Visakhapatnam: The NDA government is planning to bring a special policy to resolve land related issues, informed Revenue Minister Anagani Satya Prasad. On Monday, the Minister received grievances from the public at the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) by participating in the programme at the District Collector's office conference hall along with district collector MN Harendhira Prasad and joint collector K Mayur Ashok. Speaking to the media later, the Revenue Minister mentioned that the government will pay special attention to land grabbing in the state and ensure that justice is meted out to the victims. The minister said that the coalition government is moving forward with an aim at providing good governance. He observed that there are many land problems in Visakhapatnam and most of the complaints received in the PGRS are related to lands that were occupied or grabbed during the previous government. Further, the minister informed that the revenue department will ready a detailed report on the land grabbing that took place in Visakhapatnam. He said that a solution would also be worked out soon regarding the long-pending Simhachalam temple's pancha gramalu issue. Speaking about the development of the district, Anagani Satya Prasad emphasised that Visakhapatnam is going to be developed as an IT hub and gain a top place in the country in the coming days. The Revenue Minister reminded that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu already instructed that private lands should not be kept in 22A and the state government decided to lift the ban on 22A lands. The Revenue Minister, who personally received grievances from the public during the PGRS, opined that the redressal system is implemented effectively in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam districts. The minister stated that he participated in the programme to watch the mechanism adopted here. A similar system will be implemented in other places, he assured.

CPI(M) demands house pattas for people living near Krishna riverbank

People living near the Krishna river embankment at Ranadive Nagar, Bhupesh Gupta Nagar, Ramalingeswara Nagar, Taraka Ramanagar in Vijayawada should be issued 'pattas' immediately, said CPI (M) leaders. Staging a demonstration during the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) at the Collectorate in the city on Monday, CPI(M) State committee member Donepudi Kasinath thanked the local people for their decades-long fight due to which their dream of building a retaining wall was realised last year. When there is a retaining wall which will protect these areas from getting flooded in future, why should the government delay in issuing pattas, he questioned. CPI(M) State secretariat member Ch. Babu Rao said that while the government is quick to allot land for big companies to establish malls, it, however, drags its feet when it comes to issuing pattas to poor people.

GRS and Pakatan to contest Sabah election as electoral pact

KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) and Pakatan Harapan will contest the upcoming Sabah state election as an electoral pact, confirmed GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. 'We will continue the cooperation between GRS and Pakatan as it stands today,' he said after officiating the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) annual general assembly at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on Sunday (July 27). When asked if the GRS component parties had agreed to the arrangement, Hajiji replied 'Agreed.' Asked whether the seat allocation formula had been worked out, Hajiji said, 'Of course, but not finalised. Only a few things to sort out.' He nodded when asked if the electoral pact was confirmed. Earlier, in his speech to PGRS delegates, Hajiji said since "Langkah Kinabalu" in 2023, GRS and Pakatan have formed a strong collaboration, which continues today. "We will maintain this strong collaboration. This is the partnership that can now bring real benefits.' Earlier in his speech, Hajiji also remarked, 'Our master is here, our master is not there,' indicating that GRS, as a local Sabah-based coalition, intends to assert dominance in shaping Sabah's political course.
