Jaguars' QB Trevor Lawrence on what he must accomplish this 2025 season

Jaguars' QB Trevor Lawrence recently highlighted what he must accomplish this 2025 season. Entering his fifth NFL season with up-and-down results up to this point, it's an important year for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence--and he knows it. "I feel like this is like getting into my prime," Lawrence told the "Pardon My Take" podcast, via "I got a lot of good years left ahead of me, and I need to really turn it on. And I think what we've built around me and what they've done this offseason has been a great start." When things are going well, quarterbacks will often get the bulk of the credit. And when things are going poorly, they will often get a lot of the blame. It's just the nature of playing the game's most important position. But in what is the ultimate team game, the Jaguars prioritized building around Lawrence this offseason to provide more balance to the offense and to more consistently put him in positions to be successful. Between free agency and the NFL draft, GM James Gladstone made six additions to the offensive line, where improved play is needed. Consistency for any offense begins up front with a steady run game and time in the pocket for the quarterback. Gladstone also bolstered the skill positions and added a lot more speed by acquiring Dyami Brown, Travis Hunter, and Bhayshul Tuten this offseason as well. Also a part of the equation was the hiring of Liam Coen, who brings an offensive scheme built on multiplicity and throwing a variety of different looks at opponents to keep them off balance and guessing, helping to create opportunities for Lawrence to exploit. Around the NFL in recent years, this Sean McVay-like system has produced a number of successful offenses and quarterbacks. "I really feel good about the situation we're in," Lawrence said, via Pro Football Network. "I love coach Coen and the whole staff and everyone, all the guys that were brought in free agency. Just good dudes, good players, too. But I really feel like we've done some great things this offseason." Injuries limited Lawrence to 10 games last season. In his appearances, he completed 61% of his throws--his lowest mark since his rookie year and threw 11 touchdowns to seven interceptions. Lawrence has made one Pro Bowl in his career and has one playoff appearance with a record of 1-1.

'Need to really turn it on': Trevor Lawrence eyes breakout year under Jaguars' new coach Liam Coen

With former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Liam Coen now at the helm, the team is signaling a full-scale shift in offensive identity. After an underwhelming 2024 campaign, Jacksonville's front office is banking on Coen's quarterback-friendly system to elevate Lawrence into the elite tier. The stakes are sky-high in Duval as Lawrence enters what could be a make-or-break fourth season. New coach, new system for Jaguars Liam Coen was hired as the Jaguars' head coach in January after orchestrating a resurgence for Baker Mayfield in Tampa Bay. Coen's offensive scheme helped Mayfield post a career-high 28 touchdowns in 2024, and Jacksonville hopes for a similar turnaround with their franchise quarterback. Lawrence, who has shown flashes of brilliance but struggled with consistency, acknowledged the urgency heading into 2025. 'I feel like this is like getting into my prime,' he said. 'I got a lot of good years left ahead of me, and I need to really turn it on.' The Jaguars have also brought in several offensive reinforcements in free agency, including veteran wideout Tyler Boyd and left guard Dalton Risner, to protect and support their star QB. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Trevor Lawrence ready to elevate game Since being drafted No. 1 overall in 2021, Lawrence has carried high expectations — but his development has been uneven. He threw for 21 touchdowns and 14 interceptions last season, with Jacksonville missing the playoffs after a late-season collapse. Now, with a revamped coaching staff and a cleaner offensive blueprint, the 25-year-old knows he must deliver. 'I really feel good about the situation we're in,' he shared on the Pardon My Take podcast. The pressure to win has intensified, especially with rival AFC South teams like the Texans and Colts surging behind young quarterbacks. 'I love Coach Coen and the whole staff,' Lawrence added. 'Just good dudes, good players, too.' Jacksonville resets offense for playoff push The Jaguars are clearly all-in on offensive change, hoping Coen's structure can replicate the chemistry he had with Mayfield. Coen, who previously worked with Sean McVay and helped Kentucky's Will Levis develop into a top NFL prospect, is known for his timing-based passing game and quarterback development. Jacksonville also made notable upgrades in the backfield and offensive line, signaling a commitment to protecting Lawrence and giving him play-action flexibility. If it all clicks, the Jaguars could re-emerge as a playoff contender in a tightly packed AFC. If it doesn't, the team faces hard questions about its future under center. Trevor Lawrence: It's time to win, not be the team no one really takes seriously

Entering his fifth year in the league, Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence has experienced a taste of the postseason. But now, as the club goes into a new era with James Gladstone as General Manager and Liam Coen as head coach, Lawrence wants the franchise to be more consistently competitive. In an interview with Pardon My Take released this week, Lawrence noted that even as he tries to treat all seasons the same, he knows realistically this one is not. '[W]here I'm at in my career, I'm going into Year 5. Been an up-and-down, so far, four years for me,' Lawrence said. 'And just our team and our situation, this is the third head coach I've had. A lot of turnover, a lot of change. But I really feel good about the situation we're in. I love coach Coen, and the whole staff, and everyone that's in — all the guys that were brought in in free agency. Just good dudes, good players, too.' Lawrence added that the system Coen's implementing is 'tried and true,' and has proven to be good for quarterbacks. That's ideal for what Lawrence would like to help his team do next. 'Where I'm at in my career, Year 5, it's time to go and start winning consistently and be not just that team where it's like, you know — you're always like, no one really takes you seriously,' Lawrence said. 'You want to be that team that's always competing for the playoffs, Super Bowls, and you're in the hunt. 'So, of course, I see it through that lens — it's Year 5 and I feel like this is getting into my prime. I've got a lot of good years ahead of me, and I need to turn it on. And I think what we've built around me, what they've done this offseason has been a great start.' Lawrence, who played only 10 games last season, noted that he's fully healthy and ready to go for training camp. He completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 2,045 yards with 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 2024.

Trevor Lawrence opens up on dad's viral NFL draft moment: ‘That picture is crazy'

Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence may want to forget about his dad's viral moment at the 2021 NFL Draft. During an appearance Monday on Barstool Sports' 'Pardon My Take' podcast, co-host Dan 'Big Cat' Katz brought up that Jeremy Lawrence looked visibly uncomfortable and crammed on a couch with his family while Jacksonville was on the clock with the first overall pick. 'Why didn't you guys give any space to your dad on draft night?' Katz asked Lawrence, referring to a viral photo of the Pro Bowl quarterback sitting next to his wife, Marissa, mom Amanda and dad Jeremy. Advertisement Katz brought up his old tweet that showed him asking the same question during the 2021 NFL draft. 'I remember this, and I was dying.' Lawrence, selected first overall by the Jaguars in 2021, said of Katz's tweet. Did you apologize after?' Katz asked. Advertisement 'No, I think I showed him [your tweet] after and he was just like shaking his head — didn't even say anything,' Lawrence said. 'That's hilarious. Sacrificing nuts for the draft … Love you, dad.' Maybe some moments are better left in the past.
