The Modesto Bee reported that the incident occurred Friday at Diablo Valley College in the city of Pleasant Hill. Two people were taken to the hospital with injuries and 10 were treated at the scene, college officials said, adding the incident is under investigation. 'Our thoughts are with all individuals and families affected by this incident, and we wish those injured a speedy recovery,' the college said in a statement. More than 2,400 students were graduating from the public community college northeast of San Francisco.

"We do not know the circumstances of why the tree fell," she told the outlet, adding, "We were able to complete the graduation, and an announcement was made for people to stay clear so that some response vehicles could get through." Multiple injured after tree falls during Diablo Valley College graduation
PLEASANT HILL, Calif. - A tree fell near the stadium at Diablo Valley College shortly at the end of the graduation ceremony Friday evening, causing multiple injuries. Con Fire officials said there were a handful of injuries, but it does not appear that the tree fell upon people or that anyone was trapped underneath it. However, witnesses told KTVU there were people trapped under the tree for some amount of time. Diablo Valley College said around 12 people were injured when the tree fell shortly before 7 p.m. A spokesperson said the injured were bystanders watching the ceremony. The severity of the injuries is unknown, but at least two people were taken to local hospitals for treatment. School officials said police and EMT personnel were already present per their event protocols, but additional emergency personnel arrived to treat those hurt.
