Traffic will resume on old Pandameru bridge today
Anantapur: Vehicular movement on the old Pandameru bridge near RDT cricket stadium and TV tower in Anantapur city will resume from Thursday, following the completion of major repairs. The bridge was closed for the past eight months after heavy rains in October last year caused severe flooding in the stream below and damaged bridge bearings, making travel unsafe. MLA Paritala Sunitha inspected the site with engineering officials at that time and instructed that traffic be diverted to the adjacent new bridge in one-way mode to avoid disruption. A repair proposal costing Rs 1 crore was sent to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and the project was sanctioned on March 27 this year. The contract was awarded on April 29 to Mumbai-based Tech Fast Rebuild Pvt. Ltd, which was expected to be completed in six months at an estimated cost of Rs 85 lakh. But, under the supervision of MLA Sunitha and NH engineers, the project was finished within three months. MLA Sunitha stated that though the closure caused inconvenience to commuters, it was necessary for safety.

Naidu committed to uplift farming: Paritala Sunitha
Kanaganapalli: Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha reaffirmed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, being a farmer's son, is deeply committed to agricultural welfare. Speaking at the Annadata Sukhibhava PM-KISAN 2025-26 event in Kanaganapalli mandal, she highlighted the government's unwavering efforts despite financial constraints. A mega cheque of Rs37 crore was symbolically distributed to 52,000 farmer families across six mandals in the Raptadu constituency. District Collector TN Chetan, Dharmavaram RDO Mahesh, and several public representatives were present. MLA Sunitha noted that under the scheme, farmers received Rs7,000 in the first phase, and will receive Rs7,000 and Rs6,000 in the subsequent phases. She assured that delays in payment due to technical issues will soon be addressed. Reflecting on past struggles, she praised the Handri-Neeva project for transforming Raptadu from barren to fertile lands. She also urged the District Collector to fast-track compensation for farmers who gave land for the Peruru Reservoir Project, initiated at Rs803 crore under the previous TDP government. Further, she requested revision of the 7-year restriction on drip irrigation subsidies, sanction of 2,000 acres under NREGS plantations, and 200 Gokulam sheds. In a symbolic tribute, a local farmer performed navadhanya abhishekam to Naidu's portrait. Later, MLA Sunitha and officials inspected the unfinished Goru Chikkudu processing unit near Daduluru. She urged its repurposing for agricultural use, to which the Collector responded positively.

Install solar rooftop systems, people urged
Raptadu: MLA Paritala Sunitha and TDP leader Paritala Sriram have urged the people of Chennekothapalli, Ramagiri and Kanaganapalli mandals to take the lead in installing solar rooftop systems on their homes, setting an example for the rest of the state. The awareness event on the 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana' and solar rooftop construction was held at Nagasamudram Gate in Chennekothapalli mandal. The event was organised by the Electricity Department at the ADE office, with participation from Sriram, SE Sampath Kumar, solar company representatives, bank officials, TDP leaders and the public. A demonstration was set up to showcase how solar rooftops work, their costs, government subsidies, bank loans and the resulting benefits. Speaking on the occasion, Paritala Sriram said he was proud that the initiative was starting from the Raptadu constituency in Sri Sathya Sai district. He explained that while solar panels were once limited to agricultural projects, now every household can generate its own electricity and even sell surplus power to the government, significantly reducing electricity bills. He praised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for encouraging such advanced technology, saying the CM not only delivers political speeches but also acts like a responsible head of the family, guiding people toward practical, beneficial solutions. MLA Paritala Sunitha emphasised that the initiative would begin in their constituency, and they were committed to leading any programme that benefits the public. She recalled how rising electricity bills once made even small lighting a concern for the poor. The PM Surya Ghar scheme addresses this by allowing rooftop solar installations, offering up to Rs 60,000 in subsidies, with full coverage for SC/ST households and an additional Rs 20,000 subsidy for BCs from the State government.

Derive full benefit from MGNREGS, farmers urged
Cherlopalli: Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGS) scheme is not limited to just wage-based labour, but includes a variety of programmes that farmers must utilise effectively, said Raptadu MLA Paritala Sunitha. The MLA inaugurated a fruit plantation programme under MGNREGS at Cherlopalli village of Ramagiri mandal. As part of the initiative, 280 fruit saplings were planted on a 4-acre farm belonging to a farmer named Koduru Rakesh. The event witnessed active participation from officials and local TDP leaders. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Sunitha stated that the MGNREGS is a boon for farmers. She criticised the previous government for allegedly discriminating in the allocation of scheme benefits based on political affiliations, questioning whether beneficiaries belonged to TDP or YSRCP. In contrast, she asserted that the current government was delivering schemes to farmers without any political bias. She informed that fruit plantation activities have been approved across 900 acres in Ramagiri, Chennekothapalli and Kanaganapalli mandals, and over 850 acres in Anantapur Rural, Atmakur, and Raptadu mandals. The government is covering the full cost, including transportation, at Rs64 per sapling. Currently, the government is supplying mango and guava saplings. However, Sunitha encouraged farmers to invest in and plant other valuable fruit-bearing trees if they prefer. She advised them to care for the plants as if they were their own children, emphasising that these trees would support them in the future. She urged all farmers to take full advantage of every component under the MGNREGS and use it for long-term agricultural benefit.
