PMJAY dues will be cleared soon: Min

Ranchi: Health minister Irfan Ansari on Tuesday assured private hospitals of the state that they would get their outstanding dues for treating patients under the Centre's under Ayushman yojana. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now He, however, warned that the govt will continue to crackdown against the establishments if they are found resorting to malpractices under this scheme. Speaking at a conclave organised by Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) at a city hotel to address issues related to pending payments of government dues under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), he said that govt will soon release legitimate pending payments. The state chapter of AHPI had recently threatened to stop treating the beneficiaries of the scheme citing scores of pending dues from the govt since February this year. Ansari said that the govt is sensitive towards every section of the society and their concerns, including the poor. "Approximately, Rs 192 crore in payments have been pending since February 11 this year, which will be resolved soon. Over the past seven years, a total of Rs 2,284 crore has been paid out. Payments of Rs 485 crore for 7.3 lakh govt hospital patients and over Rs 2,000 crore for 14 lakh private hospital patients have been made till date," the minister said. Ansari said the delays were due to ongoing probe against 212 hospitals identified by the National Anti-Fraud Unit. Technical glitches in the new portal system have also caused delays in payments to another 350 hospitals, Ansari said, adding that it is being resolved.

All big hospitals in city to come under Ayushman scheme, says Delhi Govt

All the 'big hospitals' of Delhi will now be brought under the Ayushman Bharat insurance umbrella in the next '20-25 days', Health Minister Pankaj Singh told The Indian Express as the Rekha Gupta-led BJP government in the Capital completed 100 days in power Friday. Singh's remarks are significant because major private hospital groups in Delhi, such as Max, Fortis and Apollo, have not yet come on board the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) — the scheme's dashboard currently includes 82 other private hospitals, apart from 11 government facilities. According to Singh, private hospitals in Delhi were hesitant to sign up because the previous AAP government did not clear pending payments under other schemes. 'They did not make the payment on time from Delhi Arogya Nidhi (the financial assistance scheme run by the Directorate General of Health Services). Now I ensure that in the next 20-25 days, all the big hospitals will be empanelled under Ayushman Bharat. I will talk to them soon,' the Health Minister said. Under Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, patients from poor households get health insurance of up to Rs 5 lakh, and Rs 5 lakh for patients above the age of 70. While Centre offers a cover of Rs 5 lakh, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had said after her Cabinet's first meeting that the Delhi government would provide an additional top-up of Rs 5 lakh to beneficiaries. Records show that more than 3.16 lakh beneficiaries have been registered so far from poor households, and 30,000 above the age of 70. Beneficiaries for the scheme are selected on the basis of National Food Security Act (NFSA) data, and Socio Economic and Caste Census 2011. So far, 601 beneficiaries have availed services under the scheme, Singh said. Healthcare representatives in Delhi, however, have called for a 'reality check' before the scheme is expanded. Currently, of 62 private hospitals under Ayushman Bharat for which details are publicly available, nine are eyecare facilities while others offer services related to general medicine, general surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, and cardiology. Representing the Association of Healthcare Providers India (APHI), Dr Vipender Sabherwal, convenor for Ayushman Bharat, said, 'We have been in touch with the Union Health Ministry and government officials on pricing and rates, which do not match the requirements of good hospitals with all facilities. The amount being offered is meagre and not practical. Even our payments were not made on time under Ayushman Bharat.' Sabherwal said doctors' associations would get in touch with the Delhi government for further discussions. AHPI represents about 15,000 private hospitals, including Fortis, Max Healthcare, Manipal, Medanta, Narayana and Apollo. Meanwhile, the Delhi government is expected to launch 33 Jan Arogya Mandirs in place of AAP's mohalla clinics and government dispensaries on Saturday under the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission scheme (PM-ABHIM). Health Minister Singh had earlier said the government would open 200 such centres. Each Arogya Mandir is expected to provide 12 service packages, including maternal and child healthcare, vaccinations, mental health services, elderly care, and treatment for communicable diseases. Each facility is mandated to maintain an essential drug list of 256 medicines, with in-house tests for blood sugar, haemoglobin, blood group, urine and pregnancy, among others — 90 other tests will be outsourced to Agilus Lab.

The Delhi government plans to build 1,139 such centres, with 15 centres in each of the capital's 70 assembly constituencies. So far, 968 sites have been identified and work is already underway at 70 locations. Delhi govt all set to open 33 Arogya Mandirs on May 31

The Delhi government is all set to inaugurate 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAM) across the city on May 31, marking the first phase of a major expansion in primary health care services. Each of the Capital's 11 districts will get at least one of the new centres, with officials racing to complete all preparations at these sites by May 27. According to a list accessed by HT, there will be three centres each in central Delhi and New Delhi, four in south-east Delhi, four in west Delhi, six in south-west Delhi, and two each in north Delhi, north-east Delhi, Shahdara, and south Delhi. East Delhi and north-west Delhi will have one AAM each. Each AAM will have a staff of around 10 members, which will include medical officers, a pharmacist, auxiliary nurse midwives, a lab technician, a DOTS lab technician (for management of tuberculosis patients), a data entry operator, and a cleaner, officials said. HT on April 25 reported that the Delhi government had selected 70 locations for the initial roll-out of AAMs and had directed the public works department (PWD) to complete construction by the end of May. The broader plan, according to government officials aware of the matter sources, is to establish 1,139 such centres across the national capital over the next 12 months. Each assembly constituency is expected to have at least one AAM in this first phase. Speaking to the media, Delhi health minister Pankaj Singh said AAMs will provide primary health care services. 'With the implementation of both AB-PMJAY and PM ABHIM, the state will soon start construction of 1,139 AAMs, 11 integrated public health labs in 11 districts, and nine critical care hospital blocks,' he said. On Thursday, chief minister Rekha Gupta held a high-level review meeting with senior officials of the health and family welfare department and the PWD to review the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), the Vaya Vandana Health Scheme, the Ayushman Arogya Mandir initiative, and various hospital infrastructure projects, said a government statement. Following the meeting, CM Gupta said under PMJAY, 295,237 beneficiaries have already registered, all of whom are entitled to receive free medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh. She added that 123,242 senior citizens have been enrolled under the PM Vaya Vandana Yojana, and that instructions have been issued to ensure swift registration of remaining eligible beneficiaries. Gupta also noted that around 100 hospitals in Delhi are currently empanelled under these schemes. If a beneficiary requires treatment outside the capital, they will be able to avail of free treatment at any empanelled hospital across the country. Speaking about AAMs, Gupta reiterated that the Delhi government is working towards establishing 1,139 centres citywide. She said approximately 15 AAMs will be set up in each assembly constituency, offering citizens access to free, basic health care services. An additional 968 sites have already been identified for upcoming phases. The CM directed all district magistrates and chief district medical officers (CDMOs) to monitor ongoing work closely and ensure that construction and operational deadlines for new hospitals and upgrade projects are met. On May 17, HT reported that the chief minister assured protesting Mohalla Clinic staff that they would be absorbed into AAMs. Gupta made the assurance after dozens of doctors, paramedics, and other clinic workers gathered outside her office, seeking clarity on their future roles and protesting delays in salary payments. The CM had said that as the government begins to phase out Mohalla Clinics in areas where AAMs are being set up, existing staff would be offered employment in the new centres.
