Sisi, Macron Discuss Strategic Partnership, Regional Stability
Nada Mustafa President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call, on Monday, from French President Emmanuel Macron. The call addressed the overall state of bilateral relations between Egypt and France. Both presidents expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation, especially following President Macron's historic visit to Egypt in April 2025, during which bilateral relations were elevated to the level of a strategic partnership. Moreover, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to implementing all pillars of this partnership and further strengthening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on expanding French investments in Egypt and increasing the involvement of French companies in major Egyptian economic projects. The call also discussed recent regional developments, most notably the Palestinian issue. President Sisi praised France's supportive stance toward the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, reviewing Egypt's ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza, facilitate the exchange of hostages and detainees, and ensure the entry of humanitarian aid. He also confirmed Egypt's support for the upcoming Peace Settlement Conference scheduled to be held in New York in June 2025, stressing that the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is the only path to achieving lasting peace in the Middle East. Macron, for his part, expressed his appreciation for Egypt's role in enhancing regional security and working to restore stability in the region. He reiterated France's support for Egypt's efforts to stop the war in Gaza and end the humanitarian crisis.
