Poco made a last-minute change to the Poco F7, says it's all for the fans
The Poco F7 is generating a lot of buzz for its long list of upgrades and fairly aggressive pricing. Many of them were presumably pre-planned as is the nature of these things but turns out, Poco also made some last-minute changes to make the Poco F7 more appealing to fans and enthusiasts. According to Poco India country head, Himanshu Tandon, the Xiaomi spin-off brand initially planned to support the Poco F7 for only four years at the max. That is, it was supposed to get three years of major operating system and up to four years of security updates. But fans asked, or were asking the brand for more, and so Poco 'obliged' and decided to extend it by another two years. This means the Poco F7 will - now - get four years of major OS and six years of security updates from Poco. advertisement'It will be 4 years OS +6 years Security updates. Earlier we planned for 3+4 but fans asked us to extend it to 4+6. Hence we obliged. Hope that settles the confusion,' Tandon wrote on X, the platform previously known as Twitter. He acknowledged that the change would add extra cost to the company, but seemingly, it is ready to absorb it because it is focusing on giving long term value. 'There is cost associated with everything. But believe in giving long term value rather than focus on short term benefits.' The Poco F7 is shipping with Android 15 based Hyper OS 2. With Poco ramping up support, buyers are good to go for until Android 19, plus two more years until support runs out which adds another feather to an already feature-packed showing. The Poco F7 packs tremendous value overall but it all really narrows down to two key features. The phone is among the first to bag Qualcomm's freshly minted Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and in India, Poco has put a massive 7,550mAh Silicon-Carbon battery inside it even as the global variant makes do with a smaller 6,500mAh. The Poco F7 also supports 90W charging and fast reverse charging up to 22.5W. There are other niceties too like a large and vibrant 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, stereo speakers, 50-megapixel main camera, and a stunning glass and metal design with IP69 dust and water resistance rating. The Poco F7 starts at Rs 31,999 in India for a variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. - Ends

Poco F7 India launch today at 5:30PM: Price, specs and everything else expected
The Poco F7 is set to launch in India today at 5:30PM The launch will be streamed live on Poco India's official YouTube channel Ahead of the launch, the specs, price and other details of the phone have leaked online Poco is ready to unveil its latest smartphone under the popular F-series in India, the Poco F7. The launch event is scheduled for today at 5:30PM IST. As always, the launch will be streamed live on Poco India's official YouTube channel, where fans and interested buyers can catch all the announcements in real-time. One can also stay tuned to India Today Tech for all the updates. As the launch event is still hours away, one can check out the leaked design, specs and price details below. Poco F7: Full specs (leaked) Biggest battery ever on a phone? Ahead of the official reveal, Poco has already teased a few key features of the Poco F7 through Flipkart and social media. Among all the specs, the one that's drawing the most attention is its massive battery. According to the teaser, the Poco F7 will come with a 7,550mAh battery, likely the biggest ever seen in a mainstream smartphone in India so far. For users who have long complained about battery anxiety, this could be one of the most practical upgrades we've seen on a performance phone in a while. The company is also promising impressive battery life. As per details listed on Flipkart, the Poco F7 can deliver up to 2.18 days of usage on a single charge during moderate use. This kind of battery backup is rare in mid-range and high-end smartphones, especially those focused on performance. The phone will also support 90W fast wired charging, which should help top up the large battery quickly. Additionally, the Poco F7 is said to feature 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing it to power other devices, much like a power bank. The Poco F7's large battery puts it ahead of competitors like the Vivo T4 and iQOO Z10, both of which feature 7,300mAh cells. If Poco manages to bring this phone to market ahead of its rivals, the F7 could claim the title of India's biggest battery phone, at least for now. Naturally, packing such a big battery raises concerns about size and weight. Poco has not yet revealed the full design of the device, so it remains to be seen how the company has handled the ergonomics. The challenge will be to ensure the phone remains comfortable to hold and carry, without compromising too much on style or convenience. Chipset, display, IP rating, camera On the performance front, the Poco F7 is expected to be powered by the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, as hinted by a recent Geekbench listing. One of the variants is likely to include 12GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is a capable chip designed for flagship-grade performance, offering a setup focused more on raw power than power efficiency. Compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which uses a more balanced combination of performance and efficiency cores, the 8s Gen 4 leans more toward heavy lifting, making it well-suited for gaming and demanding tasks. For your reference, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip has one Cortex-X4 core, five Cortex-A720 cores, and two Cortex-A520 cores, making it superior for both efficiency and performance. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 features one Cortex-X4 and seven Cortex-A720 cores without any efficiency cores, offering stronger multi-core performance but less power efficiency. Several leaks also point to the Poco F7 being a rebadged version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, which was recently introduced in China. If this turns out to be true, we can expect the Poco F7 to feature a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. That combination should offer a crisp viewing experience, whether for streaming, scrolling, or gaming. The display could also come with support for HDR and eye protection modes. Other likely features include an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, which would be a welcome addition in this segment. The phone may ship in configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and as much as 1TB of internal storage, based on the Chinese model. On the camera front, the Poco F7 is tipped to include a triple camera setup at the back. This may include a 50-megapixel primary sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. On the front, a 20-megapixel selfie camera is expected. Poco F7: Leaked price When it comes to pricing, Poco has generally kept its F-series models well under the Rs 30,000 mark, offering high-end specs at an accessible price point. For reference, the Poco F5 and F6 were both launched at Rs 29,999 in India, while the Poco F4 started at Rs 27,999. Given the upgrades on offer, especially the larger battery and new processor, a small price hike can't be ruled out. But the brand is still expected to stay competitive within the Rs 30,000 segment. As competition heats up in this category, especially with brands like OnePlus and iQOO pushing aggressively priced devices, Poco will be hoping that its unique combination of battery, performance, and display gives the F7 an edge. With the official launch just a few hours away, all details will soon be confirmed. But if the leaks and teasers are any indication, the Poco F7 could be one of the most feature-packed phones under Rs 30,000 this year.
