Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik on Friday greeted the people of the state, especially to the members of the Muslim community, on the sacred occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha. He expressed hope that the festival will continue to strengthen our composite society. In his message, Parnaik said that Eid-ul-Zuha, also known as Bakrid , is a festival that symbolises sacrifice, faith and compassion. "It reminds us of prophet Ibrahim's unwavering trust in the Almighty and inspires us to uphold the values of selflessness and devotion. I am sanguine that this significant celebration will continue to strengthen the bonds of our shared humanity, foster mutual respect among all communities, and enrich the spirit of our diverse and inclusive society," he said. Itanagar, May 16 (UNI) The Golden Jubilee of Sikkim's Statehood was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Arunachal Pradesh Raj Bhavan in Itanagar on Friday, in line with the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. Gracing the occasion, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik extended his greetings to the people of Sikkim and praised the state for its exemplary achievements over the past 50 years. He lauded Sikkim as one of the most peaceful, disciplined, and cleanest states in the country, setting a benchmark in sustainable development. Governor Parnaik also highlighted Sikkim's leadership in education, healthcare, organic farming, and tourism, calling it a true success story. 'Sikkim is not just an organic state—it is a land of ecological harmony, blooming orchids, and rich cultural heritage,' he remarked. Interacting with members of the Sikkimese community residing in the state, the Governor acknowledged the contributions of the Sikkimese in Arunachal Pradesh and urged the state to draw inspiration from Sikkim and Bhutan's models of sustainable tourism. Recalling his close association with Sikkim during his military tenure as General Officer Commanding (2005-06), the Governor spoke of the reopening of the Nathula Pass trade route and the establishment of one of the world's highest golf courses. Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh governor KT Parnaik on Friday underscored the strategic, security and socio-economic significance of border fencing in the state, considering its sensitive geopolitical location. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Reviewing the security scenario at the Raj Bhavan, the governor highlighted that a robust fencing infrastructure, along with designated crossing points, would be crucial in preventing illegal infiltration, arms smuggling, drug trafficking, and insurgent movement. Parnaik said effective border fencing would serve not only as a clear demarcation of Indian territory but also help create a safer and more stable environment, thereby fostering socio-economic development in border regions, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan said. He also called for strengthening the Inner Line Permit (ILP) system, describing it as a vital legal and administrative safeguard. The ILP is essential, he said, for regulating the entry of non-residents, preserving the demographic balance, and protecting the rights and cultural identity of the state's indigenous communities. Emphasising its role in internal security, the governor added that the ILP mechanism enables better tracking and monitoring of visitors, thereby enhancing law and order. During the meeting, the governor also reviewed the state's surrender policy and overall internal security status in consultation with home minister and senior police officials.

Addressing an event at the Raj Bhavan on application of AI tools, Parnaik said adopting AI tools could enhance efficiency in record-keeping, data analysis and real-time planning. Reiterating PM Modi's vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' , Parnaik said the state could also move towards becoming 'Viksit Arunachal' by building a strong foundation, based on AI integration .
