Champaign Co. Crime Stoppers announces 6 arrests, $11k in rewards through tips in May
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign County Crime Stoppers is highlighting the work of anonymous tipsters during the month of May in helping law enforcement make Champaign County a safer place. Officials said that during the month, anonymous tips from the public resulted in the following: six arrests, the seizure of four illegally possessed guns and ammunition and the seizure of illegal narcotics and drug packaging materials. The organization's Board of Directors approved $11,100 in cash rewards, including four $2,500 rewards through the Illegal Gun Bounty Reward Program. Champaign Police looking for tips in $500 theft from Kohl's 'Once again, the public came through to provide anonymous information that took dangerous felons and illegal weapons and drugs off the streets of Champaign County,' said John Hecker, President of Champaign County Crime Stoppers. 'Crime Stoppers works thanks to the trust and support of our community members, the local media, and law enforcement. Thank you to all those who submitted tips or otherwise help support our nonprofit organization.' Champaign Police looking for tips in $500 theft from Kohl's
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign Police Department is asking for help through Crime Stoppers in solving a case of retail theft. The theft happened Nov. 19 at the Kohl's on Convenience Center Road. Officials said that a man walked into the store just after 9 a.m. and hid several items in a duffel bag. He then walked out of the store, making no attempt to pay for the items he selected. The stolen merchandise was worth nearly $500. UPDATE: State Police name victims, release new info in Shelby Co. car vs. train crash The suspect was recorded on security cameras; he appeared to be a Black male wearing a navy-blue Adidas sweatshirt and white sneakers. He left the area in a gray sedan, possibly a Hyundai Elantra. Anyone who has information about this crime, such as the identity of the thief, is asked to submit their knowledge to Champaign County Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted by calling 217-373-8477, visiting the organization's website or using the P3 Tips app. All tips to Crime Stoppers are both anonymous, even to law enforcement, and eligible for a cash reward if an arrest is made using the tip. Man dies after possible fall from high-rise balcony in Victoria Park
Calgary police are investigating the death of a man in the downtown area early Sunday morning. Article content Article content Officers responded to reports that a man may have fallen from a high-rise balcony in the 1100 block of 3rd St. S.E. around 5 a.m. Sunday, police said in a news release. Article content 'Upon arrival, a man was located in medical distress and transported to hospital in life-threatening condition where he eventually succumbed to his injuries,' the Calgary Police Service said in a news release. Police seeking suspect in alleged murder attempt in Kahuku
COURTESY HPD Suspect Ikaika Reed COURTESY HPD Suspect Ikaika Reed Honolulu police today released a photo of suspect Ikaika Reed, who is wanted in connection with a second-degree murder attempt in Kahuku. Police said that Reed, 45, remains at large after allegedly shooting a woman in the back last week. He should be considered armed and dangerous. Police said the shooting occurred at about 2 a.m. last Wednesday, when Reed and the victim, a 30-year-old woman, got into a verbal argument while sitting inside of a vehicle. Reed then allegedly shot the woman in the back and fled the scene on foot. Police said witnesses transported the victim to Kahuku Hospital in critical condition. Anyone with information on Reed's whereabouts is urged to call 911. Police hunt vehicle and driver involved in hit-and-run pedestrian collision
Police investigators are on the lookout for a driver and vehicle they say were involved in a hit-and-run collision in downtown Calgary early Wednesday. Article content It's believed a fight had taken place on the sidewalk between a 63-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, police said in a news release, followed by a light-coloured SUV entering the adjacent parking lot.
