Take measures to promote agri-productivity, officials urged

Nellore: Speaker sat the District Review Committee (DRC) meeting chaired by ZP Chairperson Anam Arunamma has stressed the need for official machinery to feel responsible for the development of agriculture by clearing hurdles in cultivation. The speakers also urged the officials to initiate steps for proper supply of urea in the current agriculture season to avoid unrest among the farmers. The meeting also discussed about P-4, Swarnandra@2047 and irrigation issues. Speaking on the occasion, Sarvepalle MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy has demanded the DRC to take steps for strengthening Sarvepalle reservoir to protect the interests of farmers. MLC Tumati Madhava Rao pointed out that there was unrest among the farmers as the government was forcibly acquiring fertile lands in Karedu village for the establishment of a unit owned by Indosole company. Udayagiri MLA Kakarla Suresh has urged the government for expanding the sub-canals in his constituency as the farmers were facing problems of lack of proper irrigation facility during the peak agriculture season. Kavali, Kovur and Sarvepalle MLAs Dagumati Venkata Krishna Reddy, Vemireddy Prasanthi Reddy and Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy respectively raised questions on deployment of agriculture assistants in their constituencies extending support to the farmers of their needs. Responding to the issues raised by the public representatives, District Collector O Anand has said that the government has issued notification for acquiring only 4,800 acres related to Indosole company at Karedu village. The Collector said that there was no scarcity for urea as the administration has placed the indent. He felt that farmers were utilising urea more than what is required leading to the shortage. The Collector said that agriculture assistants would be deployed on depuration in areas required. He said that as many 1825 Margadarsis have so far adopted 25,000 Bangaru Kutumbalu in the district. In all, 1,06, 800 Bangaru Kutumbalu have been identified in the district. Law minister and also in-charge minister for nellore district NMD Farooq has said that the government would ensure all-round development of farmers in the district. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has said that water for agriculture purpose was allocated as per the decision in recent Irrigation Advisory Board (IAB) meeting. He said that till date, 23 tmcft of water was utilised for ongoing agriculture operations He said said that there was a possibility of more water reaching Penna River as heavy rains are expected in coming months. He said that a mega job mela was being planned at Atmakur on August 2 and 3. As many as 60 big companies are expected to take part and provide jobs to 1,400 people. Minister of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Ponguru Narayana, Kandukur MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao, Agriculture JD P. Satyavani and others were present.

Bhimavaram: West Godavari district collector Chadalawada Nagarani has urged charitable individuals to register as P4 mentors. She came to know about Annadana services being continued by Tulasi Rambabu at Veeravasaram and visited the venue on Wednesday. She congratulated his family. She tasted the food items. She enquired Rambabu on details of his food donation. Rambabu explained that for the last five years, food items have been served at their homes to about 200 elderly people and those who cannot prepare food in 18 villages of Veeravasaram mandal. He said that along with vegetables, non-vegetarian curry is also being served every Wednesday and Sunday. He said that besides cooking every day, food in steel boxes is sent to the homes of the needy, which is enough for two meals. He said that five staff members have been appointed for all the work of preparing the food, packing food, and taking it in an auto. It costs about Rs 8,000 to 10,000 per day to prepare and serve meals to 200 people, and it costs about Rs 30 lakh to 35 lakh per year. He said that this programme has been continued for the last five years without collecting or accepting any donations from anyone, by the grace of God. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Nagarani said that Annadanam is the greatest of all charities, and it is a great thing for a person to continuously carry out such a great work for the last five years. Looking at the service programme organised by Rambabu, he reminds us of the P-4 programme launched by the Chief Minister. On the occasion, she called upon charitable individuals to come forward to register as P4 mentors as per the call of the Chief Minister. Veeravasaram Tahsildar Ramanjaneyulu, MPP Veeravalli Durga Bhavani, Rambabu's wife Varalakshmi, daughter Govardhini, father Srirama Murthy, and others were present on this occasion.

Vijayawada: This year's 79th Independence Day celebrations on August 15 will be held in the state capital, Amaravati, for the first time. Chief secretary K Vijayanand announced the decision after a review meeting with officials from various departments at the Secretariat. The event will take place behind the State Secretariat, in the same area recently used for the P-4 and World Population Day events. Given the monsoon season and the new venue, Vijayanand emphasised the need for fool-proof preparations. He directed officials to ensure meticulous planning and execution, leaving no room for error. CRDA commissioner Kannababu was specifically tasked with leveling the ground and setting up German tents over the main stage and seating areas to counter potential rain. Additional DGP Madhusudan Reddy was instructed to manage traffic flow to prevent disruptions, while Guntur District Collector Nagalakshmi will oversee invitations and protocol. In a move to showcase government achievements, the information department was directed to arrange special tableaux highlighting development and welfare schemes. The celebrations will also feature the chief guest's message on these initiatives and will be broadcast live. Principal secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena outlined the schedule, with the parade starting at 8.30 am and the Chief Minister arriving at 8.58 am. The event is set to conclude by 10.30 am. Buildings like the Raj Bhavan, CM Camp Office, and state Secretariat will be decorated with lights for the occasion.

People asked to join as partners in P-4 programme

Nellore: District Collector O Anand has called upon the people to join as partners in P-4 programme with an objective to eradicate poverty in the district. The Collector has inaugurated a one-day workshop on.P-4 concept at Tikkana Pranganam on the premises of the Collectorate here on Thursday. Stating that P-4 was a voluntary concept, he said that it would provide an opportunity to the local philanthropists and financially well-settled sections in the society to voluntarily join the programme and ensure its success. He said that in view of propagating the programme, the administration has set up a call center with the number 1800-425-1999 for clarification of doubts over P-4. The Collector urged the officials who participated in the workshop to utilise the opportunity as it is meant to motivate the people towards skill development and various business opportunities. He said that it will be mandatory to receive feedback from the local public representatives and MLAs in the selection of Bangaru Kutumbalu. Voluntary organisations should be involved to ensure success of the P-4 programme. Atmakur RDO Pavani, Planning department in-charge officer Lakshmi Narasimhulu and others were present.
