Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary in S.F. continues with Fillmore tribute to Phil Lesh

The Fillmore, long hallowed ground for Grateful Dead fans, will again echo with the sounds of the jam band's legacy this September as the Terrapin Roadshow rolls into San Francisco for a two-night stand celebrating the life and music of late bassist Phil Lesh. The concerts, set for Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, are part of the ongoing celebration of the Grateful Dead's 60th anniversary in its hometown. They also honor Terrapin Crossroads, the beloved Marin County venue Phil Lesh co-founded with his wife, Jill, in 2012. A hub for the Bay Area's jam band community, Terrapin Crossroads closed in 2021 but left a lasting imprint on Deadhead culture. Friday's show will feature husband-and-wife duo Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams, along with Ross James, Alex Koford, Eric Krasno, Steve Molitz and John Molo. Saturday's lineup reshuffles, bringing in Holly Bowling, Natalie Cressman and Scott Law, while James, Koford and Krasno return for a second night. 'We are so thrilled to announce that we're bringing a very special Terrapin Roadshow to the legendary Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco,' the band said in a statement. 'This has been a magical Summer celebrating Phil, the legacy of Terrapin Crossroads, and of course the music of the Grateful Dead.' Before arriving in San Francisco, the Roadshow will stop in Truckee on Sunday, Aug. 17, featuring the Terrapin Allstars, Jackie Greene, Nicki Bluhm and Ross James. Grahame Lesh, Phil's son, was originally scheduled to appear but withdrew due to family commitments. Presale tickets open at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m. General on-sale begins Friday. More information is available at Earlier this month, Dead & Company led a three-day celebration in Golden Gate Park, part of a broader anniversary tribute.

See Sturgill Simpson Join Dead and Company for ‘Morning Dew' at GD 60

Dead and Company continued their Grateful Dead 60th anniversary celebration Saturday at San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, this time bringing out Sturgill Simpson for a rendition of 'Morning Dew.' Simpson, who — after established himself as a torchbearer of the Dead's jam aesthetic during his recent tours — served as opener for the second GD 60 show, led the group through 'Morning Dew,' and traded solos with John Mayer over the track's 12-minute runtime. The GD 60 celebration concludes with one last show on Sunday night. Grateful Dead's Massive 2025 Continues With Another New Bestseller

The Grateful Dead's The Music Never Stopped debuts at No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart, marking ... More the band's fourth new bestseller of 2025. NEW YORK - OCTOBER 14: Bob Weir (L) and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead attend the signing of "Rocking The Cradle: Egypt 1978" at Best Buy on October 14, 2008 in New York City. (Photo by) The Grateful Dead may no longer be performing together, but when it comes to the band's string of releases, the music has never stopped. That's clearly reflected in the group's latest project, as the jam rockers score a new bestseller in America as The Music Never Stopped arrives and adds to the outfit's incredibly impressive run of top-performing titles. The Music Never Stopped appears on just one Billboard chart this week, following its first complete tracking frame of availability. The set opens at No. 19 on the Top Album Sales chart, launching with just under 3,900 pure purchases, according to Luminate. No. 19 is actually fairly low for the Grateful Dead when it comes to a debut position on the Top Album Sales chart. The band typically starts new collections inside the top 10, and daily frequently, very close to the summit. While it does miss the loftiest space on the list, it's worth noting that The Music Never Stopped is the group's fourth new arrival on the list of the top-selling albums in the U.S. in 2025 alone. The band has stalled in the runner-up spot with half of those collections, as both Dave's Picks, Volume 53: Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, OH - 10/2/76 and Dave's Picks, Volume 54: Baltimore Civic Center, Baltimore, MD - 3/26/73 missed out on becoming another leader for the group by just one space back in April. Another live set, Beacon Theatre - New York, NY - June 14, 1976, rose as high as No. 27 this spring. Four new bestsellers in only six months is a major accomplishment for any act — even the Grateful Dead, which ranks as one of the most successful names in the history of the Top Album Sales chart. The beloved troupe has collected 131 titles on the tally throughout the years, with dozens of them cracking the top 10. Typically, those efforts also land on the Billboard 200 and some of the company's rock rankings, but this time around, the Grateful Dead is restricted to just this one roster.

Summer Camp music festival to return next year, tickets halfway sold out

CHILLICOTHE, Ill. (WMBD) — For fans of the popular music festival Summer Camp, the stage will soon be set. The festival returns next year after its hiatus this year, which was announced after their decision to move the event, and then eventually cancel it. The 25-year-old event had moved out of its only home at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe with plans to be on Peoria's Riverfront over Memorial Day weekend for a three-day affair before it was called off. The festival was called off in March, citing several factors in a Facebook post. 'Although we gave it our best efforts, a variety of factors such as the state of the music festival industry, artist conflicts, and more did not allow us to put together a Memorial Day event this year that would live up to the Summer Camp Presents brand,' the post said. 'At this time, our team is looking ahead to our full return in 2026.' 3-day Memorial Day Summer Camp music festival is off for 2025, organizers say Now, the festival is getting a rejuvenation, and a 2026 return to its original location on May 22 through 24. In the past, the festival featured days of camping and had a counterculture 1960s feel to it. The event had also brought in some big-name performers such as George Clinton, Phil Lesh, moe., Willie Nelson, and others. The festival was downsized in 2024, citing economics as the driving factor. 'We know you all have been waiting for word of this year's festival, and we have some good news. We will indeed be hosting an event in 2025. However, with the difficult economic factors continuing to impact the festival market in various ways we have elected to make some changes which we are happy to share with you now,' another Facebook post said at the time. In the past, it was also a huge economic boom to Chillicothe as well, given that in some years, the number of guests attending was more than the village's population.
