PS5 consoles get massive £90 price cut in PlayStation sale
Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more As part of the PlayStation summer sale, Sony has cut the price of various PS5 consoles, with the cheapest being less than £340. Sony's PlayStation 5 has been out for nearly five years, but it still hasn't received any permanent price cut – instead, Sony has bumped up the price several times since 2020. The company has blamed the 'challenging economic environment' for these price hikes, most recently in April, but it means any temporary discounts are worth capitalising on to lessen the financial damage. If you've been on the fence about a PlayStation 5, Sony has now slashed the prices across various models on the PlayStation Direct store. As part of its summer sale, which has also seen thousands of games discounted across the PlayStation Store, the PlayStation 5 console with a disc drive is £45 off at £434.99. However, if you don't require a disc drive (or prefer to buy one later), you can pick up the digital version for only £339.99, which is £90 off the original £429.99 price. Before the recent price hike, the PlayStation 5 digital edition cost £389.99, so you're still saving £50 from the previous price. If you fancy picking up another DualSense controller, there are other bundles too. The digital version with two controllers is £90 off at £389.99, while the standard console with another DualSense is £45 off at £484.99. More Trending While there's no discount on the PS5 Pro, you can pick up the base PlayStation 5 console with a 24-month PlayStation Plus Premium subscription for £634.99, which is £45 off. This is the highest tier of PlayStation Plus, which usually costs £119.99 per year. These deals are live now and run until July 29, 2025, while supplies last. It's not a bad time to pick up the console either. PlayStation 5 exclusive Death Stranding 2: On The Beach recently launched, and Ghost of Yōtei is set to drop on October 2, 2025. You can also catch up on the likes of Returnal, Astro Bot, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2. While the PlayStation 5 is still going strong, Sony has already been talking about the console's successor, which is expected to launch around 2027. The Pro 3 is 8BitDo's first controller with swappable buttons
8BitDo has released a new version of its wireless Pro controller that was last updated in 2021. Many of 8BitDo's recent controller releases, including the Ultimate 2, feature an asymmetrical joystick layout like Nintendo and Microsoft use. But the new Pro 3 mirrors the design of the PlayStation DualSense controller, with side-by-side sticks that are now upgraded with drift-resistant TMR technology. The Pro 3 is also 8BitDo's first controller that lets you easily swap the arrangement of its ABXY buttons. The 8BitDo Pro 2 launched at $49.99 four years ago, but the new Pro 3 is debuting with a slightly steeper $69.99 price. 8BitDo has also switched to using a 1,000mAh rechargeable battery for the Pro 3, and while the company says it offers up to 20 hours of gameplay on a full charge, it's not removable. The Pro 3 includes a convenient charging dock that doubles as storage for its 2.4GHz dongle. When the controller dies, it can still be used while connected to a console via USB, and it will charge while you play. The Pro 3 is available for preorder starting today and officially will be on sale on August 12th. There are three color options, each of which matches different retro consoles: gray (PlayStation), G classic (Game Boy), and purple (GameCube). The Pro 3's design is nearly identical to the Pro 2, but it's gained a few extra buttons. It carries forward the Pro 2's back buttons while introducing an additional set of smaller shoulder buttons. Its triggers also use Hall effect sensors for improved accuracy and durability, while newly added switches let you choose a longer trigger for racing games or a shorter one for faster reaction times in FPS titles. Compatibility includes support for Windows, Android, both Switch consoles (with waking capabilities), SteamOS (you can shake the controller to wake the OLED Steam Deck), and Apple's hardware, with Bluetooth, USB, or wireless 2.4GHz connectivity. Out of the box, the Pro 3 uses the Xbox's button layout, but you can swap the A and B buttons to match Nintendo Switch controllers, or rearrange them all to whatever layout you prefer. The Pro 3 works with 8BitDo's Ultimate Software V2 so that you can remap the layout, and the controller can store and switch between three different custom profiles. Although the ergonomics are questionable, 8BitDo is also including a pair of arcade-style ball-top caps that can be attached to the Pro 3's joysticks.

Third Lawsuit Filed Against Crime-Plagued Dallas Apartment Complex
DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Firouzbakht Law Firm has filed a third lawsuit against the owners and operators of Riverstation Apartments following a July 2023 shooting in which two men were seriously injured. 'This pattern is the result when apartment complexes allow violent criminal activity to flourish unchecked,' said attorney Eric Firouzbakht. 'The owners and managers of this complex have known for years that their property is a magnet for violent crime, yet they continue to do nothing. We are seeing the same story play out again and again. Only the victims' names are changing.' The lawsuit, filed in Dallas County, details that two individuals were shot by unknown gunmen on July 13, 2023, while simply walking through or returning to the property. One was struck in the upper leg, causing permanent nerve damage. The other victim was shot in the ankle while returning home to his grandmother's apartment after a trip to the store. The complaint says both men were shot by the same unidentified gunmen who were lying in wait behind the complex dumpsters and firing indiscriminately. This latest case follows two other lawsuits filed by Firouzbakht Law Firm in 2024, including one on behalf of 20-year-old Darius Young, who was murdered during a robbery in the Riverstation parking lot while trying to sell his PlayStation, and another involving two minor children who were shot while playing outside. The latest complaint outlines ongoing failures, including unsecured entry points, lack of patrols, minimal or non-functional security cameras and ignoring crime prevention guidance from local officials. The lawsuit alleges property owners failed to implement even the most basic security measures despite a well-documented history of violent crime at the location. The new case is Antierias West and Corey Lynch v. Dallas Leased Housing Associates XI LLLP, Dominium Management Services LLC, et al. cause no. DC-25-10949 in Dallas County. About Firouzbakht Law Firm
