Xbox Game Pass additions for August include Assassin's Creed Mirage
Microsoft has revealed the first batch of Xbox Game Pass additions for August, and there are several tasty options in store over the next couple of weeks. The first one lands today on Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Standard in the form of Rain World , a difficult survival platform game. In case that's not your tempo, though, you won't have to wait long for other things to play. On August 7, Assassin's Creed Mirage will hit Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. I enjoyed this tighter, more focused take on the Assassin's Creed formula quite a bit , especially considering how bloated these games have become in recent years (that said, AC Shadows is one of my favorite games of this year so far). Mirage is worth checking out if you dig the series but haven't taken a leap of faith with that installment yet. Several titles are joining the Game Pass Standard tier in the first two weeks of August, including Citizen Sleeper 2 — an acclaimed RPG that debuted earlier this year — on Wednesday. Survival shooter Aliens: Fireteam Elite returns to Game Pass on August 12 as well, while roguelike kingdom builder 9 Kings arrives in game preview on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, but only for PC for the time being. Those are Anthem (Console and PC) via EA Play, Farming Simulator 22 (Cloud, Console and PC) and Persona 3 Reload (Cloud, Console and PC). The beleaguered Anthem is shutting down for good this January in any case, and as it's an online-only game, there won't be any way to play it after that time — unless fans find a way to get community servers up and running.

And Xbox Game Pass subscribers can get early access to that game's sequel, Grounded 2, now. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, a CNET Editors' Choice award pick, offers hundreds of games you can play on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One and PC or mobile device for $20 a month. A subscription gives you access to a large library of games, with new ones, including Doom: The Dark Ages, added monthly, plus other benefits such as online multiplayer and deals on non-Game Pass titles. You'll fight monstrous creatures in forgotten temples and overgrown ruins, unlock new weapons and master devastating techniques in order to bring peace to yourself and others. RoboCop: Rogue City Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Standard subscribers can play now. Serve the public, protect the innocent and uphold the law as the cyborg RoboCop. You'll investigate crimes in Old Detroit before using your cyborg strength, cybernetic implants and arsenal of weapons to eradicate gangs from the area. This game is a whole new RoboCop story based on the film series, and Peter Weller, the original RoboCop himself, returns to voice the titular character. My Friendly Neighborhood Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play now. Something's going on with everyone's favorite Saturday morning puppet show, and it's up to you to figure out what in this survival horror game. You'll solve puzzles and use tools and improvised weapons to fend off your multicolored foes. So if you have anything against Barney or Big Bird, you can take out your feelings on them with this game. Back to the Dawn Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play now. This game is like if the series Prison Break took place in the Zootopia universe. You'll play as either a fox named Thomas or a black panther named Bob as they try to navigate the prison system and escape with their lives. With multiple escape routes and over 100 quests you can complete, you can replay this game numerous times and have a different experience each time. Wheel World Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers can play now. If you want to take a nice, relaxing bike ride, this game is for you. Previously known as Ghost Bike, this game puts you behind the handlebars of one of the last ghost bikes around. These bikes can traverse between the lands of the living and the dead. You can explore these lands at your leisure while you race other riders and upgrade your ride with treasures you find along the way. Farming Simulator 25 Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass and Game Pass Standard subscribers can play on Aug. 1. Farming isn't always as simple as games like Stardew Valley might make it out to be, but it can still be very rewarding. If you want a taste of what goes into building and maintaining your own farm, give Farming Simulator 25 a try. You'll grow diverse crops, raise different animals and with the weather-changing, ground-deforming atmosphere, you'll face all kinds of challenges along the way. Games leaving Game Pass on July 31 While Microsoft is adding those games to Game Pass soon, it's also removing three other games on July 31. So you still have some time to finish your campaign or complete any side quests before you have to buy these games separately. Call of Duty: WWII pulled from PC Game Pass after hackers hijack players' PCs
Activision pulls Call of Duty: WWII from the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass after players got hacked while playing the title. A critical vulnerability in the game allowed hackers to take control of the users' computers. After a wave of such reports, Activision made the game offline on Friday. Call of Duty: WWII removed from PC Game Pass amid hacking concerns.(Activision) The issue surfaced a few days after the Call of Duty: WWII game was added to Microsoft's Game Pass subscription service in late June 2025. Within a week, players began reporting issues such as computers freezing mid-game, command prompts and Notepad opening, forced shutdowns and even desktop wallpapers being changed. Some users have received a direct message from the hackers that their systems have been compromised through a remote code execution (RCE) exploit. Remote Code Execution (RCE) is an exploit that allows a hacker to run malicious code on a victim's PC and take full control. This vulnerability was patched in the Steam version of the game. But the version Microsoft uploaded to the Store was older and still had this bug in it, which led to players getting hacked. The game uses P2P networking, which means one player's computer acts as the server for the match. This setup made it even easier for hackers to attack players during online games. A lot of gamers posted snaps and even videos showing their PC getting hacked during a match. After these posts went viral, popular streamers advised their followers to stay away from Call of Duty: WWII till this issue is fixed. Activision has taken the Microsoft Store version of the game offline to investigate, but there is no confirmation about why they pulled the game or when the game will be back on the store. The game is still available on Steam, and the reviews section is full of users discouraging others from downloading the game. Players want Activision to fix these security issues before bringing the older games to new platforms. Until then, it is suggested to avoid downloading Call of Duty: WWII on PC from the Microsoft Store or even from Steam for the time being.
