Popular UK tourism attracts thousands of people each year for 'most random' feature
Land's End in Cornwall is one of the UK's most iconic landmarks and despite a recent viral TikTok review which branded it 'weird' and 'just a cliff' – it still draws in the visitors Finding ways to entertain yourself and the family during the summer break can be challenging, which explains why many opt to spend their day exploring attractions across Britain. Topping many lists, particularly during a Cornish getaway, is Land's End. As one of Britain's most recognisable landmarks positioned at the country's edge and serving as the most westerly point, the clifftop location has been transformed into a comprehensive family destination, featuring a museum, mini-golf course, 4D cinema and petting zoo. Nevertheless, a recent viral TikTok critique has gained traction after the visitor branded it as 'bizarre' and dismissed it as 'merely a cliff'. Yet despite the scathing review, the location continues to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. The TikTok concerned was shared by well-known reviewer Phil Carr (@Philc84), and it amassed over 1 million views. Phil opens the clip by saying: "The biggest cash-grab and the most random attraction in the UK - Land's End. God, I've had some emails about this place, and it's just weird. "Since 1066, Land's End has been open to all, but in recent years people have seen the amount of visitors that there's cash on that there cliff face." After purchasing a £21.50 ticket that granted him access to all the attractions, Phil started his adventure at the children's farm within the site. Phil remarked: "Christ knows why the most westerly point in Britain needs a children's farm, but we don't have the time to worry about it because we've got crazy golf." The pirate-themed mini-golf course was a highlight for Phil, who relished the challenge of the 15-hole game. He commented: "I am having a good time, but the problem with all mini-golf is you'll just back up behind a family with young children." Phil then experienced the thrills of the 4D cinema before exploring the museum dedicated to the iconic Land's End to John o' Groats journey. His day continued with a visit to the Aardman experience, which has been delighting visitors since its opening in 2018. The exhibit showcases beloved Aardman characters and sets, such as Morph, Wallace and Gromit, and Shaun the Sheep. He mused: "I quite like it. Everybody loves Wallace and Gromit, so why is the Aardman Experience down here?" Phil concluded his outing with a leisurely walk through the model village, a trek along the clifftop path, and a browse through the "mother of all gift shops". For those considering a trip, Land's End is a mere 20-minute drive from Penzance. Alternatively, the 1/1a and 1b bus services connect the nearby town to Land's End, though this route is less direct and takes approximately an hour according to Google Maps.

Phil's joy in EastEnders as Nigel returns to the Square - and a decision is made
Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) was left concerned in EastEnders tonight when he learnt that Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley) had gone missing. Nigel moved back to Scotland with wife Julie Bates (Karen Henthorn) last week, after Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) contacted her with Nigel's whereabouts. Julie had no idea that Nigel had left because he'd been diagnosed with young-onset dementia, and had taken to social media to try and track him down. In tonight's episode, a confused Nigel made his way back to London, where Phil learnt that Julie had no idea where he was. Thankfully, Callum Highway (Tony Clay) and Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) managed to track him down and bring him home. With Nigel safe, Phil and Julie soon began to row about where Nigel should stay, before Nigel interrupted, insisting that it should be his decision. To Phil's joy and relief, Nigel decided that he wanted to stay in Walford with him. This was difficult for Julie to accept, but after some thinking she accepted that London was where Nigel felt most comfortable, and decided to set him free. Meanwhile, Phil was also struggling, with his brain and heart having two different ideas about how best to deal with Nigel's sitaution. Fortunately, Yolande was on hand to offer some solid advice when Phil pointed out that while Nigel didn't want to leave, he also didn't want to hurt Julie. As Phil argued that Julie wasn't equipped to care for Nigel, Yolande suggested that she needed someone to guide her, which gave Phil an idea. More Trending Following Julie's decision to leave Nigel with Phil, he revealed that she didn't have to go, and offered her the spare room so that she could stay with Nigel. It was clear that Nigel was thrilled by this, as he immediately took her bags upstairs. 'Modern Family' Kiss Cam Scene Goes Viral Amid Astronomer Fallout
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A scene from the popular sitcom Modern Family has gone viral online following the fallout from the viral Coldplay kiss cam video, with social media users saying the show unwittingly predicted the moment. Why It Matters A trip to a Coldplay concert went awry for two people last week, after the Jumbotron kiss cam captured a moment that quickly snowballed into a viral sensation and scandal. The cam landed on a couple who were embracing but quickly broke apart in a panic. The clip was later uploaded to TikTok, and the pair was identified as Andy Byron, CEO of the tech firm Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company's head of Human Resources. The pair is accused of having been caught being unfaithful. Byron has now resigned as CEO. What To Know A scene from Season 1, Episode 24 of Modern Family, titled "Family Portrait," is circulating widely online. In the episode, Phil Dunphy, played by Ty Burrell, and Gloria Pritchett, played by Sofia Vergara, attend a Lakers game with their respective children, Alex Dunphy (Ariel Winter) and Manny Delgado (Rico Rodriguez). Gloria is married to Phil's father-in-law. While attending the game, Phil and Gloria end up on the kiss cam, and although Phil tries to wave it off, the camera keeps returning to them until eventually, Gloria kisses Phil. TikTok Screenshot/In the episode, Phil's wife, Claire Dunphy, played by Julie Bowman, is watching the TV as it all unfolds. Phil is informed of this by Alex, who tells him, "Mom saw you on TV. You're dead." Phil says in the episode, "What people do in the privacy of their own sports arena should be their own business." Modern Family aired its final episode in April 2020, but the scene has resonated online following the Coldplay kiss cam fallout, thanks to its similarities to the scandal. The clip was shared on Instagram by the account @ and has been viewed over 860,000 times so far. Social media user @karmaismyister also shared the clip on TikTok following the viral moment. That post has been viewed over 500,000 times and liked over 33,000 times. Social media users often draw parallels between fictional TV shows and real-life events online, with the most notable example being the long-running animated series The Simpsons, which many have claimed forecasts real-life events. What People Are Saying Social media user @ wrote on Instagram: "Modern Family saw it coming — Season 1, Episode 24 'Family Portrait.' Phil (the one in trouble) and Gloria (stepdad's wife) on the kiss cam, Claire (his wife) watching from fun turns into family chaos." Social media user @karmaismyister wrote on Instagram: "So that's where the CEO got the idea for his apology letter." Social media user @billydevine shared the clip on TikTok: "not modern family predicting the coldplay kiss cam incident."
