ISRO, RTGS collaborate to use satellite tech for citizen-centric governance in Andhra Pradesh

VIJAYAWADA: The Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) on Monday to enhance the State's real-time monitoring capabilities. SHAR Director Rajarajan and RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain formalised the agreement, which aims to strengthen the AWARE platform with satellite imagery and scientific data inputs. The collaboration will support 42 applications in sectors including agriculture, weather forecasting, disaster management, and urban planning. The AWARE platform integrates data from satellites, drones, IoT devices, sensors, and CCTV networks, disseminating alerts via SMS, WhatsApp, media, and social platforms. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, sharing details on X, called the partnership a 'landmark move' in using space technology for citizen-focused governance. In another high-level meeting, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu discussed a strategic roadmap for transforming Andhra Pradesh into a global technology hub with a NASSCOM delegation.

RTGS and SHAR sign MoU for leveraging space technologies

The Real Time Governance Society (RTGS) of Andhra Pradesh and the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday for leveraging space technologies to facilitate real-time citizen-centric governance. The MoU was signed in the presence of SHAR Director A. Rajarajan and RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain. In a message posted on X, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the collaboration would enhance RTGS's AWARE (AP Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Centre) platform with satellite imagery and scientific inputs across 42+ applications across agriculture, weather, disaster management and urban planning. The Chief Minister highlighted that AWARE integrates data from satellites, drones, Internet of Things, sensors, mobile feeds, and CCTV to deliver real-time alerts and advisories to citizens and the government via SMS, WhatsApp, media and social media.

Vijayawada: A delegation from Southeast African nation of Malawi visited the Central Command and Control Room of the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS) at AP Secretariat on Wednesday. Representatives from the Malawi National Water Resources Authority came to study the effective policies adopted by Andhra Pradesh in water resource monitoring. As part of their visit, the delegation toured the RTGS facility. RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain welcomed the visitors and explained the functioning of RTGS. He detailed the technological services provided by the organization to ensure seamless implementation of government programs and schemes to the public. He stated that RTGS serves as a bridge between the government and the people. Prakhar Jain also explained how public grievances received through the grievance redressal platform are being resolved. Dwight Kambuku, CEO of the Malawi National Water Resources Authority, praised the operations of RTGS, calling it exemplary. He remarked that such a technologically advanced system, established to provide better services to the public, is a model for all. RTGS Deputy CEO M Madhuri and others were present.
