Tired of too many ads? go ad free now During the drive, the team thoroughly checked various documents such as fitness certificates, permits, insurance, PUC (pollution under control) and tax certificates. The team also conducted an intensive check for other violations, including overloading, overcharging passengers, and the absence of a speed governor. The buses were seized from Patel Pratima, Madhumilan Chauraha, Ring Road, and Musakhedi. Some were found picking up passengers in the middle of the road, while others were parked for cleaning and repairs, causing public inconvenience. The team also took the opportunity to encourage citizens to get high-security registration plates for their vehicles. The administration has appealed to bus operators to run their services only from designated stops, warning that action would continue against violators. Indore RTO sets record, recovers over Rs 1.5 crore in one day In a record-breaking effort, Indore RTO recovered more than Rs 1.52 crore outstanding motor vehicle tax in a single day. The collection was made from 91 vehicles with pending dues, following a targeted campaign. Regional transport officer Pradeep Sharma said a special plan was devised to recover the pending tax. 29 repeat traffic offenders lose vehicle registrations
Indore: Indore regional transport office (RTO), in a first-of-its-kind initiative in Madhya Pradesh, on Friday cancelled the registrations of 29 vehicles for repeated traffic offences. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This decisive move follows a review meeting of the Integrated Traffic Management System (ITMS) held on July 1, 2025, chaired by collector Asheesh Singh, where a decision was made to take strict action against traffic rule infringements. Consequently, the registrations of these 29 vehicles, which repeatedly violated rules and posed a threat to public safety, were revoked today. Under the ITMS, the police department consistently issued e-challans since November 3, 2023, using city-wide surveillance cameras. An analysis of data provided by the police department revealed that some vehicle owners repeatedly committed serious violations such as red-light jumping and triple riding. Indore Smart City Development Limited identified 31 such repeat traffic violators and submitted their list to the RTO office. Notices were issued to these vehicle owners, providing them an opportunity to present their case. However, 29 vehicle owners failed to appear within the stipulated time frame. As a result, their registrations were cancelled on Friday under Section 55(3) of Central Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The remaining two cases are still under consideration. Indore RTO Pradeep Sharma said that this action is not only the first of its kind in the state but also signals a firm stance. He emphasised that repeat traffic offenders will not be spared under any circumstances. Sharma highlighted that previously, only driving licences were cancelled for such offences, but this new measure of vehicle registration cancellation is a significant step forward in the field of road safety. "This decision is expected to be a milestone in making Indore's roads safer, more organised, and convenient for the public," he said.

31 vehicles likely to lose registration for repeated traffic violations
Indore: Taking a firm stand against habitual traffic offenders, Indore Transport Department began the process of cancelling registrations of vehicles for violating traffic norms more than 10 times. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Collector Asheesh Singh had issued instructions during a recent review meeting of Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) to initiate strict action against drivers who repeatedly flouted traffic rules. He had specifically asked Regional Transport Officer (RTO) to commence proceedings for cancellation of vehicle registrations of repeat offenders. Following the directives, Transport Department has issued notices to 31 vehicle owners, informing them of the impending cancellation of their vehicle registrations. Regional Transport Officer Pradeep Sharma confirmed receiving a list of 31 vehicles that include bus, four-wheelers, and two-wheelers, from Indore Smart City Development Ltd that manages ITMS. These vehicles have accumulated at least 10 serious traffic violations each, including repeated red-light jumping and other significant infractions. The owners of all these vehicles have been asked to respond to the RTO notices within seven days. The notice states that if a satisfactory response was not provided within the stipulated time, the vehicle registration would first be suspended and subsequently cancelled. "Once the vehicle registration is cancelled, the same can't be plied on the road and if found, it would be seized," Sharma said. Singh emphasised that adherence to traffic rules was mandatory for maintaining traffic discipline and controlling road accidents. He reiterated that strict action would be taken against those who repeatedly violate the rules. This initiative is seen as a important step towards making Indore a city with a safer and more streamlined traffic system, he said.
