5 Of 2025's Best Cheap Switch 2 Accessories: Cases, Pads, And More
You've paid a lot for your Nintendo Switch 2, so now it's time to pay less for the inevitable ... More accessories you need for it. So, you've spent $500 on this year's hottest console, which now begs the question: given you've already paid a small fortune for it, should you stick with Nintendo for Switch 2 accessories? If 2025's early selection is anything to go by, it's a great chance to save some money. You'd be forgiven for questioning the quality of the third-party cases, covers, controllers, and charging docks that have flooded stores so quickly after launch day, but this is 2025. It's one hell of a competitive market, and one that's driving probably the best level of craftsmanship from unofficial manufacturers. With this in mind, here are a handful of recommendations that won't break the bank, and in some cases, genuinely perform better than Nintendo's alternatives. However, the company knows good partners when it sees them, because a couple of approved collaborations have found their way onto this list. Best cheap Switch 2 controller: PowerA Advantage Wired Controller ($40) PowerA has a habit of getting things done very well without going above and beyond, as most recently proved by its flashy, light-up Xbox controller, which I adore. The PowerA Advantage Wired Controller for Switch 2 — which is officially licensed — is also a lovely bit of kit. The PowerA Advantage is also available in more garish, Nintendo-themed colors, if that's your thing. FEATURED | Frase ByForbes™ Unscramble The Anagram To Reveal The Phrase Pinpoint By Linkedin Guess The Category Queens By Linkedin Crown Each Region Crossclimb By Linkedin Unlock A Trivia Ladder It's much lighter than standard Switch 1 and 2 Pro Controllers, making it especially great for younger players, and the sticks alone are its strongest draw, combining Hall effect sensors with an obscenely smooth feel. The only thing I really don't like about it is the button placement for +/-, Home, GameChat, and Screenshot, which are lined up in a solid row at the bottom of the front face. There are three things in life guaranteed: death, taxes, and always forgetting the order of these buttons. It must be said that the PowerA recommendation is based on in-store and online availability. Loads of online sellers, particularly those shipping directly from China, are transforming the broader controller market, so you should also check out a few other options from the likes of Mobapad and GameSir, which have updated their firmware for the next generation (and, more often than not, work just as well as PC controllers). Of course, there's always the ultimate meeting-in-the-middle option: using a standard Switch Pro Controller. You can pick them up for about $45; the battery lasts forever, and it's still the best and most comfortable standard console controller from the last generation. However, you won't get the same vibration, nor can it turn your Switch 2 on. Best budget all-in-one Switch 2 case: Snakebyte System Organizer Case S2 ($30) Even though it's a little plain to look at, Snakebyte's System Organizer Case S2 is an absolute masterpiece — it just gets everything right, offering loads of flexibility with its detachable console case in the lid. Snakebyte's range is simple but effective. In the main chamber, there's plenty of room for the docking station, controllers, and wires. It features a solid, scratch-resistant shell that's also water-repellent, alongside a shoulder strap for easy carrying. Considering the official carry case retails for $80 or more (if you can even get one), this option from Snakebyte, for only $30, should be on anyone's shortlist. While you're there, and while it's not a category below because it's a bit niche, Snakebyte's Power Charge S2 is probably the best charging plug if you're a frequent traveller, especially because it comes with a standard U.S. plug and adaptors for Europe, the U.K., and Australia — not bad for $20. Best value compact Switch 2 travel case: Game Traveler Deluxe System Case ($30) As the most crowded market of all, the selection of Switch 2 travel cases depends on one key factor: will this case be in frequent contact with other items, such as a stuffed backpack or carry-on luggage? While some cases may look the part, there's a good chance you might ding your Joy-Cons with lighter protection, which is why I'm leading with something more heavy-duty. Most people will only buy one case for their Switch 2, so if you choose a smaller-sized one, opt for the official Game Traveler Deluxe System Case. Its biggest draw is that it not only protects the screen with a fabric flap, but also positions the console face into the broader case, meaning you don't have to worry about your Joy-Cons being knocked about from the outside. There's more than enough space for a controller and plug, plus 12 games in its weirdly overengineered 'Protection Library.' The Game Traveler Deluxe System Case. If you're a little more careful, and want to spend even less, you can't fault the $20 PowerA Slim Case for Nintendo Switch 2, which certainly looks the part thanks to its official partnership, but it won't stop your jaw from dropping if it hits the ground from a great height, nor does it quite protect the Joy-Con sticks. Best budget Switch 2 handheld protective case: Mumba Blade Series Dockable Case ($30) If you're much more of a handheld Switch 2 fan, but still want the flexibility to dock it and play on the big screen, the Mumba Blade Series case is a no-brainer. It might not look as aesthetically pleasing as other third-party options on the market, such as the refined Spigen Rugged Armor (also $30), but this is far more adaptable. The Mumba Blade Series Dockable Case for Switch 2. Too many cases — however lovely they are — don't fit the dock, but this has some very clever shaping that lets it drop in seamlessly. It also features a quick-release Joy-Con mode that allows you to detach them without needing to remove the entire case. It's sturdy and non-slip, but doesn't overcomplicate itself to such a degree that it can only be used by shovel-handed people like me — it's excellent for smaller palms, and the curves are comfortable enough for longer sessions. Best cheap Joy-Con charging stand: Venom Charging Station for Switch 2 ($23) The Switch 2 charging dock market is a bit crowded, especially for something that's a luxury — after all, you can just slap them back on the console and charge via the console dock. Still, Venom's offering takes up little space on whatever surface you pop them on, while also using their magnets to keep them in place. The Venom Twin Charging Dock for Switch 2. Availability is limited outside of Europe, but there are other good options available, including another dependable stand from Snakebyte with its Twin Charge S2, even if it's your classic flat-lay option. If you're made of money and somehow already own four Joy-Con 2s, don't be seduced by the four-way chargers that look like bodega magazine racks — my friend bought one with the best of intentions, only to immediately put two of his four controllers back on the Switch 2 at the end of a gaming session, rendering his quad stand pretty useless. Are there any recommendations that you have for other affordable Switch 2 accessories? Leave me a comment, or get in touch with me through the links below.

I tried this trippy-looking Xbox controller from PowerA and it takes RGB lighting to a whole different level
The right controller can make or break the experience of playing your favorite games. That's why when I sit down in front of my PC or console, I prefer playing with a pro controller over a standard one thanks to all their extra features. From remappable back buttons you can customize to your liking to thumbsticks with Hall Effect sensors that are less likely to develop stick drift, spending a bit more to upgrade to a pro controller is absolutely worth it in my opinion. It also beats buying one stock controller after another when their buttons or thumbsticks eventually wear out. I've tried a lot of the best PC game controllers over the years and besides pro-level features, many of them have started incorporating built-in RGB lighting into their designs. From subtle customizable lighting near their home buttons to lightstrips that wrap all the way around, controllers with RGB lighting have come a long way in a short time. Just when I thought I had seen it all though, I came across the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller for Xbox Series X/S and PC. Like other pro controllers I've tested, this one is feature-packed and comes with a carrying case. However, once I switched on its RGB lighting, I couldn't take my eyes off everything you need to know about this one-of-a-kind controller and why its unique design takes RGB lighting to a whole new level. This controller works wirelessly on both Xbox and PC while packing in all of the pro-level features like remappable back buttons, Hall Effect thumbsticks and trigger locks you'd expect at this price. You also get a carrying case and a magnetic charging stand in the box. However, it's PowerA's one-of-a-kind RGB Ghost Lighting that really makes this controller Check: $89 used at Amazon Renewed One thing you can count on if you do decide to pick up a pro controller is that it will come with a lot of accessories. The PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller is no different and in addition to a carrying case, you also get a controller stand with a magnetic wireless charger. However, if space is limited on your entertainment center or desk, you can simply detach the magnetic wireless charger and use it on its own. At first glance, the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller doesn't look all that different from your standard Xbox controller. On closer inspection, you can see that it has anti-friction rings around its Hall Effect-equipped thumbsticks and that you have microphone controls at the bottom of the controller above its 3.5mm audio jack. Unlike on the Xbox Elite Series 2 pro controller though, you get a dedicated screenshot button instead of a button to switch profiles. The included charging stand has another trick up its sleeve too. Around back, there's a slot where you can store the controller's wireless USB adapter. The PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller also features Bluetooth but if you're playing on Xbox, you'll need this adapter to use the controller wirelessly. While I love having a place to store the adapter, there isn't actually a USB port in the stand to plug it into. This is a small gripe though and if you plug the adapter into the back of your Xbox, you'll never actually see it. Although the front of the controller has a standard look to it, flipping the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller over reveals even more of its pro-level features. There are rubber grips on the backside of its handles to make it easier to hold and towards the center of the controller, you get four remappable back buttons. Up top, trigger locks allow for faster actuation which shortens their pull distance and can be very useful when playing first-person shooters. What sets PowerA's pro and enhanced controllers apart from the competition is that you can use the buttons around back to customize their remappable buttons on the fly. Sure, there is an app (more on that later) but being able to quickly reprogram your back buttons depending on the game you're playing is a very useful feature. Many pro controllers come with swappable thumbsticks as some people prefer having one higher or lower than the other for more precise aiming in first-person shooters. This also gives you a greater range of motion and can help reduce thumb fatigue for some gamers. Instead of swappable thumbsticks you can misplace if you don't put them carefully away in a carrying case, PowerA has started doing things differently with its latest controllers. By gripping the thumbsticks of the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller with two fingers and twisting, you can adjust their height without having to take them or the controller's faceplate off. There are three different height settings on this controller and I found that swapping between them was not only fast but also quite easy to do. I was already quite impressed with the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller based on its pro-level features alone. However, once I charged it up and connected it to my Xbox, that's when things took a turn on the trippy side. Hiding underneath its black exterior, the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller has what the company is calling Ghost RGB Lighting and I think that's definitely a fitting name for it. With its RGB lighting disabled, the controller has a stealth look to it but when you turn it on, not only are you greeted with a rainbow of colors, there's also a really cool (and certainly trippy) pattern lurking beneath its surface. Just like with PowerA's previous Lumectra-equipped controllers, this one features four customizable lighting zones that extend across the controller starting from left to right. Zone 1 is located on the controller's left handle, Zone 2 extends from the top left corner to the middle, Zone 3 goes from the middle to the top right corner and Zone 4 is located on the right handle. Like with its remappable back buttons, you can customize the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller's RGB lighting and effects right on the controller. By default, its RGB lighting is set to Rainbow and uses a Wave effect across the entire controller. This makes the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller almost appear as if it's breathing. As its hidden pattern is abstract by design, trying to figure out what it actually depicts adds to the controller's trippiness. At times I could see what appeared to be an animal's face in the center but when I looked away from the controller, I saw something completely different in its pattern. If you prefer to avoid the trial-and-error process of remapping back buttons or adjusting RGB lighting directly on the controller, the PowerA Gamer HQ app is available for Xbox and PC to simplify things. It lets you do all of this, along with testing or calibrating the controller, changing audio or vibration settings, and setting dead zones for its thumbsticks. PowerA's app worked well enough but it certainly threw me through a loop at first. The reason being is that instead of having its menu items on the top and letting you navigate through them using the controller's bumpers, they're located on the side. Fortunately, once you figure out how to remap those back buttons on the controller itself, it's a fairly simple process. Quickly changing the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller's lighting modes this way is pretty easy too, though I did prefer using the app when coming up with more complex color combinations for its hidden pattern. As for using the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller on Xbox and PC, everything worked great and it felt very comfortable in hand. Granted, I have been using the company's Fusion pro controllers since back when they were only available in a wired configuration. I really like having four remappable back buttons so I don't have to take my thumbs off the controller's joysticks at all since I usually map them to the ABXY face buttons. In regard to its Lumectra lighting, I found it really stood out in a dark room at night, even if it was a little distracting at times. During the day though, it's more of a light glow than a full-on light show like in the picture above. Besides having the PowerA Fusion Pro Wireless Controller's full pattern lit up, you can also have parts of the controller light up when you hit certain buttons. I liked using it this way as I could immediately tell when a particular button was pressed. For those times when I wanted some extra light but with fewer distractions, you can also have the controller emit a steady glow and I really liked how this looked with the controller's RGB lighting set to plain white. These days, there are a ton of different options when it comes to picking up a pro controller for one of the best gaming PCs. However, it's a different story on Xbox where wireless third-party controllers (and especially pro-level ones) are few and far between thanks to Microsoft's own restrictions. The company has opened the gates a bit in recent years but due to its licensing fees, you're always going to pay a bit more for a PC controller that also works wirelessly on Xbox. If you're a big fan of RGB or just want to add a pop of psychedelic color to your gaming setup, it's a great controller that comes with plenty of useful accessories like its magnetic charging stand and carrying case in the box. The PowerA Fusion Pro gives you the best of both worlds and its included wireless USB adapter makes it easy to quickly switch between PC or Xbox. If you're a big fan of RGB or just want to add a pop of psychedelic color to your gaming setup, it's a great controller that comes with plenty of useful accessories like its magnetic charging stand and carrying case in the box. You are paying a premium for wireless connectivity support on Xbox though. If you like the look and features of this controller and primarily play on PC, I'd suggest picking up the $99 PowerA OPS v3 Pro instead. While its RGB lighting is a bit simpler, you can still customize it and tweak the colors of its various zones. You also get two additional programmable buttons next to the triggers on the top of the controller. At the same time, it does come with a magnetic charging stand but this one lays flat instead of propping your controller up. PowerA has done something quite different with its Fusion Pro Wireless Controller when it comes to its RGB lighting while still including all of the extra features you'd expect in a pro controller. Personally, I can't wait to see what the company comes up with next in regards to RGB lighting as this controller's hidden Ghost RGB Lighting is definitely going to be hard to top.

Why wait for Amazon Prime Day? These great Nintendo Switch deals are live right now
Whether you were lucky enough to score a just-released Nintendo Switch 2 or are still rocking your original model, now's a great time to get a jump on some early Amazon Prime Day Switch deals. And fortunately for you, I've been obsessively tracking Amazon deals since the system came out so that you don't have to waste any time getting right to some actual good sales. Some of my all-time favorite Switch games and accessories are discounted ahead of Prime Day, making it a great time to snag some essentials. Better yet, many of them will work on your new Switch 2, not to mention select titles have been enhanced to run even better on Nintendo's new console. So, while you wait for that next Nintendo Switch 2 restock (or if you're impatient and just want to save on an old Switch), here are some great Prime Day deals on games and gear worth buying now. Nintendo Switch OLED If you're tired of waiting for the Nintendo Switch 2 to come back in stock — or you just never jumped on the Switch train — the Switch OLED is still a fantastic console in 2025. Its OLED screen is more vibrant than even the Switch 2 display, and it'll still get plenty of big upcoming Nintendo games like Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends Z-A. Read our review PowerA Nintendo Switch Wired Controller PowerA makes some of our favorite Switch accessories, and this officially licensed wired controller is an absolute bargain at this close-to-lowest price. It's perfect if you need a spare gamepad for multiplayer sessions, and it'll work with both your Switch and Switch 2. PowerA Enhanced Nintendo Switch Controller Wireless If you want something more premium but don't want to shell out upwards of $85 for Nintendo's Pro Controller, PowerA's Enhanced Wireless gamepad is an excellent choice. On top of offering many of the same key features as Nintendo's controller, it also sports two programmable back buttons that are especially great for competitive gamers. It comes in a variety of themes too. CRKD Nitro Deck+ We dug the original Nitro Deck as a way to make your old Nintendo Switch feel bigger, beefier and more ergonomic, and the new Nitro Deck+ adds a new symmetrical joystick layout and supports docked TV play via an adapter. Put one of these on your Switch and you might just feel a little less FOMO toward your friends who have a Switch 2 already. Orzly Nintendo Switch Carry Case In my eight years of tracking Switch accessories, I still haven't seen a case more popular and well reviewed by customers than this Orzly model. It's got storage for your Switch or Switch OLED, up to eight game cards and multiple sets of Joy-Cons and cables for playing on the go, all of which can be had for a near-lowest price right now. The company also just dropped a new Switch 2 version of its case. SanDisk 256GB microSDXC Card Licensed for Nintendo Switch Every Switch owner should have a microSD card given how quickly digital games can eat up your storage. SanDisk makes my favorite ones, and this model gets you a generous 256GB of extra space complete with some cute Pikachu artwork for a good price. Just note that this card will not work on your Switch 2; you'll need a pricier microSD express card for expanding storage on Nintendo's new console. Super Mario Odyssey Super Mario Odyssey is unquestionably one of the best Nintendo Switch games of all time and a must-play for anyone who's into things like fun and joy. We've seen it discounted more in the past, but it's still a great game for this current on-sale price, especially now that it's gotten a nice performance update for the Switch 2. Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury As well deserved as the hype around Odyssey is, this Mario game — which delivers a beautiful four-player hybrid of 2D and 3D Mario gameplay — remains one of my favorites in the franchise. The Bowser's Fury expansion essentially adds an entire second game to the mix, and the whole thing has been updated for Switch 2 with better performance and GameShare support so you can more easily play with friends. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom An underrated gem, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom takes the classic top-down Zelda formula and flips it on its head by finally letting you play as the series' titular princess with her own unique range of abilities. It's also one of many Nintendo games that's gotten enhanced for the Switch 2. Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics I don't think there's a single game I logged more hours in last year than this collection, which brings together the entire Marvel vs. Capcom franchise in all its chaotic comic book combat glory. It's a must for both Marvel fans and fighting-game enthusiasts, especially at this lowest-ever price. While this current batch of early Prime Day Switch deals are relatively modest, they include a few lowest or close-to-lowest prices on some of the best accessories and games for the system. Deals on Nintendo hardware are especially rare, so we're happy to also see a discount on the excellent Nintendo Switch OLED. And with Nintendo Switch 2 games and accessories only getting more expensive, this is a great chance to stock up on some great backwards-compatible titles and gear for your new console. CNN Underscored has a team of writers and editors who have many years of experience testing, researching and recommending products, and they ensure each article is carefully edited and products are properly vetted. Senior tech editor Mike Andronico has been covering gaming for more than a decade and has put nearly as many hours into tracking Nintendo Switch deals as he has into playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This newly revealed PowerA Nintendo Switch 2 controller could be a worthy budget Pro Controller alternative
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Accessory maker PowerA has revealed its Nintendo Switch 2 line up It includes a wired controller with Hall effect thumbsticks, plus a case and screen protector All items are officially licensed and will be available in June Gaming accessory brand PowerA has revealed its new line of licensed Nintendo Switch 2 accessories. Available in June, the line includes the Advantage Wired Controller for Nintendo Switch 2, Slim Case for Nintendo Switch 2, and Screen Protector 2-Pack for Nintendo Switch 2. The Advantage Wired Controller will be offered in three colorways: a plain Black, the Super Mario inspired Mario Time or the colorful Mushroom Kingdom. All variants feature Hall effect thumbstick modules, which should help prevent drift. Nintendo has previously confirmed that the official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller does not include Hall effect components, so this could be a huge advantage for PowerA. At $39.99, the PowerA offering is also much cheaper than the Nintendo one - though there is a big catch. This is a wired-only controller, so can only be used when it's plugged in. It does, however, benefit from the addition of on-board audio controls, with multiple presets to choose from (including a Bass Boost mode) and the ability to quickly mute your microphone. As you might expect, it comes with two remappable rear inputs. These can be adjusted on the fly without the need for any software. The Slim Case is then a $19.99 carrying case, with a subtle dark grey aesthetic and subtle red stitching. It's got space for the Nintendo Switch 2 console in addition to up to ten physical games, plus includes a built-in play stand for tabletop mode. Finally, the Screen Protector is, well, a screen protector. You get two in each pack plus a Nintendo Switch 2 branded cleaning cloth, which isn't a bad deal for its $12.99 asking price. Although there will undoubtedly be generic cases and screen protectors available for slightly cheaper, I find that it's always worth paying a little more for licensed products for the added peace of mind. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch on June 5, 2025. It costs $449.99 / £395.99 on its own, or $499.99 / £429.99 for a bundle that includes a copy of Mario Kart World.
