Explore Singapore's best bars with this unique hydrating bar hop experience

Tell me more about the bars we're hitting up On the second hop, we're taking you to NOST, a cosy, low-lit cocktail cocoon lodged in one of the shophouses in Club Street. On the flipside, you'll also get to soak up the grandeur of ATLAS, Singapore's Art Deco gin temple, where the cocktails are as extravagant as the interiors. Then elevate your night at HighHouse – quite literally on levels 61 and 62 at One Raffles Place. This sky-high spot impresses with stunning city views, slick interiors, and bar bites worth the lift ride alone. And because we can't get enough of Stay Gold Flamingo, we're heading back there for the second time – but with a different treat, of course. Free transport will be provided to shuttle you from one bar to the next. What's on the cocktail menu? NOST's Zappel is a crisp mix of Glenlivet apple cider, fino sherry, and celery tonic water. At ATLAS, the S.W. Tönikum tickles the tastebuds with a layered blend of Monkey 47 Gin, cherry, chocolate, vanilla, and Perrier that's fruity, creamy, and beautifully complex. HighHouse's Monk in the Jungle shakes things up with Havana 7 and monk fruit tea. Back at Stay Gold Flamingo, the Bloody Maria packs a punch with Codigo 1530 mezcal, kagome tomato, lemon, firewater, and saline for a spicy, smoky finish. Will there be snacks with my sips? You bet there are. NOST serves up the cheekily named Wagwan Bakwan – corn fritters jazzed up with scallions and carrot – and a deeply fudgy Nost Brownie topped with sea salt espuma. Over at ATLAS, you'll get truffled polenta croquettes with porcini salt and parmigiano reggiano, as well as a very special treat: popcorn cream cone. At HighHouse, it's a proper feast with buttermilk fried prawns in sweet-and-sour sauce and sticky lamb ribs piled high on fried potato salad, then topped with garlicky XO sauce. Stay Gold Flamingo's spicy-savoury combo of mala quail eggs and padron peppers makes a welcome return.

If you would've told little me that I'd grow up to love—no, crave—sparkling water, I'd have told you you were crazy. It doesn't have any sugar and more or less tastes like battery acid, somehow with negative flavor—is what I would've said back then, but in all honesty, I couldn't have been more naive. Sparkling water and I go hand in hand these days, and it's rare that there isn't at least a solid six pack in my fridge. 😋😋SIGN UP to get delicious recipes, handy kitchen hacks & more in our daily Pop Kitchen newsletter🍳🍔 I love to keep a variety of flavors and brands on hand to really curate the fizzy water experience to fit any and every occasion. Bubly is great for when you need an everyday, easy-drinking can bursting with flavor, but Perrier is more like champagne and best reserved for steak dinners and date night. Topo Chico on the other hand is the go-to sparkling water option for hanging out on the patio with friends or firing up the Traeger and cooking up al pastor—and with summer on the horizon we've been stockpiling plenty for the if you usually get your Topo Chico from Costco, you might want to reconsider grabbing that industrial sized pack due to a recent recall issued by its parent company Coca-Cola. The iconic soda and beverage brand issued a voluntary recall on June 2 after detecting potential contamination of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a batch of Topo Chico Mineral Water distributed to Costco warehouses. Pseudomonas is a group of bacteria that can naturally occur in the environment, especially soil and water sources, including mineral water—i.e. Topo Chico. The affected products can be identified by lot code #13A2541, which can be found on the bottle necks, as well as the cases they come in. Additionally, the impacted products were sold in select Texas and Louisiana Costco stores between May 20 andMay 29, 2025. The product is listed as Costco item number 1439351 and includes 18-packs of 16.9-ounce (500mL) glass Topo Chico bottles. Although the risk of injury is considered very low for healthy individuals, it's best to discard any unopened product you might have or return it to your Costco location for a full refund. Bottled watergate: Why did French government cover for Perrier?

Environment 42:05 Is it something in the water? Why insist on bottled brands at every meal when in a country like France, it flows freely from the tap – even if it's not exactly free. We'll ask about old habits and new realities that force a rethink of what we drink. Anger bubbling over this week with the French senate concluding that the government 'at the highest level' covered up for Nestlé which continued to put the words "natural mineral water" on bottles and cans of iconic brands such as Perrier even though the threat of bacteria and pollution have long forced the Swiss food giant to filter the output of its spring in southeast France. Wherein lies the real issue here… for consumers… citizens… … and for the planet? We often cover stories about water scarcity. But it's also water management, in this instance how we provide and distribute drinking water. Whose job is it to make sure that it's clean, that it's fairly meted out? And who gets to profit from the service of providing this vital necessity?

Perrier caught in scandal. Is ‘natural' water even real any more?

London | For more than 120 years, the French brand Perrier has produced some of the world's most recognisable sparkling mineral water, its teardrop-shaped green bottles and light, fizzy bubbles synonymous with European refinement and good taste. Recently, however, the brand has found itself embroiled in a decidedly inelegant scandal involving food and drink regulations, the definition of 'natural' water and, this week, accusations of a cover-up that reached the upper levels of the French government.

French Government at centre of Perrier water scandal

The French government have found themselves in the centre of a huge scandal after it was revealed they covered up the illegal filtering treatments of premium water brands such as Perrier. A new report released by the senate discovered that Swiss food giant Nestlé, who acquired the brand in the early 90s, had used filtering treatments which were not authorised for 'natural mineral water' products. The revelation highlights Nestlé and the French Government's lack of transparency towards local and European authorities, the report stated. In the report, it was revealed that the concealment had been first addressed in October 2021 during a meeting on natural mineral waters. The senate said the 'highest levels' of the French Government were aware of the filtering treatments but failed to act on the matter. The office of President Emmanuel Macron was also aware of the 'cheating' since 'at least' 2022, according to the report. The President has since denied any knowledge of the scandal. Pic: LEON NEAL/POOL/AFP via Getty Images While there is no proven health risk to consumers, senators noted that they had still been misled as a result of the lack of transparency. The Guardian explains that there are strict EU regulations on the treatment of water marketed as 'natural mineral water.' The water cannot be disinfected or treated in a way which modify its characteristics. These methods are typically used on tap water. Nestlé Waters, earlier this year, confirmed they had used banned filters but defended the safety of their products. They added that they were always transparent to the authorities and never put pressure on the government. They added that they were always transparent to the authorities and never put pressure on the government. In a statement to Politico, they said the use of the treatment methods in the past was due to 'sporadic bacterial or chemical contamination' which was caused by 'faecal contaminations.' The organisation paid a €2m fine in order to avoid legal action. A complaint has been filed against the company by Foodwatch (a European advocacy group focusing on the protection of consumer rights in relation to food quality).
