If you want underrated Netflix shows, then watch these three programs (August 1-3)
While Netflix and TV mean the same thing for some people, that doesn't necessarily mean that finding something worth your time is all that easy. If you've ever found yourself scrolling through Netflix searching for just the right movie or show, then you know that the recommendations you get aren't necessarily always perfect. In light of the limitations of the algorithm, we've pulled together a list of three underrated shows that are all available on Netflix and all well worth your time. Take a look: Recommended Videos We also have guides to the best new movies to stream, the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on HBO Max, and the best movies on Disney+. Outlander (2014-) Although this show debuted to critical acclaim and has maintained a devoted fandom throughout its long run on the air, Outlander is no longer as beloved or popular as it once was. The series is romantic high fantasy and follows a woman living in the 1950s as she's transported 200 years into the past. She finds herself torn between the husband she left behind and the new man she's falling for in the past. Breathtakingly romantic, Outlander is definitely a show about love and all of its many complications and dramas, but it's incredibly good at being that. You can watch Outlander on Netflix. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp (2015) The 2001 film Wet Hot American Summer remains, in some ways, the ideal gonzo comedy of its era. Nothing in the movie makes much sense, and none of it really has to, in part because it features a cast filled with people who would go on to become major stars. First Day of Camp attempts to recapture the magic of that original film and succeeds to a larger extent than you might expect. Not every single joke lands, but as a vehicle for laughs, you could do a lot worse than this revival series, which managed to get even Paul Rudd to show up for a moment. You can watch Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp on Netflix. Chef's Table: BBQ (2020) A show that's guaranteed to make even the vegetarians amongst us hungry, Chef's Table: BBQ is a food travelogue that hones in on barbecue in all of its various forms and travels all around the world to sample them. While Netflix offers many excellent food documentaries, this season of Chef's Table uniquely enhances your appreciation for a type of cuisine that has been integral to most people's lives for years. Barbecue has plenty of long, beautiful traditions, and Chef's Table: BBQ shines a spotlight on all of them. You can watch Chef's Table: BBQ on Netflix.

Love Outlander? This slightly silly prequel is bound to satisfy
Outlander: Blood of My Blood ★★★ Full disclosure: I have not watched a lot of the long-running Outlander, to which this new series is a standalone prequel. But I am across the influence the series has had on the TV landscape in the past decade. Based on the bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander is a genre-mashing time-travel romance. The ongoing series follows Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a forward-thinking former military nurse who, on holiday with her husband in Scotland, finds herself transported back to the 18th century while visiting a (fictional) stone circle. Claire falls in with a group of rebel Highlanders, eventually marrying the leader's hunky son Jamie (Sam Heughan) – initially for protection but the two soon fall madly in love. The kind you leave your husband back in the 20th century for. But while Outlander's audience has largely been women – it was once described as ' Game of Thrones for soccer moms' – it's not all hastily removed breeches and bodices, as Jamie and Claire become key players in the Jacobite rising. The TV adaptation has been lauded for its representation of women as multidimensional, and eagerly applauded for its (many) steamy sex scenes, which put women's desire into the foreground. Outlander has also been praised for its largely accurate portrayal of Scottish history, even if 18th-century Scotland was likely far more patriarchal than the version Claire encounters. (The sexual violence that caused controversy in the first couple of seasons is likely accurate.) Ahead of the final, eighth season, which is due early next year, this prequel takes the same premise but with two sets of couples: the parents of Claire and Jamie. Blood of my Blood opens with Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) mourning the death of her father and fearing who will take his place as the new 'laird'. She's told to focus on finding a husband but marriage has never interested her – until she meets the mysterious Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), from a rival clan.

She explored the coastal village of Elgol before catching a ride with family-run Misty Isles Boat Trips who took her across from Loch Coriusk to Loch Scavaig. The showbiz fave said: 'We just took an amazing boat trip from Elgol to the loch. 'It was incredible. If you're ever in Elgol, don't miss these people 'Thanks to the family matriarch Anne for telling us to put the pedal to the metal and get on board, and you were right - your grandson Seamus was the best. 'Oh and don't forget to pack sandwiches from Cafe Elgol.' Anne MacKinnon runs the firm, while Seamus captains the boat. Cynthia added: 'He was the best. A true Skye seafarer – calm, funny, and full of fascinating tales.' We previously told how Sex And the City creator Candace Bushnell insisted she made Scotsmen sexy long before Outlander - after featuring a hot kilt wearing hunk in her hit TV show. The New York author - who was the basis for Sarah Jessica Parker's journalist character Carrie Bradshaw - is quick to point out that Kyle MacLachlan portrayed Charlotte's tartan-clad hubby Trey MacDougal in the series. Sarah Jessica Parker, 59, fans say star 'hasn't aged a day' as she films And Just Like That in sheer dress Candace said: 'One of the most popular characters from the show was Trey MacDougal, played brilliantly by Kyle MacLachlan. 'Although he didn't have a Scots accent, he was of Scottish descent and was steeped in Scots traditions as we even saw him get married to Charlotte in his kilt. 'I mean, a Scotsman in a kilt? "You can't beat that, can you? It's the fantasy. "So we were way ahead of Outlander with our sexy male stereotypes.'
