Abbie Chatfield defends being an 'influencer' and gushes about her romance with Adam Hyde: 'I either need to be alone or be with him'
Abbie Chatfield has hit back at critics who dismiss her success as an 'influencer', insisting it takes more than a pretty face and a few selfies to build a loyal following. The former Bachelor star, 29, opened up in a candid new interview with Stellar magazine about the work that goes into her career and her blossoming romance with DJ boyfriend Adam Hyde. Abbie, who hosts the popular podcast It's A Lot, said she's tired of the term 'influencer' being used to discredit powerful women online. 'Why do we have to work ourselves to the bone to prove that we're worthy of having a platform or having a voice?' she said, adding that the content creation industry is far more demanding than it appears. She also slammed the suggestion that influencing isn't a real job, revealing that the Australian Tax Office would beg to differ. She cited high-profile business figures are never labelled influencers despite having similar public platforms. The TV personality also opened up about her relationship with Peking Duk star Adam Hyde, revealing the couple recently moved in together after dating for over a year. Calling the romance 'healthy' and 'genuinely beneficial,' she said it's changed her entire outlook on love and what she wants in a partner. 'If I was going to get married and have kids with anyone, it would be Adam,' she shared. Reflecting on her past, Abbie admitted she now recognises how unhealthy some of her previous relationships were – and that being with Adam has set a new standard. 'I either need to be alone or be with Adam,' she declared. 'Those are kind of my two options at this point.' Abbie Chatfield 's boyfriend made his political views well known at a gig in Margaret River over the weekend. Adam Hyde, who fronts the DJ duo Peking Duk alongside Reuben Styles, played a show at the Settlers Tavern on Saturday night as it was revealed the Labour party led by Anthony Albanese had won the Australian 2025 election. At the raging gig, Adam played The Angels' 1977 hit Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again and could be heard leading a chant, yelling into the microphone: 'No way get f***ed Dutton,' which the crowd joined in on. It is assumed that the DJ was referring to Peter Dutton, the leader of the Liberal party who fell behind in the polls and lost his parliamentary seat on Saturday night. In the clip, Adam wore a white singlet that showed off his toned, tattooed arms along with a pair of black pants fitted with a belt. The frontman, who began dating media personality Abbie last June, wore his messy locks in curls which fell over his shoulders as he riled up the crowd. The It's A Lot podcast host, 29, could be seen crying as she celebrated Peter Dutton falling behind in the polls, telling her followers she was 'so proud of Australians' who gave their support to Anthony Albanese and the Greens. 'This is the most important election of our lives. There are so many things at stake here... This is just so relieving. This is so important for our mental health not living in a country where the majority of people are hateful,' she said. 'I really do believe Australians are intelligent, empathetic people as a whole... It felt like we were American levels of divided, this result has shown we aren't divided. 'We are so lucky to live in the best election system in the whole world.' As for Greens leader Adam Bandt, who Abbie has been a staunch supporter of, the former reality TV star said she was disappointed the party wasn't in the lead, but was happy to see Opposition Leader Peter Dutton falling behind. 'I'm very upset about the Greens situation obviously, but... I'm just so proud of Australians for not doing what Americans did,' she said, referencing Donald Trump winning the last US election for presidency. She went on to say she has been mercilessly 'trolled' by her critics and Liberal supporters in the lead up to the election. She donned bright green slacks and a white T-shirt to show her support for the party as she took pictures with the Greens leader/ One photo saw Chatfield sitting on a desk with her arms cross as Bandt slipped on a pair of dark sunglasses and took a seat behind the desk. The last image in the gallery saw Abbie throwing her hands up and jumping with joy in front of a Greens billboard. 'AUSTRALIA YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!' she captioned the reel.
