Barbara Walters Grills Taylor Swift On Love Life In Explosive Hulu Documentary
is once again making headlines, this time posthumously, as Hulu prepares to release a no-holds-barred documentary chronicling the legendary broadcaster's jaw-dropping career. The late trailblazer, who passed away in 2022 at age 93, was renowned for her fearless, often polarizing interview style. And in the new trailer for "The Barbara Walters Effect," viewers get a taste of just how bold and, at times, brutal, her questions could be. In one especially tense clip, obtained by PEOPLE, Walters grills a then-25-year-old on her love life. With photos of Swift and her famous exes, including , , and , flashing across the screen, Walters deadpans, 'As you've become more famous, so have the boyfriends.' She then goes for the jugular, asking how Swift ever expects 'to find anybody' to date with her track record of heartbreak ballads. The "Love Story" singer, known for weaving personal experience into her music, didn't take the jab lightly. 'That's an old joke,' she replied sharply, calling out the sexist undertone. 'It comes from a place of such sexism.' Earlier in the same interview, Swift acknowledged the frustrating double standard that plagues women in music. 'If a man writes about his feelings, he's brave. If a woman does it, she's oversharing or 'crazy,'' she said. The documentary doesn't stop at Swift. It also revisits the moment Walters left in tears during a painfully personal interview, as well as her infamous confrontation with Donald Trump, in which she accused him of lacking humility. In a 1990 interview on ABC's "20/20," Walters confronted the current President of the United States about his public persona, particularly his perceived lack of humility. She pointedly asked, "With all of the publicity, and with the way that you have answered, there are people who say, 'Why won't he show some humility?'" Another clip features Walters questioning Courtney Love about doing drugs in front of her child, a moment still debated to this day. During this conversation, Walters directly questioned Love about her past drug use, including whether she had ever used drugs in front of her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. This line of questioning was part of Walters' signature probing style, aiming to delve deep into her subjects' personal lives. Some viewers felt that Walters' questions were invasive, while others saw them as a bold attempt to hold public figures accountable for their actions, especially concerning sensitive topics like parenting and substance abuse. And one of Barbara Walters' most unforgettable interviews came in 1980, when she sat down with former President Richard Nixon and asked a question that stunned viewers: 'Do you ever deeply regret that you didn't just burn the tapes?' Walters was referring to the infamous Watergate tapes, the secret White House recordings that ultimately led to Nixon's resignation in 1974. The directness of her question caught Nixon off guard, prompting a rare moment of reflection. After a pause, he admitted, 'Yes, I think so. I think it was a mistake.' That clip, along with many more, will be revisited in the upcoming documentary. Barbara Walters died on December 30, 2022, at the age of 93. According to her longtime publicist, Cindi Berger, the legendary journalist passed away peacefully at her home in New York, surrounded by loved ones. Walters had largely stayed out of the spotlight in her later years as she reportedly faced ongoing health challenges. A true pioneer in broadcast journalism, Walters broke barriers as the first woman to co-anchor an evening news program and went on to co-create the long-running talk show "The View." Following news of her passing, tributes poured in across social media, with fans, colleagues, and celebrities remembering her trailblazing career, sharp interviewing style, and enduring impact on the industry. "Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything" premieres on Hulu on June 23.

Eric Dane Stars in 'Countdown' Trailer with Jensen Ackles, 6 Weeks After Revealing ALS Diagnosis
Jensen Ackles, Eric Dane and Jessica Camacho star in the action-packed official trailer for Countdown, which premieres June 25 on Prime Video The series features a secret task force trying to stop a "Chernobyl-level event" from happening in Los Angeles This marks the first released project from Dane since he announced his ALS diagnosis last monthThe action-packed trailer for Countdown, starring Jensen Ackles, Eric Dane and Jessica Camacho is here. In the official trailer for Prime Video's forthcoming series, Ackles' Mark Meachum joins an elite team led by Dane's Nathan Blythe in the hopes of stopping a "Chernobyl-level event" from happening in Los Angeles. While the stakes are high, there's still levity to the show, specifically between Ackles' character and Camacho's Amber Oliveras. "I was just checking to see how you were after that bomb went off in our face last night," Mark says to Amber. After we see the explosion being referenced, Amber replies without missing a beat, "Ready to rock." Dane's character, however, is all business. "You are the best, or I would not have selected you," he tells the team, which also includes Luke Finau (Uli Latukefu), Evan Shepherd (Violett Beane), Keyonte Bell (Elliot Knight) and Damon Drew (Jonathan Togo). "Our mission could prevent another 9/11." After a thrilling montage — including body slams into a glass table, shoot-outs and daring leaps from moving vehicles — Ackles' Mark closes the trailer with an action hero-worthy line, saying, "If I'm going out, I'm going out saving something." The show's logline reads: When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Ackles, is recruited to a secret task force, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate." It continues, "But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions." In a recent interview, Ackles teased that his Countdown character will feel "familiar" for fans of his Supernatural character, Dean Winchester. "There's probably going to be some familiarity from that fandom with this guy," he told Entertainment Weekly. "It's not like I'm going so opposite spectrum with this character. He's going to be a familiar taste, which is good. I like doing that." As for Dane, this marks his first released project since announcing he was diagnosed with ALS. 'I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we navigate this next chapter. I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week,' he told PEOPLE on April 10. Countdown, created by Derek Haas, premieres June 25 on Prime Video with the first three episodes. New episodes will then be released weekly on Wednesdays, culminating in the series finale on Sept. 3. The Chrisley Knows Best star, 56, was released from the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola in Florida on Wednesday, May 28, just one day after receiving a full pardon from President Donald Trump, PEOPLE can confirm. Having first been indicted in 2019, Todd and longtime wife Julie Chrisley reported to prison in January 2023 after being convicted of tax evasion and bank fraud in 2022. After initially being sentenced to a combined 19 years behind bars, the couple later saw their sentences reduced. President Trump announced on Tuesday, May 27, that he had granted the reality stars full pardons. In a phone call with Todd and Julie's children, Trump said he'd heard the Chrisleys were "terrific people" who were "given a pretty harsh treatment, based on what I'm hearing." "It's a terrible thing, but it's a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean," the president said in the call. "I hope we can do it by tomorrow." Trump added, "I don't know them, but give them my regards and wish them a good luck." In an Instagram Live on Tuesday, May 27, the couple's daughter Savannah Chrisley — who had been fighting for her parents' release — reacted to news of their presidential pardon by saying she was "speechless" and "freaking out." "I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration and everyone along the way — all of my lawyers, the people who put in countless hours and effort and love for my family to make sure my parents get home," Savannah continued. "I am eternally grateful." The 27-year-old also issued a statement, saying, in part: "For the past two and a half years, I've done everything in my power to fight for my parents' freedom and bring them home. This moment is the answer to countless prayers, and I am beyond grateful to President Trump for seeing the truth and restoring my family." "Today is a victory for our family, but the fight against wrongful convictions and injustice within our prison system is far from over. I will continue to use my voice and platform to advocate for those who do not have one," she added. "Family is everything to me, and I will never stop fighting for what is right." Josh Duggar Requests New Attorney to Help Overturn His Child Porn Conviction as He Claims He Can't 'Afford Counsel' Anymore
Josh Duggar filed a request for a court-appointed attorney on Tuesday, May 27, amid his fight to overturn his child pornography conviction Duggar claimed in documents obtained by PEOPLE that he cannot afford to hire his own legal counsel to potentially help him file a motion to vacate his conviction In 2022, Duggar was sentenced to more than 12 years in federal prison on charges of receipt and possession of child pornographyJosh Duggar is hoping to pursue another attempt at overturning his conviction. On Tuesday, May 27, the 37-year-old wrote a letter to the judge presiding over his case, requesting a court-appointed attorney. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Duggar claimed he does not have enough money to pay a lawyer as he continues to fight against his 2022 conviction on charges of receipt and possession of child pornography. 'I am unable to afford counsel due to my current financial circumstances,' he wrote. The filing went on to reveal that Duggar, who is currently serving over 12 years in federal prison, is seeking legal assistance 'to help evaluate' whether there were "constitutional violations' in his case, 'and, if appropriate, prepare a motion to vacate, set aside, or correct my conviction and sentence.' Duggar alleged that his trial 'involved complex constitutional and evidentiary issues, particularly relating to legal rulings and strategic decisions made during trial proceedings' and 'errors in the admission of forensic evidence.' He further stated that he believes the prosecution failed to disclose the entirety of its evidence, and cited the 'broad publicity of this case' and 'intense scrutiny' of the facts as reason for 'a full and fair post-conviction review.' 'As time has unfolded, new legal theories and strategies have emerged in public discourse that may be relevant to the Defendant's case,' the documents alleged. 'In light of these developments, the Defendant seeks to consult with counsel to fully evaluate the potential of these emerging strategies and how they may support a motion for relief.' The news comes after Duggar — a married father of seven who claimed he has 'worked diligently to focus on education, personal growth, my faith, and to maintain strong family ties' while incarcerated — filed for an appeal in October 2023. After it was rejected, he took it to the Supreme Court, where it was once again denied a year later. "A child predator has been brought to justice," said Homeland Security's resident agent-in-charge, Billy Riggins, at the time of Duggar's conviction. The 19 Kids and Counting alum has maintained his innocence ever since Homeland Security agents found child pornography downloaded onto a computer linked to Duggar at his business in 2019. The investigation found that he had developed a hidden system on his work computer to view explicit content of children — some under the age of 10 — in which they were being sexually abused. It was also revealed that he allegedly molested sisters Jill (Duggar) Dillard and Jessa (Duggar) Seewald when he was between the ages of 12 and 15. Despite his defense arguing that there was a probability the former reality star was hacked or exploited, and that the prosecution's case lacked evidence to prove otherwise, a jury ultimately found him guilty. 20-Foot Shark Spotted Lurking in Rhode Island Pond by Shocked Waterside Diners
A woman spotted a 20-foot shark swimming in Great Salt Pond off of Block Island in Rhode Island on Monday, May 26 The Atlantic Shark Institute executive director, Jon Dodd, said the shark was likely a basking shark, the second-largest fish species The expert noted that Rhode Island residents should expect more shark sightings near Block Island as the weather continues to warm upA lengthy shark was spotted enjoying Memorial Day around Rhode Island's Block Island. On Monday, May 26, a shark, estimated to be 20 feet long, was spotted swimming in Great Salt Pond off of Block Island, according to a video from Jen Seebeck who was enjoying dinner at Dead Eye Dick when she spotted the massive creature in the pond. In the video, two people are on a speedboat jetting through the pond as a shark slowly swims near them. "There's a shark in the pond!" a person says in the background of the video, which was later shared with the Atlantic Shark Institute. "Clearly a very large shark and reminiscent of a scene from Jaws on this 50th anniversary of the film," the Atlantic Shark Institute said about the clip in its social media post. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. "Sharks are arriving in Rhode Island daily as water temperatures continue to rise and more and more species of shark find them suitable to their liking," the post continued. "Hopefully, this shark will find its way out of Great Salt Pond soon and continue on its way!" Atlantic Shark Institute executive director Jon Dodd said the shark in the video is a basking shark, estimated to be approximately 20 feet long with a large dorsal fin. The basking shark is the second-largest fish species after the whale shark. The animals subsist on tiny plankton and are commonly spotted in southern New England waters in late spring, according to the New England Aquarium. Additionally, basking sharks are often mistaken for great white sharks, but the latter have pointed dorsal fins, while basking sharks have rounded fins. Dodd said the shark likely accidentally entered the pond and has since left the area. "They are harmless filter-feeders, but that wouldn't matter much if you were in the water when one came cruising by!" Dodd told CBS. "It is the first shark that has entered the pond this season, but likely not the last!" Read the original article on People
