Peaky Blinders auction of original costumes raises £19k for cancer charity

The suit, which came with a handwritten note on a piece of script found in a pocket which says: 'takes off ring', sold for £1,650. The highest price of £3,000 was fetched by a three-piece woollen suit, also worn by Murphy as Tommy Shelby, which comes with a label reading 'Tommy suit C'. A hat worn by Sam Claflin, who played fascist MP Oswald Mosley during series five and six, sold for £180, and a coat worn by the late Helen McCrory as Shelby family matriarch Polly Gray in episode four of series three sold for £650. Helen McCrory attending the Peaky Blinders Series Five World Premiere held at Birmingham Town Hall (Jacob King/PA) Other auctioned costumes and accessories included Tommy Shelby's wedding suit in episode one of the third season, which sold for £1,600, an embroidered jacket worn by Aimee Ffion Edwards as Esme Shelby in season six, sold for £240, as well as hats, dresses, ties, and shoes from the hit show. The Omega Auctions sale ran for four weeks from April 22. It concluded on May 20 with a themed event held at the Peaky Blinders bar on Peter Street in Manchester, featuring costume displays and live bidding. All proceeds from the auction have gone to The Christie Charity, which supports cancer patients and research at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. Oscar-winner Murphy is set to reprise his role as Birmingham gangster Shelby in a film set after the final season of the show, which ran from 2013 to 2022. Across six series, Peaky Blinders tackled the rise of fascism, Irish republican politics, and communist activities through the period following the First World War, along with Shelby's political ambitions. The sequel movie written by the show's creator and screenwriter Steven Knight is due for release this autumn.

LOOK: Tyler Warren, Riley Leonard in full Indianapolis Colts' uniform for first time We got our first look at Tyler Warren and Riley Leonard in their full Colts' uniforms during the NFLPA's Rookie Premiere event. We got our first look at Indianapolis Colts first-round pick, Tyler Warren, and sixth-round pick, Riley Leonard, in their full uniforms during the NFLPA's Rookie Premiere event. In total, there were 42 attendees at this year's event, with 40 of them being either quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, or tight ends. The lone defenders at the event were defensive ends Abdul Carter and Mykel Williams. "The Premiere is one of the most valuable opportunities available to NFLPA partners as it's the first point of contact to connect directly with professional football's most promising and marketable young players – at a single unique event – to build content and relationships for the season and beyond," per the NFLPA site. The addition of Warren to the Colts' offense will provide the offense with needed pass-catching help from the tight end position. But his well-rounded skill set will allow him to impact the game in a variety of ways. With Leonard, he will have the opportunity to develop and continue to grow this season behind Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones. Leonard was on the Colts' radar throughout the pre-draft process and could become a long-term backup option for the team.

Cara Delevingne's thong is on full display in plunging see-through mesh maxi dress that is peak indie sleaze

We all know fashion is cyclical, and the latest trend making a comeback is none other than indie sleaze. Information that probably won't come as much of a surprise, given the warning signs have been around for a while now. Charli XCX's Brat Girl Summer was one of the first indicators – the no bra, white tank top and smudged eyeliner uniform is almost identical to that of the grunge aesthetic of indie sleaze. For further confirmation, you need only to look at Cara Delevingne's latest outfit. The model-turned-actress attended the Ocean With David Attenborough World Premiere at The Royal Festival Hall in London last night [Tuesday 6 May] wearing an ensemble that was peak indie sleaze. Specifically, a totally transparent silver mesh maxi dress that featured a dangerously plunging neckline, with Cara opting to go braless. Perhaps the most indie sleaze aspect of her look was the fact her lacy black thong was on full display, clearly seen through the see-through fabric. Shane Anthony Sinclair - Getty Images Stuart C. Wilson - Getty Images Cara layered a long black blazer over the top of the risqué design, adding dark green velvet platform heels on her feet. She accessorised with a quirky statement necklace that depicted a bird in flight with three crystal pendants suspended from its wings. Dave Benett - Getty Images Cara and Charli aren't the only celebrities repping the indie sleaze look in 2025. Olivia Rodrigo has crafted a distinct grunge wardrobe both on and off stage that aligns perfectly with her pop punk music. ADVERTISEMENT Similarly, Addison Rae is embracing a 'messy girl' undone vibe as she takes to Instagram to post filtered selfies wearing wired headphones in aid of promoting her soon-to-be-released album. As much as fashion played a large role in the initial indie sleaze movement, it was intrinsically linked to music, so it's no wonder many artists are tapping into the revival. Outside of music, all around icon Julia Fox is another A-lister giving indie sleaze new meaning in 2025, along with models of the moment Lila Moss and Amelia Gray. But the most surprising celeb backer is Timothée Chalamet. The press tour for his latest film, A Complete Unknown, in which Timmy portrays a 19-year-old Bob Dylan, saw him don skinny jeans, leather suits, full tracksuits and most significantly, an Alexander McQueen skull scarf earlier this year. Andreas Rentz - Getty Images Worn in the early '00s by everyone from the Olsen twins and Lindsay Lohan to Nicole Richie and Lily Allen, there is perhaps no better visual signifier of indie sleaze than the skull scarf that first appeared in McQueen's spring/summer 2003 collection. Whether you'll be following suit on the fashion front or not, consider this your green light to embrace a bit of messiness. ADVERTISEMENT You Might Also Like
