Man running three-number online lottery business held in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: The Vadavalli police on Friday arrested a 27-year-old man for running an illegal three-number online lottery and seized Rs11.64 lakh, an iPhone and a car from him. A police officer identified the arrested person as G Pasupathi, a native of Sengottaiyampalayam in Erode district. A clinical pharmacist with a private hospital at Neelambur, he was staying in a rental room at Teachers Colony, Chinniyampalayam. The officer said Pasupathi had advertised on social media about the three-digit lottery business. "Many people joined and started sending money to him. He was nabbed by a team led by sub-inspector Dhanabal and handed over to us. We produced him before a judicial magistrate, who remanded him in judicial custody. He was subsequently lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison. We have formed two special teams to nab two close aides of Pasupathi." According to the officer, the three-number online lottery gang selects the last three digits of Kerala lottery tickets and asks people to choose any three digits between 000 and 999 every day. "Each ticket is priced at Rs60. The one who selected the last three digits of the Kerala lottery that won the first prize will win Rs25,000. This is how the three-number online lottery system works."
