Marvel's 'Vision Quest' Spin-Off Beams Up 'Star Trek' Writing Team

Marvel's mysterious TV project Vision Quest , a spin-off series based on 2021's WandaVision , has gained a team of veteran Star Trek writers and production staff. The series, which has been in development for over a year, will be helmed by Terry Matalas, who was the showrunner and writer of seasons two and three of 2022's Star Trek: Picard , and also wrote season 3 of 2003's Star Trek: Enterprise . Matalas isn't the lone Star Trek talent either, as he is set to reunite with fellow franchise writers for the upcoming series. WandaVision (2021) As detailed by Vision Quest's listing on the Writers Guild of America website, Matalas will be joined by co-executive producers Chris Monfette, Cindy Appel, and supervising producer Matt Okumura, who all worked on the latter half of Star Trek: Picard . Rounding off the team is co-executive producer Michael A. Taylor, who wrote episodes of the 1993 sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine , 1995's Star Trek: Voyager , and 2004's Battlestar Galactica . With such a strong team of sci-fi talent, things are looking up for the elusive Marvel series. Filming for Vision Quest began earlier in the year at Pinewood Studios in London, and although plot details have not been revealed, the series would most likely follow after the events of WandaVision and be centred around Paul Bettany's White Vision. Additionally, the series is also set to include the return of some familiar faces, such as James Spader's Ultron from 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron , alongside Raza from the original 2008 Iron Man film, the leader of the Ten Rings terrorist group who kidnaps Tony Stark in the beginning of the movie which led to the creation of the Mark 1 suit. No confirmed release window has been announced for Vision Quest , although the series is expected to be released on Disney+ sometime in 2026. Kevin is a reformed PC Master Race gamer with a penchant for franchise 'duds' like Darksiders III and Dead Space 3 . He has made it his life-long mission to play every single major game release – lest his wallet dies trying. Marvel Star Trek Vision Quest WandaVision

Marvel Fan Sneaks Onto AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY Set and Spills Location Secrets — GeekTyrant

Over the weekend, a Marvel fan managed break onto the Avengers: Doomsday set at Pinewood Studios in the UK. According to their own account, they found a hole in the surrounding fence, slipped through, and wandered around the production site of one of the most highly-guarded blockbusters in the making. While they didn't exactly walk into a climactic battle scene or stumble across Robert Downey Jr. walking around as Doctor Doom, they did get a glimpse at some interesting location details, and also helped themselves to some craft services while they were at it. Priorities. It has since been revealed that he's been hit with a formal warning from Marvel Studios, so we don't expect to see him breaking into any more movie sets anytime soon. The biggest reveal is that there are scenes being shot on Madripoor. A set clearly pointed to the fictional island nation making a return in the MCU. For comic fans, Madripoor is most famously tied to Wolverine's Patch persona, and for MCU viewers, it was introduced in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier along with the reveal of Sharon Carter's mysterious new identity as the Power Broker. Could Doomsday finally dig into that storyline? With the Russo Brothers reportedly back at the helm, it's very much on the table. Another detail spotted was signage for something called 'The Webslingers Inn.' Whether that's part of the actual film or just an inside joke among the crew remains unclear. And while this mystery set explorer didn't leak any plot details or earth-shattering reveals, their rogue adventure certainly lit a fire under fan theories, and definitely under Marvel's security team.. Given the scope of this breach, it wouldn't be surprising if this individual is soon dealing with more than just social media clout. Meanwhile, Anthony Mackie, who now wears the MCU's Captain America mantle, recently teased some massive stakes in Avengers: Doomsday : 'You know what? I was really excited, man. It's one of those stories that really pushes the boundaries, and it — the cliffhanger at the end, you know, the last moments of the film — it really builds and sets us up for a way for the continuation of the Marvel saga, which is really exciting.' And if that wasn't ominous enough, he added: 'You see these characters, and you see how they're introduced and how they play in the universe moving forward, and no one is safe. Everyone is expendable.' Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on May 7, 2027.

Reynolds accepted £4k VIP Bafta tickets despite Labour freebie row

Jonathan Reynolds took £4,000 worth of free VIP tickets to the Baftas despite a row over Labour 'freebies'. Mr Reynolds, the Business Secretary, accepted two tickets to the ceremony in London and sat in a luxury box. Labour ministers accepted more than £10,000 of free hospitality in February, including tickets to sports matches and the theatre. It comes after criticism of Cabinet ministers receiving freebies and hospitality, which began during the election campaign when Sir Keir Starmer took £16,000 worth of clothes and £2,485 worth of glasses from Lord Alli, a Labour donor. Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor, has since been criticised for accepting £600 worth of free tickets to a Sabrina Carpenter concert, which she attended with her daughter in March. She later said she would not accept any more free tickets and understood the 'perception' of ministers receiving gifts was damaging for the Government. Matthew Pennycook, a fellow minister, said at the time that he did not 'personally think it's appropriate' for Cabinet ministers to take handouts from private companies. Culture minister also attended ceremony Mr Reynolds's tickets were a gift from Pinewood Studios, where the James Bond and Marvel franchise films were made. Pinewood has complained about high business rates, and announced nine days after the award ceremony that it would review a planned expansion of its facilities because of high costs. The Bafta ceremony was also attended by Sir Chris Bryant, a culture department minister, who also accepted a £4,000 gift from the British Film Institute (BFI). Sir Chris also attended three plays at a total cost of £444. It is normal for culture ministers to attend plays and other cultural events as part of their ministerial role. Baroness Twycross, another minister in the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, attended a performance of a children's play at the National Theatre at a cost of £198, the data showed. Lord Cryer, a Government whip, received tickets to the England vs France Six Nations match at Twickenham on Feb 8. The tickets were courtesy of the Betting and Gaming Council, a trade association of gambling companies. Framed football shirt In total, the tickets received in February were worth £10,451. Sir Keir did not register any free tickets, although he disclosed that he had received a framed football shirt from Donald Trump and a vase from the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. Both items were held by the Cabinet Office rather than Sir Keir personally, under rules that require ministers to pay the difference in value for gifts above the value of £140. The same rules do not apply to tickets, which can be received and used by ministers and their families regardless of their value. There is no suggestion that any of the ministers have broken any rules. Labour has been under scrutiny for free gifts and donations since the Lord Alli controversy last year. It was later reported that Sir Keir accepted more than £100,000 worth of gifts, benefits and hospitality since the 2019 election. They included tickets to Arsenal matches and concerts by Taylor Swift and Coldplay. The disclosure showed he received more than twice the value of freebies as the next highest MP. A spokesman for Mr Reynolds did not respond to a request for comment.
