Mobile to host National Day of Prayer at Brookley by the Bay
MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The City of Mobile is hosting National Day of Prayer events Thursday, May 1 at sunrise and sunset at Brookley by the Bay, according to a news release.

The events are free and open to the public, has learned. Brookley by the Bay is located at 25 Old Bay Front Drive.
The sunrise event will begin at 6 a.m. with gates opening at 5 a.m. The evening event will begin at 6 p.m. with gates opening at 4:30 p.m., according to the release.

Faith groups, community leaders, and people of all faiths are invited to attend and participate. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs for seating, the release said.
The gatherings are hosted by the National Day of Prayer organization with support from Mayor Sandy Stimpson and the City of Mobile, the release said.
'Looking out over Mobile Bay, we remember its original name: 'Bay of the Holy Spirit.' It's a fitting reminder of the power of faith and unity,' said Mayor Sandy Stimpson. 'This year's National Day of Prayer events will be a unique opportunity to come together in prayer for the future of our city.'
According to the release, both events will feature Pam Hanes of Pam Hanes Ministries and Pastors Joe and Linda Johnson from Mount Hebron Church Ministries.
There will also be live musical performances from Youth With A Vision, Bishop State Community Choir, Apostolic-Bethlehem Ministries, Katie Braswell, Janiah Todd, and Kenneth Brandon, the release said.
National Day of Prayer happens annually on the first Thursday in May and is recognized across the country. It is organized by the National Day of Prayer Task Force, and is celebrated by believers across many faiths each year, according to the release.
