Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Raping 7-Year-Old Girl at Wife's Daycare Center

The girl's mother said her child is now experiencing difficulties at school and is scared of the dark A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping a 7-year-old girl who attended his wife's daycare center. The 50-year-old man was found guilty of sexually assaulting the girl multiple times between February 2021 and August 2022 while she was attending his wife's home daycare in Point Cook, Victoria, located southwest of Melbourne, according to 7 News, and the Herald Sun. The girl, who had been attending the daycare in Australia since she was two years old, first complained to her older sister about pain in her genital area in November 2022. She told a doctor the following day what had happened, and local police then got involved. The abuse took place in a lounge in the home after school and on weekends. Police obtained security camera footage from the lounge room, but no recordings of the abuse had been retained, the outlets reported. It's currently unknown if the man, whose identity has not been made public, had undergone a Working With Children Check — a screening process in Australia for assessing people who work with or care for children — or if the families of the other children who attended the daycare have been informed of the case, the outlets reported. A spokesperson for the Australian Department of Education said the daycare has been shut down and banned. The man was sentenced to 15 years and six months in prison, with a non-parole period of nine years and nine months, per the outlets. He will be required to complete a sex offender treatment program and will be placed on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life. During his sentencing, a Victoria judge called the man's actions "abhorrent," per 7 News. "Your victim was only seven years of age. Your actions were abhorrent and, as conceded by your counsel, the offending was humiliating, demeaning and objectifying," the judge said, adding: "Your offending was opportunistic, committed on occasions where your wife was not in the vicinity." Man jailed for raping 7-year-old girl at wife's daycare centre

*Content warning: Contains content that some may find distressing* The husband of a daycare owner has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for the repeated rape of a seven-year-old girl inside his wife's daycare centre. The now 50-year-old offender, who cannot be named, was found guilty of repeatedly sexually assaulting the child between February 2021 and August 2022 inside the daycare, which was run out of the couple's home in Point Cook, southwest of Melbourne. The abuse happened in the loungeroom of the home after school and on weekends, when she attended the daycare, according to the Herald Sun. The little girl later told police she was 'scared' and 'tricked' by the man who she claimed had a 'weird smile'. The girl is now scared of the dark, suffers nightmares, asks to have a camera in her room for safety, and has difficulties at school. She had been attending the home childcare since she was two-years-old. The assaults came to light in November 2022 after the girl complained to her older sister about pain in her genital region. She was then taken to the doctor the following day where she shared what had happened to her. She was then referred to the Royal Children's Hospital and Victoria Police were contacted. While CCTV was located, which filmed the loungeroom where the abuse occurred, no recordings from the exact period of the offences had been kept. The daycare at the residence is now banned to prevent further risks, a Department of Education spokesman confirmed. It is unknown whether or not the abuser, who is originally from the Philippines and emigrated in 2002, had a working with children's check. It is also not known how many other children he cared for and whether other parents had been notified. The girl's mother says she's now in a constant state of guilt. 'I blame myself for what happened … The anxiety, the helplessness, the fear that I failed her is like running a marathon I never signed up for. And it never ends,' she told the court, as per the publication. The man will spend a minimum of nine years and nine months in jail and will be required to do a sex offenders treatment program. He will also appear on the sex offenders registry for the rest of his life. The Melbourne suburb has been in the headlines recently after the alleged daycare abuses of Joshua Dale Brown, 26. Brown, a childcare worker, was charged in May with more than 70 offences including sexual activity in presence of a child under 16, sexual assault of a child under 16 and possessing child abuse material. STI testing is underway of about 2000 children as part of the police investigation.

Horrific new details of alleged daycare monster Joshua Dale Brown - as he's accused of committing 18 sex crimes against children in one day at Melbourne centre

A man charged with 73 child sex offences allegedly committed a significant proportion of them on a single day. It can now be revealed police allege childcare worker Joshua Dale Brown, 26, committed 18 offences on April 28, 2022, while working at a Melbourne daycare centre. The revelations follow a Daily Mail Australia report that indicated a child linked to a daycare centre Brown worked at had been infected with a sexually transmitted disease. Sources close to the investigation claimed a young child had been diagnosed with gonorrhoea. Charge sheets released to the media late on Tuesday suggest police allege Brown is accused of committing 18 offences on a single day while working at a Point Cook centre, in Melbourne 's west. The charges linked to that day include multiple counts of sexually touching an unknown child aged under 16, engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of an unknown child under the age of 16, and the production and transmission of child abuse material. He was allegedly at it again just weeks later, police claim, charging him with even more offences on May 31. Again, the alleged offences related to sexually touching a child, and producing and transmitting child abuse material. Five months later, police alleged Brown engaged yet again in sexual activity in the presence of an unknown child aged under 16, as well as multiple counts of sexually touching an unknown child aged under 16 and producing and transmitting child abuse material. Two months later, on December 2, 2022, it's alleged Brown sexually touched an unknown child aged under 16 and produced and transmitted child abuse material. That same day, police allege Brown contaminated food with bodily fluids. It is this alleged crime that sparked a massive public health warning, with the parents of 2,000 children urged by authorities to have them tested for infectious diseases after Brown's alleged offending was revealed on July 1. On December 15, 2022, detectives allege Brown attempted to sexually penetrate a child under 12 years of age. It was the very same day they claim he also sexually touched an unknown child aged under 16 and produced child abuse material. Police allege Brown's offending carried on into the following year, when he allegedly struck again during the summer school holiday period. On January 10, 2023, Brown allegedly 'took part in an act of sexual penetration with an unknown child under the age of 12 years' using his penis. On the same day, police allege he also 'intentionally took part in an act of sexual penetration with an unknown child under the age of 12 years' using his finger, sexually touched an unknown child under the age of 16 and produced and transmitted child abuse material. The remaining charges are alleged to be linked to various dates between July 17, 2023, and December 5, 2023, and in January and May of this year. Brown had worked at a total of 23 childcare centres over an eight-year period between January 2017 and May 2025. On Tuesday, Brown fronted the Melbourne Magistrates' Court, where the court heard Victorian detectives still faced a mammoth task to finalise their case against the alleged child molester. Brown has engaged top Melbourne barrister Rishi Nathwani KC to head his defence. In attempting to have his client's charge sheets withheld from the media, Mr Nathwani revealed the case against his client remained very much 'in flux'. An affidavit supplied by detectives to the court said the investigation was incomplete and needed more time to compile the final brief of evidence against Brown. 'Your honour has had the benefit of the affidavit which indicates that the police are working very hard,' Mr Nathwani said. 'There's quite a lot for them to get through and as a consequence your honour sees there's discussion there about potential further charges and I would say potential amendments, changes etc going forward (to the brief). 'So at this stage it's entirely premature, given how serious this is, and it could prejudice any future proceedings. 'I ask your honour to resist it, not grant it at this stage and revisit it once we have the full brief of evidence when matters are properly known and I anticipate a different summary, with more detail and potentially different charges.' While no formal application for a suppression order was made, the informal application to hide the charges from the public was opposed by the media on the grounds the court had a mandate to open justice. Magistrate Donna Bakos agreed, telling Mr Nathwani the charges were a matter of public record. 'They're filed and ordinarily the press are granted access to charge sheets ... unless there is good reason, obviously, not to,' she said. Ms Bakos granted the media access to the charge sheets. Brown's co-accused, Michael Simon Wilson, 36, faces 45 charges ranging from rape to child porn possession, transmission and production, as well as 'sexually penetrating an animal, namely a dog'. Wilson has also been charged with using a carriage service to transmit material to a person that directly or indirectly incited committing suicide. The relationship between Wilson, who is not a childcare worker, and Brown remains unclear. Charge sheets indicated both men are facing charges that were allegedly committed on the same dates, including on April 28, 2022, when Brown allegedly committed multiple counts of child abuse material production and Wilson allegedly committed multiple counts of possession and access of child abuse material. Both men will reappear in court on separate dates, with Brown not due back until February next year.

EXCLUSIVE Child is diagnosed with sexually transmitted disease after hundreds of toddlers had to be tested over links to alleged daycare monster - as cops prepare to lay even more charges against him

A child who attended a daycare centre where a worker was subsequently charged with more than 70 child sex offences has been infected with a sexually transmitted disease. Sources close to the investigation into childcare worker Joshua Dale Brown, 26, have revealed to Daily Mail Australia that a young child has since been diagnosed with gonorrhoea. It is a disease that can affect various parts of the body, including the genitals, rectum, and throat. In both males and females, infection is known to cause intense pain when urinating and is typically treated with antibiotics. It is understood the child attended one of the Point Cook daycare facilities in Melbourne's west where Brown had been employed. Brown worked at a total of 23 childcare centres over an eight-year period between January 2017 and May 2025. The parents of 2,000 children have been urged by authorities to have them tested for infectious diseases after Brown's alleged offending was revealed on July 1. Victorian Department of Health and Victoria Police refused to comment this week, but reiterated that they believe few children are at risk of being infected. 'Our Chief Health Officer last week stated: "…test results we've received to date as part of this investigation reaffirm that the risk is low",' a health department spokesman told Daily Mail Australia. 'This advice remains unchanged. We are unable to comment on an individual's private health information.' On Tuesday, Brown fronted the Melbourne Magistrates' Court where the court heard Victorian detectives still face a mammoth task to finalise their case against the alleged child molester. 'I ask your honour to resist it, not grant it at this stage and revisit it once we have the full brief of evidence when matters are properly known and I anticipate a different summary, with more detail and potentially different charges.' Mr Nathwani also referred to a suppression order granted for the Erin Patterson trial, who was found guilty of multiple murders just weeks ago. 'It's the same sort of situation,' he said. 'It says material that could influence a jury - if this matter gets to a jury - the court should in these rare circumstances intervene.' While no formal application for a suppression order was made, the informal application to hide the charges from the public was opposed by the media on the grounds the court had a mandate to open justice. Magistrate Donna Bakos agreed, telling Mr Nathwani the charges were a matter of public record. 'They're filed and ordinarily the press are granted access to charge sheets ... unless there is good reason, obviously, not to,' she said. Ms Bakos granted the media access to the charge sheets, which are expected to be emailed to news outlets sometime on Tuesday afternoon. The magistrate further allowed the prosecution to delay filing its final brief of evidence until December, with the next court date set for February next year. Co-accused Michael Simon Wilson, 36, who also faces charges related to child abuse material, will reappear in court in November. While the pair are known to each other, according to court documents, it remains unclear how Wilson is linked to Brown. It is understood Wilson's alleged offending is not connected to childcare facilities or any of the children alleged to be victims in the other case. Brown, from Point Cook, southwest of Melbourne, is facing charges including the sexual penetration of a child, producing child abuse material and recklessly contaminating goods to cause alarm or anxiety. The alleged offending happened during his time at Creative Garden Early Learning Centre Point Cook, where he worked between October 2021 and February 2024. In December 2021, Brown's partner posted a photo of the pair which featured the alleged paedophile grinning with pink and blue dyed hair. Pictures also emerged of a tattooed Brown interacting with children at one of the 20 daycare centres where he worked. Police are also investigating allegations of other offending at a childcare centre in Essendon. Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan said she was 'sickened by these allegations of abuse'. Liberal Shadow Minister for Education in Victoria Jess Wilson has criticised the State Government's plan to conduct a rapid review into the childcare sector. Victorian Children's Commissioner told the ABC the Brown case would not be part of that investigation. 'I think it's deeply troubling,' Ms Wilson told Melbourne's 3AW radio station. Ms Wilson said the case must be included to understand broader systemic failures. Brown has remained in custody since his arrest in mid-May. His Point Cook home was raided by police shortly after an investigation was launched earlier that same month. He was not known to police before his arrest and had a valid Working With Children Check, which has since been cancelled.
