Kaizer Chiefs bid for rated Bafana winger goes to ‘advanced stage'!
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly close to agreeing terms with Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis, which would end a near-year chase. Following an impressive start to the season, the 23-year-old finished the campaign out of sorts, but that hasn't deterred AmaKhosi from making their move. 'What we believe is that apparently the talks involving Appollis and Kaizer Chiefs are at an advanced stage,' an inside source revealed. The Appollis links come at a good time for coach Nasreddine Nabi, who has demanded that the club to purchase more players in the offseason following a ten-player haul last offseason and several signings in the summer. 'I wouldn't be honest if say that I'm gonna stay if the club doesn't allow me to get all the tools to succeed next season because they have promised, and myself, I have promised the fans that I want to build a successful team that will compete in every competition to win trophies.' 'That's the condition for me to stay [at Chiefs] because I don't feel that I want to go through what I went through this season.' Kaizer Chiefs closing in on Oswin Appollis
Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis. The Soweto giants have been linked to the Polokwane City star for nearly two years. Before the start of the season, Amakhosi reportedly made an offer to Rise and Shine but was rejected. Appollis has had an average season, only managing to score two goals. His impact with the national team have been immense since the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Regarding his future, Soccer Laduma reported that Appollis might be eyeing a move to Kaizer Chiefs next season. 'What we believe is that apparently the talks involving Appollis and Kaizer Chiefs are at an advanced stage,' the source told the publication. Another city star Thabang Matuludi, is set to leave the club at the end of the season. 'Yes, it's believed that Orlando Pirates are close to signing Thabang Matuludi, so the way things are, the two Soweto giants could get a player each from Polokwane City at the start of next season,' Soccer Laduma reported. Polokwane City head coach Phuti Mohafe did not detail whether the club would lose Appollis and Matuludi to both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. That has been every team's mandate or method to say, 'We need to strengthen, and you have to lose some.' You cannot bring in some, and you still have a load of players who are still remaining on the team,' Phuti told the media. 'And the speculation has been there, so let them continue, and I don't want to mention names as to who are being touted. So let it be. Whoever goes, let him go, and whoever stays, let him stay.' Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo claimed that Appollis was keen on joining Amakhosi before the start of the season. It remains to be seen if the speedy winger will move to another PSL team. Orlando Pirates transfers: Mofokeng, Matuludi, Makhaula
Today's Orlando Pirates transfer wrap looks at the latest on Relebohile Mofokeng and the club's pursuit of Thabang Matuludi. According to Soccer-Laduma , Orlando Pirates will soon seal a deal for Polokwane City right-back Thabang Matuludi. 'Yes, it's believed that Orlando Pirates are close to signing Thabang Matuludi so the way things are, the two Soweto giants could get a player each from Polokwane City at the start of next season,' said a source to the same publication. Chaine; Van Rooyen, Sesane, Mbokazi, Letlapa; Mbatha, Makhaula; Appollis, Nkota, Mofokeng; Mabasa. The evergreen 35-year-old Makhehlene Makhaula is certainly still effective and good enough for at least another season at the top level. Pirates might invest in their midfield, but any new arrivals would need to work hard to dislodge the outstanding hard man in the centre of the park. This projected XI also presupposes that Pirates might accept a big-money offer for Patrick Maswanganyi if it arrives. That would see Relebohile Mofokeng more often utilised in the number 10 role. A return to action for the outstanding central defender Thabiso Sesane would also be a massive bonus. Orlando Pirates set to finally secure Polokwane City star!
Orlando Pirates have started attacking the transfer market before it has even opened, with no signs of stopping. Pirates are, yet to play even their last game of the Betway Premiership season, but are already eyeing the next. The Buccaneers are setting to take on Magesi FC in their last league encounter on Wednesday evening. That could also coincide with some of the players at the club playing their last game at Pirates. This in anticipation of a new era, post the three-year tenure of recently departed Spanish coach Jose Riveiro. Before even announcing their next coach, it looks like the Pirates management are moving quickly to equip him. It is rumoured that they have already secured about six transfer agreements ahead of the new season. On top of that, this publication recently reported that they're still targeting AmaZulu winger Tshepang Moremi too. Despite the player being consistently linked with arch rivals Kaizer Chiefs, it's believed the Sea Robbers will make a bid soon. But that is not where they are expected to stop in terms of recruitment, however. According to Soccer-Laduma , Pirates are ready to go back and close the deal for Polokwane City right-back Thabang Matuludi! 'Yes, it's believed that Orlando Pirates are close to signing Thabang Matuludi so the way things are, the two Soweto giants could get a player each from Polokwane City at the start of next season,' said a source to the same publication. Chiefs were also believed to have shown an interest in Matuludi but Pirates seemed to overtake them in January. In turn, Amakhosi seem to have edged ahead of their Soweto neighbours in a pursuit of another City star Oswin Appollis . Kaizer Chiefs close in on signing of Polokwane City star Appollis
Kaizer Chiefs appear to be edging closer to securing the services of Polokwane City's standout winger Oswin Appollis, as first reported by The South African . With transfer speculation heating up, Polokwane's head coach Phuti Mohafe has broken his silence, all but confirming that key players will leave the club before the new season kicks off. Following Polokwane City's impressive top-eight finish in the Betway Premiership, coach Mohafe addressed the media with a frank admission about upcoming departures in his squad. Although he refrained from naming names. 'That has been every team's mandate or method to say, 'we need to strengthen and you have to lose some'. You cannot bring in some and you still have a load of players who are still remaining in the team,' said Mohafe. 'And the speculation has been there so let them continue and I don't want to mention names as to who and who are being touted. So let it be, whoever goes let him go, and whoever stays let him stay.' His words have added weight to rumours linking Appollis with a blockbuster move to Naturena. A source has claimed that Kaizer Chiefs are deep in discussions to lure the 23-year-old winger to Soweto. Appollis, who was notably absent in Polokwane's final clash of the season against Kaizer Chiefs, is believed to be on the verge of sealing the transfer. 'What we believe is that apparently the talks involving Appollis and Kaizer Chiefs are at an advanced stage. The Soweto giants could get the player from Polokwane City at the start of next season,' revealed the source. Despite all signs pointing to an imminent exit, Appollis still has one year remaining on his contract, which runs until June 2026. Polokwane City could technically retain the winger. But Mohafe's comments suggest the club might be open to cashing in before his value drops. Appollis featured in 28 matches across all competitions this past season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. In contrast, during the 2023/2024 campaign, he found the net seven times and delivered five assists. Will Kaizer Chiefs finally sign Appollis?
