Delhi's Traffic Woes To Ease With New Elevated Roads And Tunnels Worth Rs 24,000 Crore

Last Updated: The Centre greenlit Rs 24,000 crore for new road and tunnel projects in Delhi to ease traffic, modernise infrastructure, and boost regional connectivity In a major move to address traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the national capital, the central government has approved a series of major infrastructure projects worth Rs 24,000 crore. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday. Present at the meeting were Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, MCD Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, and other senior officials. During the session, current and future road infrastructure plans for Delhi were reviewed in detail. Minister Nitin Gadkari reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure in the capital. He noted that ongoing projects worth Rs 34,000 crore are already under construction, including flyover extensions, highway widening, and the creation of signal-free corridors, all aimed at improving traffic flow and upgrading ageing roadways. Fresh projects amounting to Rs 24,000 crore were approved, including the construction of underground tunnels, elevated corridors, and new highways: Nitin Gadkari directed NHAI to oversee drainage and water management alongside road construction to prevent future waterlogging. Delhi PWD will partner in these efforts. In a notable sustainable initiative, NHAI will use the city's solid waste in road construction, as previously practised, an important step in tackling Delhi's waste mountain. Additionally, Rs 150 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Rail Under Bridges (RUBs) at key railway crossings to reduce congestion. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his continued support, stating: 'Delhi has now received infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1.25 lakh crore from the Central Government. This reflects the Prime Minister's vision and the dedicated efforts of Nitin Gadkari ji." First Published:

Ahmedabad Weather Forecast Live: IPL 2025 Final, RCB vs PBKS: Are there chances of rain?

Where the start of play is delayed or play is suspended for any reason, then extra time of (i) up to sixty minutes shall be available for each IPL regular season match; and (ii) up to one hundred and twenty minutes for any of the play-off matches. For the avoidance of doubt, if extra time is required to be used, it will be taken in the following sequence. In the event of a delayed start or interruption, the provision of sixty minutes (or one hundred and twenty minutes for play-off matches) extra time is to be used first, followed by the time allocated for 'time outs', and then the reduction in the innings change interval (if applicable). For clarity, the changeover period (maximum 10 mins) for a Super Over after the main match is not to be taken into account when applying any permitted extra time available. For the play-off matches, in addition to the extra time referred to above, there may be reserve days (on which an incomplete play-off match shall be completed). In case of a rare washout on both days, the team who finished at the higher position in the IPL points table will win the trophy. This means that Punjab Kings will be crowned champions in the case of a rare washout on both days. If Rain Washes Out IPL Final on June 3 In case the match does not get completed due to rain on Tuesday, there is a reserve date attached to the game. In case of a complete washout, the match takes place on June 4. If the Match Does Not Get Completed on June 3 Imagine a case where the match remains incomplete on June 3, the scheduled date for the final. There is ample time to finish it, given there is a two-hour grace period given to every game. It means that the cut-off time for today is at 11:56 PM. In case the match starts, and then does not get finished, it will be paused and restarted on the next day. As per Arunkumar Dasane, director of the Ahmedabad weather department, Tuesday's weather isn't overly promising. "Our forecast for tomorrow indicates light to moderate rainfall in isolated areas, particularly for Ahmedabad and nearby regions. "The temperature in Ahmedabad is expected to be around 37 degrees, with a high likelihood of cloudy skies," said Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings are set to play the Indian Premier League final on Tuesday, June 3. The match, being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, is set to be affected by rain.

City Proposes Rs510 Crore Mobility Overhaul With 8 Flyovers, 3 ROBs To Ease Traffic Woes

1 2 Nagpur: To decongest major junctions and streamline city traffic, the newly proposed Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) outlines the construction of eight grade separators and three Rail Over/Under Bridges (ROBs/RUBs) across Nagpur. The Rs510 crore draft plan, prepared by MahaMetro in collaboration with RITES, is still in the proposal stage and open to feedback from all stakeholders. The project focuses on addressing key traffic choke points and eliminating delays caused by level crossings. Grade separators, which include flyovers and underpasses, form the core of the strategy and are planned in three phases. Two flyovers estimated at Rs90 crore will be taken up in the first phase. The remaining six, split evenly between phase 2 and phase 3, are projected to cost Rs135 crore each, bringing the total flyover investment to Rs360 crore. Proposed flyover locations include high-traffic zones such as RBI Chowk, Manewada Chowk, Ajni Square, Koradi Naka, Kamptee, Medical Chowk, Tathagat Chowk, and New Katol Naka. To ease congestion at railway level crossings, three ROBs/RUBs have also been proposed. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dermatologista recomenda: simples truque elimina o fungo facilmente Acabe com o Fungo Undo These will be developed in later stages of the CMP — two in phase 2 with an estimated cost of Rs100 crore and one in phase 3 costing Rs50 crore. The ROBs are designed as 4-lane carriageways with a 30-meter railway span and a vertical clearance of 6.5 meters, aiming to meet long-term capacity demands. Officials emphasised that the CMP is not a finalised blueprint but a dynamic framework built on present infrastructure assessments and future urban growth projections. Input is being actively encouraged before any implementation decisions are made. Last month, a meeting was held at the divisional commissionerate with all key stakeholders, including MahaMetro, NMC, NIT, the traffic department, and others, to discuss the CMP. This was the second such meeting on the CMP. Officials stated that a final round of discussions will be held soon, after which the plan will be submitted to the state govt for approval prior to implementation. "The CMP is a vision document. It looks at both present needs and long-term requirements. We want experts and stakeholders to weigh in before anything is finalised," said a senior official involved in the project. The plan also complements other long-term strategies, such as strengthening public transport, improving pedestrian infrastructure, and enhancing last-mile connectivity. While the current Rs510 crore proposal prioritises high-impact traffic zones, further infrastructure upgrades could be incorporated based on feedback and funding. Once finalised and approved, the CMP will serve as a key roadmap for urban mobility development in Nagpur over the next decade. For now, the focus remains on consultation, refinement, and building consensus around the city's transport future.
