Avengers: Doomsday And Secret Wars Just Got Major Release Shakeups, And Now I'm Wondering What This Means For Spider-Man: Brand New Day
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. With the exception of Avengers: Endgame, all of the Avengers movies have been May releases. Honestly, Endgame might as well count in that category since it came out on April 26, 2019. But now that late April/May streak is being broken. It's been officially announced that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars have both been delayed, and the release shakeups for these upcoming Marvel movies has me wondering what this might mean for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Let's get the big news out of the way first. Doomsday and Secret Wars, which were previously set for May 1, 2026 and May 7, 2027, respectively, are now pushed back to December 18, 2026 and December 17, 2027. Per sources that spoke with Deadline, these release date changes 'simply allow more time to execute on a gargantuan vision.' Marvel Studios also reportedly chose December because of how much luck its had with the 'holiday corridor,' most notably Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. Weirdly enough, this makes me a little more excited to see both these movies. I've enjoyed seeing Avengers movies kick off the summer blockbuster season stretching back to 2012, but there's something enticing about Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars helping bring their respective cinematic years to a close. I certainly enjoyed seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home right before Christmas, and we can count on Doomsday and Secret Wars to be even bigger events, as they're bringing The Multiverse Saga to a close. Last week, I wrote about the rumor that Sadie Sink is playing Mayday Parker, i.e. Peter Parker's daughter from an alternate universe, in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. At the time, I said that having Tom Holland's Peter team up with her would make sense in a post-Avengers: Doomsday landscape, as presumably the events of that movie will make travel across the multiverse easier. Now I'm not so sure this is happening. If Marvel and Sony keep Spider-Man: Brand New Day in its current release date, and the former has no problem with shifting Avengers: Doomsday to December, then that would indicate that Brand New Day's story is in no way affected by Doomsday. That, or the movie will need a massive rewrite as a result of this release date change, but if that were the case, then I'd hope Brand New Day was also delayed. The point being, maybe the next of Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies isn't a multiversal affair after all. Ever since the Spider-Man: No Way Home ending set Holland's Peter Parker up to continue his superhero activities with a new, custom-made Spidey suit and a 'back to basics' approach, many fans have been wanting to see him lead a more street-level movie. That would certainly work well with the latest rumor claiming that Scorpion, Tombstone and Boomerang will be the villains in Brand New Day. That doesn't necessarily mean you couldn't still keep things relatively street-level by throwing Mayday Parker into the mix, but if I have to choose between another multiverse-tinged team-up and something more grounded, at least by Spider-Man standards, I'm picking the latter. For now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which begins filming soon, is still slotted for release on July 31, 2026. Although you'll need to be signed up with Starz to stream Spider-Man: No Way Home, all of Tom Holland's prior MCU appearances can be streamed with the rest of the MCU catalog with a Disney+ subscription.

Marvel's VISION Reportedly Adds Human Version of Spider-Man's E.D.I.T.H. From SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME — GeekTyrant
Marvel's Vision series is quietly assembling one of the most fascinating lineups of characters the MCU has seen in a while, and the latest addition has ties to Tony Stark and Peter Parker. According to reliable scooper Daniel Richtman, Schitt's Creek star Emily Hampshire has joined the cast of Vision as the human form of E.D.I.T.H., the Stark-created AI system first introduced in Spider-Man: Far From Home . If true, it marks a big evolution for the character, who until now has only existed as a voice inside Tony's tech. While Marvel hasn't officially confirmed the casting, Richtman's recent scoop about T'Nia Miller being cast as Jocasta in the show was verified hours later by trades, so this one's likely on the money too. For those who forgot, E.D.I.T.H. was Stark's posthumous gift to Peter Parker, an augmented reality AI defense system housed in a pair of slick sunglasses, granting access to Stark's satellites, drones, and firepower. Things went south when Peter handed it off to Mysterio, and the Department of Damage Control seized it after the London debacle. Originally voiced by Dawn Michelle King, a respected film editor on projects like Ant-Man and Spider-Man: Homecoming , E.D.I.T.H. was never portrayed physically. So casting Hampshire makes sense if the series is bringing her into the flesh. Showrunner Terry Matalas, who previously worked with Hampshire on 12 Monkeys , seems to be leaning into the idea of giving physical identities to familiar AIs. Vision is already stacked with Paul Bettany back in the lead, James Spader returning as Ultron, and appearances from Marvel deep cuts like Faran Tahir reprising his Iron Man role as Raza. Hampshire will join a growing cast that also includes Todd Stashwick, and Ruaridh Mollica (rumored to play Tommy Maximoff). There are also whispers of appearances from Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda and Joe Locke as Billy Maximoff, though that hasen't been confirmed. Bettany teased the show last year, saying, 'We're cooking up something that I'm really excited about.' And when pressed for more details? 'Snitches end up in ditches,' he joked. Vision is set to begin filming in 2025 and premiere on Disney+ in 2026. Whatever form this strange techno-spiritual sequel to WandaVision takes, it sounds like it's embracing some interesting corners of the Marvel Universe.

Is Outsourcing Confidence The Next Big AI Trend?
AI Coaching In Real Time? It's Here 'Even Dead, I'm The Hero…' These posthumous words from Tony Stark ring out from beyond the grave in Spider-Man: Far From Home. The acronym also spells out EDITH. That's the name for the AI-successor to JARVIS, the super intelligence Iron Man once used to face off against evildoers like Thanos. EDITH arrives as a gift to Peter Parker in the form of augmented-reality (AR) glasses. But just how powerful are they? When a rival named Brad threatens to send a compromising pic of Parker to MJ, his crush, Parker orders EDITH to 'Take him out.' The AI companion takes the order literally. EDITH launches a deadly missile strike on their school bus, nearly assassinating Brad until Parker stops the drone attack. Romantic dalliances aside, EDITH grants Peter control over satellite networks, surveillance tools, and, of course, weaponized drones. As if Parker didn't already enjoy amazing perks any high schooler can only dream about. Wearing EDITH spectacles, he suddenly possesses a god-like interface. It responds to voice commands, doing Parker's bidding, not unlike a magic wand from another iconic cultural artifact—Harry Potter. Yet beneath the superhero escapade lies a deeper fantasy now come to life: that we can somehow access life's cheat codes. This is the promise behind Cluely AI, a smart guidance platform that gives you hints in real-time to navigate existence with greater confidence—like you're forever wearing AR glasses. Yet unlike EDITH, Cluely AI didn't come from the fevered mind of a billionaire playboy/inventor. It emerged from something far more banal—the alleged academic cheating of 21-year-old former Columbia University student Chungin 'Roy' Lee. 'Roy Lee's journey began with a bold idea: an AI tool to give job candidates an edge in interviews. While at Columbia, he developed Interview Coder, which provided real-time answers during coding interviews, leading to his suspension for academic dishonesty. Rather than retreating, Lee doubled down, rebranding his vision as Cluely, a versatile AI assistant that whispers answers during high-stakes situation,' according to Medium. Rather than retreat from this ignoble setback, Lee doubled down on his initial vision. His fledgling startup soon received several million dollars in seed funding. It also attracted significant attention—some good, some not so good—thanks to its bold approach to AI-assisted performance. As NDTV describes it, 'Cluely's AI operates undetected in a hidden browser window, providing real-time assistance during exams, sales calls, and interviews. The company justified its approach by drawing parallels to calculators and spellcheck, arguing that tools initially deemed as cheating can become normalized over time.' One of the more controversial aspects to Cluely AI is the company launch video starring Lee using his application on a date. Lee posted it to X (formerly Twitter) with this evocative description: 'Cluely is out. Cheat on everything.' For those who haven't yet seen the video, it's set in a posh restaurant. Lee sits across from his date. The romantic encounter takes an unexpected twist when it becomes clear Cluely AI is feeding Lee information in real time—much like a pair of EDITH AR glasses could inform Parker of nearby dangers. Unbeknownst to his date, Lee receives pointers from a hidden overlay. Insightful nuggets include information about her interests. Reminiscent of Roxanne, in which the more eloquent Steve Martin feeds romantic quips to a tongue-tied dolt, Cluely AI suggests responses to questions to win her over. Despite Cluely AI's sagacious advice things still threaten to go south when his date questions Lee about his age. (Lee pretends to be 30—only to be called out by their server, who demands to see I.D.) But even then Cluely AI swoops in, coming up with yet another seemingly plausible lie. Naturally, pundits are alarmed by the technology. Some have likened it to a Black Mirror episode, imagining a future world where anyone can 'cheat' their way into romantic success through underhanded technology. For his part, Lee's company has argued the tools are but a sign of the times as more people rely on sophisticated AI tools like ChatGPT for everything from essays to relationship advice. Regardless of your own take on Cluely AI, it's undeniable that the technology fulfills a core human need—the urge for certainty. Returning to the romance department, it smacks of so many dating strategy books like No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover and Models: Attract Women Through Honesty by Mark Manson. Whether it's Roxanne or a stack of romantic self-help manuals, there's something universal about the wish to stop second-guessing ourselves. To put our best foot forward, especially when the stakes are high. To invoke yet another pop cultural reference, it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode 'The Café.' In it, George convinces Elaine to take an IQ test for him to impress his girlfriend. As you can guess, things don't go well with his scheme. Again, so many simple yet familiar frustrations stem from the need to put ourselves out there better. To be perceived as smarter. Funnier. More interesting. To this end, Cluely AI assists with many performance boosts using AI. Let's go over one right now to glimpse such capabilities. Picture yourself on a live sales call on Zoom. You really want to close this person, but you struggle to find the right words to say to your prospect. In this case, Cluely AI offers real-time suggestions, including advice you on tone, pacing, even delivery to clinch the deal. Faced with this growing capability, some may worry that future generations will grow ever more dependent upon such tools, especially socially. Already, we live in a world where humans increasingly outsource many life and work skills and activities that people once did to AI from navigation to hiring decisions. Contemplating the issue from a more macro standpoint, AI is increasingly blurring the lines around what constitutes academic honesty. Just this month, The New York Times published an article on the prevalence of professors using ChatGPT on campuses. Reflecting on these developments, we'd do well to remember one final universal human need: to be more than ourselves. It underlies so many of the Marvel movies starring Peter Parker and Tony Stark. And though it's natural to wish to be a superhero with immense powers, life's real challenge isn't just developing greater capabilities. It's wrestling with our own limitations. And remembering who we really are when the glasses come off.

New Spider-Man: Brand New Day Rumor Makes Wild Claim About Sadie Sink's Role, But It Would Also Make A Lot Of Sense For Post-Avengers: Doomsday
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. When Tom Holland's Peter Parker swings back into our lives next year in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he'll have a Strangers Things star in tow. Sadie Sink was cast in the upcoming Spider-Man movie in March, and almost right out the gate, it was theorized that she might be playing Mary Jane Watson or Jean Grey. However, now there's a new Brand New Day rumor out there making a wild claim about Sink's role, and honestly, I could buy this happening in a post-Avengers: Doomsday landscape. If a source who spoke to The Hot Mic co-host John Rocha is to be believed, Sink is playing May 'Mayday' Parker, who is Peter Parker's teenage daughter from another universe in the comics and goes by Spider-Girl. But it gets even wilder, as this source claims this version of Mayday will be the daughter of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker, who teamed up with Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield's versions in Spider-Man: No Way Home. If this information is accurate, then this would be Mayday's second theatrical appearance, as she was presented as the infant daughter of Jake Johnson's Peter B. Parker in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. While this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt for now, Sadie Sink playing Mayday Parker wouldn't be the most farfetched thing to happen. Even ignoring how Tom Holland's Peter has already dabbled with multiverses craziness, just look at the upcoming Marvel movie's title: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Day… Mayday… wink, wink, nudge, nudge. More Spider-Man Stories Spider-Man: Brand New Day's Director Told The Cutest Story About How He's 'Brainwashing' His Young Son Into Becoming A Marvel Fan Ahead Of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, The Franchise's Flash Thompson Actor Shares One Hope For The Character (And I Have Mixed Feelings) More importantly though, let's remember that Brand New Day is coming out two months after Avengers: Doomsday's May 2026 release. While Marvel Studios opted to have Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel take place before the events of Avengers: Infinity War (minus their end credits scenes), there's a good chance that the next Spider-Man movie could build off what goes down in Doomsday. If that's the case, then having Mayday Parker meeting a younger variant of her father would be rather fitting, as it might become easier for travel between realities after the fifth Avengers movie. Now none of this is to say we'd also see Tobey Maguire back as his Peter or Kirsten Dunst back as Mary Jane Watson for the first time since Spider-Man 3, although I certainly hope this would happen, too. What's more important to me is that we see Sadie Sink's Mayday as Spider-Girl rather than just a powerless civilian. Let's see how she does helping our main protagonist fight whoever the villain is (Jeff Sneider, The Hot Mic's other host, claims it's going to be Mister Negative), and maybe we could then see her return in Avengers: Secret Wars. Spider-Man: Brand New Day spins its web in theaters on July 26, 2026. The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas recently joined in an undisclosed role, and Destin Daniel Cretton is directing the feature. We'll keep our eyes and ears out for any details that verify or debunk that we'll be seeing Sadie Sink as Mayday Parker.

Which villains will be seen in Spider-Man-4? Here's all that we know about Peter Parker's next challenge
The rumour mill is working overtime yet again, and this time it's churning out stories regarding the villains we can expect to see in the upcoming Spider-Man movie, Brand New Day. Out of all the places in the world, The Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products Presentation provided the fans with some insight into all the possible characters that could be standing in the way of Peter Parker and justice in the fourth film of the franchise. A user on Instagram who attended the presentation posted details about the event and the hints that they dropped during it. While the post is now deleted, it wasn't long before major publications picked it up and started breaking down all the information they had been provided with. The villains that have been named as a possibility for Spider-Man 4 include the Scorpion, Boomerang, and Tombstone. Scorpion and Tombstone have already been seen in the animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, playing the role of Kingpin's henchmen. ALSO READ: Spider-Noir teaser leaked: Nicolas Cage emerges from the shadows in live-action Spider-Man spin-off show While this information is still standing on a shaky foundation, there is news about who Stranger Things actor Sadie Sink is going to play in the movie, and it originates from a much more credible source. While appearing on the podcast The Hot Mic, industry insider John Rocha talked about his discussion with someone from the Marvel camp, and he revealed that Sadie is likely to play the character of Mayday Parker or Spider-Girl. Mayday is the daughter of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson who belongs to the 'Marvel Comics 2' universe. Technically the redheaded troublemaker has already graced the screens, as she was seen as an infant in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and was introduced as the daughter of Peter and Mary from Earth 616, which is considered the original timeline. If we look at the current information available to us about the three Spider-Men that appeared in the last film, it is most likely that Sadie will be playing the daughter of Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst's Mary Jane, who technically also belong to Earth 616. Even in the film Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tobey's Peter talks about his relationship with Dunst's Mary and says to Garfield's Peter, 'I wouldn't give up. It took a while, but we made it work, I and MJ. As rumours about character appearances fill up to the brim, fans are waiting for any kind of confirmation from the studios, while Marvel and Disney, in classic fashion, are playing this close to the chest. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set to release in theatres on July 31, 2026.
