'Mahila Samriddhi Yojana' will be launched in Delhi, 3-member ministerial committee formed for the scheme

New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): The Delhi government is set to launch the 'Mahila Samriddhi Yojana' to empower women. A three-member ministerial committee has been formed for this scheme, comprising Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, and Kapil Mishra. Two meetings have already taken place. Discussions have been held regarding the scheme's framework, eligibility criteria, and implementation process. A dedicated website is being developed to simplify the application process for women. The government has emphasised that the scheme will not be rushed but will be implemented with a comprehensive and long-term vision. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mohan Singh Bisht praised the BJP-led Delhi government for their transformative first hundred days and highlighted the significant achievements and a proactive approach that restored the public trust after 27 years. 'The first hundred days of our government have been transformative. Significant work has been accomplished, reflecting a clear shift since the BJP assumed power in Delhi after twenty-seven years. This change has led to a proactive, working government that inspires hope and confidence among the people. We hold the key to Delhi's development, and I am confident that the city will progress under our leadership,' he said. He credited Chief Minister Rekha Gupta for demonstrating strong willpower in driving Delhi's development while criticising the AAP for continuing to suppress public voices in the Assembly. 'The achievements in these hundred days demonstrate how effectively the system has functioned and how it has won the trust of the people. Restoring faith in governance for the development of Delhi's citizens was a critical task. Our Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, has proven that with strong willpower, the path to progress becomes clear and achievable,' he said. Following the completion of 100 days in office as the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta said that it was not just a responsibility but a 'politics centred on public service, and policies that are for public welfare.' In her 'X' post, Rekha Gupta mentioned that in 100 days, her government has worked towards fulfilling every promise, and her priority was also clear: 'development that can be seen as well as felt.' CM Gupta highlighted that her government endeavours to make Delhi a 'strong, safe, and inclusive capital ' through cleanliness, security, women's empowerment, and e-governance. She further thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his vision of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas'. (ANI)

100 Days Of Govt: BJP To Highlight Welfare Plans

New Delhi: The current BJP dispensation has listed a number of welfare schemes as its achievements in a document, which is likely to be launched on Saturday as the govt's achievements in 100 days in office. Among the highlights are its presentation of a Rs 1 lakh crore budget for 2025-26, which is the highest ever. It will also list as achievements the regular holding of jan sunwai programmes at the chief minister's camp office and in the districts, the steps taken to clean the Yamuna, health schemes for the poor and elderly, a law to curb arbitrary school fee hikes, and the launch of buses for last-mile connectivity Back in the saddle in Delhi after 27 years, BJP wants to celebrate its first 100 days in office in a big way. An event to commemorate it will be held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Saturday. According to officials, chief minister Rekha Gupta has asked her council of ministers — Parvesh Verma, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Kapil Mishra and Ravindra Indraj Singh — to compile the list of work done in the last three months in their respective departments and share it with her to turn it into a report card. "All ministers have submitted the list of substantial work done in the departments they are in charge of. The CM too has compiled a similar list," an official said. The officials added that most of the work started in the last three months were promised in BJP's Sankalp Patra or election manifesto. The rolling out of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, a monthly honorarium of Rs 2,500 for poor women, cleaning the Yamuna, and tabling the CAG reports pending for the last few years, were among the several promises BJP had made. "We are also trying to make this govt connect with the people of Delhi. The chief minister has the jan sunwai programme at her camp office every morning to listen to people's grievances. Similarly, every district will now have a jan sunwai programme every Saturday," a close aide of the chief minister said. "The CM has also held seven cabinet meetings so far to approve the initiative for the development of the city and frequently visited schools and hospitals apart from roads and drains for inspection," he added.

Delhi FOB: PWD calls meeting to discuss pedestrian bridge plans for regiment

New Delhi The Public Works Department (PWD), in an order late Monday night, called for an urgent meeting of stakeholders to discuss the construction of a foot overbridge (FOB) between the Rajputana Rifles headquarters and their training ground located on the opposite side of the Ring Road near Dhaula Kuan. The move comes on the heels of an HT report, titled 'A smelly trail from barracks to grounds: Regiment's daily battle' published in these columns on Monday. The report highlighted how, in the absence of a FOB, thousands of soldiers have to cross a filthy drain culvert four to six times a day. The report also highlighted that the situation worsens after rainfall, forcing the regiment to wade through waist-deep rainwater or walk along the road for 2.5 kilometres to cross the road through the main carriageway. 'Coordination in planning and design of the FOB, consider and recommend the location of the FOB to UTTIPEC for deliberation and approval, promotion of utilization and any other matter relating to construction and use of the FOB,' the PWD said in the order. A PWD official said that the FOB has been under consideration and financial feasibility was being checked, but final approval was not yet granted. The subway committee includes officials from PWD, MCD, DDA, CRRI, traffic police, and the transport department. PWD minister Parvesh Verma also instructed officials to expedite the construction. 'I have asked officials to ensure that work on this FOB should be started at the earliest and tendering should be done so that it is completed at the earliest, and the soldiers do not have to cross a drain. It is shameful that none of the previous governments ever took this seriously,' Verma said. According to locals and officials, soldiers have been using the culvert for at least 35 years. A proposal for a FOB was approved in 2010, but the project remained on paper, as ascertained by HT from a written response in the Delhi assembly to a question raised by the Delhi Cantt MLA Karan Singh Tanwar on March 31, 2010. 'Yes, the location of the FOB has been approved by the subway committee... The designs are being prepared. Its cost is approximately ₹2.75 crore. The work will be done after getting financial approval,' the MLA had said. Over 15 years and four governments later, soldiers are still waiting for the bridge.

‘Just a little rain & Delhi under water': AAP targets BJP's ‘triple-engine' government

NEW DELHI: Making a scathing attack on the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government, the AAP on Sunday said that even a spell of light rain on Saturday night was enough to expose the complete collapse of the city's infrastructure under the BJP's so-called 'triple-engine' government. Party leaders alleged that while roads across the city were submerged in water, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma has not been seen for the last few days. The BJP responded, stating that after every rainy season, the people of Delhi can clearly see the difference between the previous administration and the current one. AAP leaders posted a video from ITO, commenting, 'When Delhiites woke up this morning, they found the city submerged. This is the result of the so-called four-engine government. A little rain and the roads are flooded. These waterlogged streets tell the true story of BJP's broken-down four-engine government.'

AAP slams Delhi govt over waterlogging; BJP says MLAs were on the ground

The Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday lambasted the BJP-led dispensation over waterlogging in Delhi, calling it a failure of the "four-engine" government. In response, the BJP said the government took responsibility and worked to restore normalcy, rather than indulging in blame game. Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena as well shared videos of key drains in the city with a free flow. An overnight thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain had disrupted flight operations, uprooted trees and electricity poles, and caused waterlogging in several areas of the city. According to India Meteorological Department, the city's primary weather station recorded winds gusting up to 82 kilometres per hour and 81.2 mm of rain in six hours between 11.30 pm on Saturday and 5.30 am on Sunday. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) released multiple videos on X showing the extent of the flooding and claimed that Public Works Department (PWD) minister Parvesh Verma was abroad at a critical time. There was no immediate reaction from Verma. AAP Delhi unit chief Saurabh Bharadwaj and Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Atishi squarely blamed the BJP for the inundation. After posting a video of waterlogging at ITO, the AAP said, "When Delhiites woke up this morning, they found the city submerged. This is the result of the so-called four-engine government. A little rain and the roads are flooded. These waterlogged streets tell the true story of BJP's broken down four-engine government." The party also highlighted the situation at Minto Road, which is a chronic waterlogging hotspot. "Even a little rain caused waterlogging beneath Minto Bridge, where a car got submerged. Just a few days ago, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Minister Parvesh Verma came here for a photoshoot. They did nothing beyond clicking pictures. This is the result," the party said in another post. Videos from Dhaula Kuan and Chanakyapuri were also shared. "There's not a single part of Delhi where BJP's failed four-engine government has not caused waterlogging. Even Chanakyapuri, one of the VIP areas of Delhi and home to numerous embassies, was submerged after a light shower," the party said. AAP Delhi chief Saurabh Bharadwaj posted a series of videos on X, highlighting the city's plight. "If a minister has to travel abroad, he needs to take permission from Ministry of Home Affairs. The file goes via Chief Minister and Lieutenant Governor. So everyone knows that Sahib Singh (Parvesh Verma) is not in India. Why is BJP and its leadership hiding the fact that in these times of crisis, their PWD minister is in the USA ?" he questioned. Sharing photos of an inundated Timarpur Road, Bharadwaj noted, "Here's the condition of Timarpur under the four-engine government: Prime Minister? BJP. LG? BJP. Chief Minister? BJP. MCD Mayor? BJP. NDMC? BJP. And most importantly, all officials under BJP control. Yet this is the state of Delhi." Sharing a video posted by Delhi Traffic Police on X, he wrote, "Mundka is the parental village of PWD Minister Parvesh Verma. Can BJP tell us where he is?" Former Delhi chief minister Atishi also posted series of videos after the overnight rain. "This is what happens to Delhi after just one spell of rain under the BJP's four-engine government," she said. Atishi also shared a video from ITO, noting that the waterlogging happened right outside the PWD headquarters. "Where is PWD Minister Parvesh Verma hiding?" she asked. Responding to AAP allegations, Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva claimed that the situation was worse until last year due to negligence of the then-government and it has significantly improved now. Sachdeva said when Delhiites woke up on Sunday morning, they were faced with multiple complaints of fallen trees and waterlogging due to a storm that hit late last night. "Following the instructions of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, all BJP MLAs and councillors, along with officials from the Delhi Jal Board and Public Works Department, took to the streets ?despite it being a Sunday. By 9 am, most trees were cleared and much of the waterlogging removed, easing traffic across the city. By noon, the situation was brought under control," he said in a statement. Sachdeva emphasised that while the Kejriwal government would blame the L-G and officials for waterlogging and leave citizens at the mercy of fate, the BJP government takes responsibility and after sudden storms or rains, works actively with officials to normalise the situation. He said after every rainy season, the people of Delhi can clearly see the difference between the former Arvind Kejriwal government and the current BJP-led administration. Meanwhile, L-G Saxena praised the Delhi government for making efforts to mitigate waterlogging and said the "morass" had set in due to more than a decade of neglect. "It is encouraging to see the Irrigation & Flood Control Department striving to make our drains flow and mitigate waterlogging amidst heavy unexpected rains. The consistent efforts of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta vide field visits and monitoring have started showing results. The morass set in due to the neglect of more than a decade will take considerable time getting fully sorted, but the new government's efforts at governance are indeed gratifying," he said on X, along with videos of key drains.
