. If Vivo does bring OriginOS to the market next month with the V60 model, we expect the teasers and news about the development to go mainstream in the next few weeks. The company launched its X Fold 5 flagship foldable and the X200 FE compact phone in the Indian market earlier this month, and having OriginOS running on them will surely be a game changer. Most of our Vivo reviews have said good things about the hardware, and even though Funtouch OS has gotten better over the years, the impact of OriginOS for the company could be much higher, especially when people already know about its experience through videos from China. We'll be keeping a close eye on these details and hope the tipster has got his sources spot on. view comments Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. vivo V60's renders surface

vivo unveiled the vivo V50 in February, and it's rumored to follow it up with the V60 next month. A recent rumor claimed that the vivo V60 will launch in India on August 19, and it will be the first smartphone in the country to run OriginOS, which has been exclusive to China thus far. Today, we are looking at the leaked renders of the V60, which reveal its design. vivo V50 The source who leaked these renders claims that the vivo V60 will be available in three colors - Mist Grey, Auspicious Gold, and Moonlit Blue. However, the images only show the gold and blue models. vivo V60 The vivo V60 resembles the China-exclusive vivo S30, except that it features the ZEISS logo on its camera island, indicating that the V60's cameras were co-developed with ZEISS. vivo S30 The source claimed that the vivo V60 is expected to come with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, a quad-curved display, a 6,500 mAh battery, and 50MP cameras. A previous rumor said the V60 will boot OriginOS based on Android 16. The vivo S30 shares these hardware specs but runs Android 15 instead. Vivo V60 5G mobile: Price in India, specifications, camera, OS upgrade and more

Vivo only recently released the Vivo X200 FE and now it looks like the company is on the horizon of launching yet another camera centric phone. And this time it could be the Vivo V60. Vivo V50e (representative image)(Aishwarya Panda-HT) This information comes from the tipster Abhishek Yadav on X who says that the Vivo V60 isn't far away and could launch the very next month on August 19, 2025. He also reveals another interesting detail that will be a big differentiator with the phone compared to Vivo's launches so far. Here are the details. Vivo could switch up the OS with Vivo V60 Tipster Abhishek Yadav says that the source who revealed the launch of the Vivo V60 also says that Vivo could bring in Origin OS which is based on Android 16 alongside the Vivo V60 for its debut in India. And this is going to be a big differentiator compared to the Funtouch OS that we see in Vivo's phones. Origin OS is notably for Vivo's phones in China and globally the company has shipped Funtouch OS. Here are the anticipated specs of Vivo V60 Reports suggest that the Vivo V60 could be a tweaked version of the Vivo S30 and if the Vivo S30 specifications are to go by, the Vivo V60 could get a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, support 120Hz and could get the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. For optics, the phone could get a triple camera setup, likely consisting of a 50MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto camera and an 8MP ultrawide shooter. The Vivo S30 also packs a 6500mAh battery and support 19W Flash charging support. But again, these are the specifications of the Vivo S30 and while reports do suggest that the Vivo V60 could resemble this one, it should be taken with a grain of salt especially considering Vivo has yet to reveal details about the Vivo V60 in India. Vivo V60: Expected Price Vivo's last few phones in the V series have launched around the ₹40,000 price bracket, and considering its latest Vivo X200 FE launched upwards of ₹50,000, it wouldn't make sense for Vivo to launch the new phone around the same price point, especially since other lineups are occupying the sub- ₹35,000 bracket as well. Vivo V60 leak hints at Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 SoC, 6,500mAh battery and triple cameras: Launch timeline tipped

Vivo is reportedly gearing up to unveil the successor to its V50 smartphone in India next month. The upcoming Vivo V60, expected to launch on 19 August, has been the subject of several leaks, revealing key specifications, colour variants, and even design renders ahead of its official debut. According to noted tipster Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), the Vivo V60 could come equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset, a notable upgrade over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 featured in the V50. The handset is also said to pack a massive 6,500mAh battery, potentially supporting 90W fast charging, as hinted by recent TUV and SIRIM listings. Brar suggests that the upcoming smartphone may continue the brand's focus on photography, possibly offering 50MP cameras, although the exact camera configuration remains unclear. The leaked renders point to a triple rear camera setup, arranged uniquely within a pill-shaped camera island, with an additional lens and LED flash positioned alongside it. Vivo's branding appears on the bottom-left corner of the rear panel. In terms of aesthetics, the Vivo V60 could be launched in three distinct colour options: Mist Grey, Moonlit Blue, and Auspicious Gold, further adding to its premium appeal. Adding to the excitement, the tipster also claims that Vivo might introduce OriginOS, its custom user interface based on Android 16, in India alongside the new handset. This would mark the first appearance of OriginOS in the Indian market, offering a fresh user experience compared to the company's traditional Funtouch OS. The Vivo V60 is expected to bring several upgrades over its predecessor, the Vivo V50, which made its Indian debut in February this year. The V50 features a 6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED display with full-HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 4,500 nits. It is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 SoC and houses a 6,000mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging. Camera-wise, it sports a dual rear camera setup (50MP main + 50MP ultrawide) and a 50MP front camera.

vivo unveils Pad5, but we've seen it before

The vivo S30 series was introduced yesterday and alongside them the company introduced a new tablet. The vivo Pad5 tablet is identical to the iQOO Pad5, down to the memory configurations and prices. The one and only difference between the vivo-branded Pad5 and the iQOO-branded Pad5 is the available colors. The vivo Pad5 comes with a Dimensity 9300+ chipset, coupled with three RAM variants (8/12/16 GB) and three storage options (128/256/512 GB), split into four memory combinations. The tablet's built around a 12.1' LCD with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and a resolution of 2,800 x 1,968 px. The circular camera island features a single 8 MP camera. The front camera, which is arguably the more important one, has a 5 MP sensor. This vivo Pad5 features a 10,000 mAh battery that can theoretically provide over 8 hours of video calls. It's also great for note-taking, as it supports a cover keyboard and a stylus, along with some AI capabilities offered by OriginOS 5. vivo Pad5 The vivo Pad5 is available in Blue, Pink, or Black and costs CNY 2,499 ($350/€310) for 8/128 GB, CNY 2,799 ($390/€350)for 8/256 GB, CNY 3,099 ($430/€380) for 12/256 GB, and CNY 3,499 ($485/€430) for 16/512 GB. We don't expect this tablet to ever be sold outside China. Source (in Chinese)
