‘Marty stop that! You can't do it!': Scorsese reveals he toyed with buying a gun to threaten film studio

Oscar-winning film director Martin Scorsese threatened to buy a gun when in a rage at a film studio, according to a new docuseries about his life. After suggested edits to his 1976 movie Taxi Driver, which starred Robert De Niro, he flew into such a fury that he began threatening to take the law into his own hands. 'Marty was very upset,' says Steven Spielberg. 'We get a call at the office: 'Steve, Steve, it's Marty. Can you come over to the house? They want me to cut all the blood spurting, they want me to cut the guy who loses his hand.'' 'He was going crazy,' adds fellow director Brian De Palma. 'I mean, the story is he wanted to kill the head of the studio.' Scorsese himself claims that his plans were slightly less extreme, even if he did claim at the time that he had every intention of buying a weapon. 'I don't know. I was angry. I said I was going to threaten them, or maybe just shoot or something. I had no idea,' he says. Instead, the director's actual plan involved a different sort of crime. 'What I wanted to do – and not with a gun – I would go in, find out where the rough cut is and break the windows and take it back,' he explains. 'They're going to destroy the film anyway, so let me destroy it. I'll destroy it. But before destroying it, I'm going to steal it. 'Spielberg said: 'Marty stop that! Marty, you can't do it!' And the more they said no, the more I said I was going to do it.' The scenes come from an Apple TV+ documentary series, Mr Scorsese, which looks at the director's life and work drawing on access to his private archives. It features interviews with family, friends and colleagues including De Niro, Daniel Day-Lewis, Sharon Stone, Margot Robbie and Mick Jagger. It was not the first time that the director uttered violent threats during the production of Taxi Driver. He also infamously appeared in the movie as a passenger who planned to murder his wife after discovering her infidelity, performing a calm monologue strewn with racist language and threats of gun-related violence. Ultimately, a compromise to the editing crisis was struck, meaning that Taxi Driver was able to retain controversial blood-soaked scenes. In the words of Spielberg: 'It saved the movie because he didn't have to cut any of the violence. He just had to take the colour red down to a colour brown.'

Teri Hatcher Posts 'No-Filter,' Makeup-Free Selfie: 'It's Okay to Be Real'

'I choose gratitude for the time gifted in every wrinkle,' the 'Desperate Housewives' alum saidNEED TO KNOW Teri Hatcher is embracing her makeup-free look while encouraging others to 'be real' The Desperate Housewives actress, 60, shared some selfies while on an evening walk, proudly showing off her 'naked face' and smile 'I choose gratitude for the time gifted in every wrinkle,' she saidTeri Hatcher has a simple message for anyone who may have doubts when it comes to showcasing their natural self. On Tuesday, Aug. 5, the 60-year-old Desperate Housewives alum posted several makeup-free Instagram photos of herself to let others know that 'it's okay to be real.' Her cover photo was a four-picture collage of her 'Walking at sunset in that magical golden hour any Oscar-winning DP [director of photography] would chase.' According to Hatcher, this made her wonder what the hype surrounding the lighting was about, and 'what is the difference.' 'So, Here's a no-filter shot of me facing the sun, and with it at my back," the Tomorrow Never Dies actress wrote. "Every line…a story of real human effort, successes & flaws. Feel free to zoom in. Is one angle more forgiving? More 'beautiful'?' Instead of focusing on how people 'frame beauty,' Hatcher shared her own perception of beauty. 'I choose gratitude for the time gifted in every wrinkle," she concluded. "I first put my naked face out there in 2010—everyone told me I was crazy but 15 years later, I'm still here, still saying it's okay to be real." In addition to several sunset photos from her evening stroll, the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman star shared a Google search result and articles from 2010 when she went 'makeup free to prove no botox,' as well as a post with a headline that read, 'Teri Hatcher Moves Forehead, Squints Eyes.' The actress went viral in December 2019 after she shared two photos of herself in a bikini as a way of being 'vulnerable.' She was 55 years old at the time, and called the results of a then-recent 8-week F45 challenge 'liberating,' so much so that she felt called to post her unedited images. At the time, Hatcher told Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager on Today with Hoda and Jenna that she did the program 'not to lose weight but to be healthy and feel better and to lift weights and get stronger.' 'That's what I was trying to pay attention to,' the actress said. 'And just be happier — be in a better mental place.' 'When I saw it, it wasn't that I thought, 'Oh, wow, look how great I look' or anything,' she explained. 'I just felt like I wanted to be vulnerable. I wanted to say to women, to everybody, you know, 'Here's who I am at 55. This is it. I'm not lying. I'm a strong woman. I'm a strong person.' ' In January 2020, following her 55th birthday, Hatcher spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about feeling confident while starring in a German fashion photoshoot. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. The Tango & Cash actress admitted she had her doubts in the beginning: 'There is that voice in my head that says, 'You are a 55-year-old woman.. What am I doing?!' ' However, famed photographer Randall Slavin made her feel unstoppable. 'He said to me, 'You know, 55 is the new 55,' ' Hatcher recalled him saying. ' 'Women are still crushing it and feeling sexy.' Brad Pitt's rare comment about Ines de Ramon shows their romance is getting serious

Brad Pitt has found romance after his lengthy legal battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. The Oscar-winning actor, 61, and jewelry designer girlfriend Ines de Ramon, 35, heated things up during a date night at the premiere for Pitt's new film, "F1: The Movie." During the London event, Pitt made rare comments about his relationship with de Ramon. As Pitt stepped out on the red carpet, a reporter asked him how it felt to have his girlfriend's support. Pitt replied to Access Hollywood with a big smile, "Well sure, of course – you know, it takes two." As the couple dazzled together on the red carpet, their romance was on full display. De Ramon fixed Pitt's tie, and he showed his appreciation, flashing a smile at his girlfriend. Pitt sported a tailored two-piece suit featuring a double-breasted jacket with gray buttons and matching pants. He wore a light-colored open dress shirt underneath and a light green satin scarf to complete his ensemble. His girlfriend stunned in a sparkly silver gown with a matching fringed purse. De Ramon's hair was styled down in loose curls. The pair appeared head over heels, walking hand in hand on the red carpet together. As sparks fly between Pitt and de Ramon, sources shared that the "Bullet Train" actor has been focused on a low-key personal life. "Brad has always had a good balance between being in the spotlight and having a private life," a source told US Weekly. While the actor is no stranger to red carpets and camera flashes, Pitt has embraced a quieter lifestyle in recent years, according to another source. When Pitt's not in the spotlight, he reportedly enjoys spending his free time sculpting, listening to music and spending time with a tight-knit group of longtime friends. "He likes a slower [pace] now," the source shared. Earlier this month, Pitt and de Ramon were spotted cozying up in a rare public appearance in New York City. The pair went on a double date with A-list couple Bradley Cooper and model Gigi Hadid. Pitt and de Ramon stepped out hand in hand to dine at Cote Korean Steakhouse in New York City with their celebrity pals. The "F1" actor's rare comments about his girlfriend this week come after he broke his silence on his eight-year divorce battle with his ex, Jolie. Pitt and Jolie's legal wrangling concluded in December 2024, marking the end of one of Hollywood's most publicized divorces. When asked by GQ last month if he felt "different being on the other side of the divorce finally being finalized" and if there was a sense of "relief," he simply replied, "No, I don't think it was that major of a thing. Just something coming to fruition. Legally." He also laughed off a question about whether he and de Ramon deliberately decided to appear together publicly for the first time at an F1 race. "No, dude, it's not that calculated," Pitt laughingly told GQ. "If you're living, oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you're living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve." Pitt and de Ramon confirmed their relationship in 2022 after the actor's divorce from Jolie. Pitt and Jolie were declared legally single in 2019. In September 2016, there was an alleged altercation on a flight Pitt and wife Jolie took with their six children. Days after the alleged incident, Jolie filed for divorce. Her lawyers have claimed Pitt had been abusive toward her prior to the incident, but that was the first time he'd allegedly involved the children. The FBI conducted an investigation in 2016, and no charges were filed against him. He's denied the allegations of physical abuse. In December 2024, eight years after Jolie originally filed for divorce, the former couple reached a settlement. Jolie and Pitt met on the set of their 2004 movie, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," and went public with their romance after the actor and his wife at the time, Jennifer Aniston, announced their separation. In August 2014, the former couple tied the knot at their French vineyard, Château Miraval. The two share sons Maddox, Pax and Knox and daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne.
