I test mattresses for a living — my all-time favorite is now $400 off in 4th of July sales

I've been a professional mattress tester for over four years and have slept on every type of bed in that time, and there's one I can't stop recommending: the Saatva Classic. This luxury innerspring hybrid delivers a brilliant balance of support versus comfort for the price, and for the 4th of July we've secured a juicy discount for Tom's Guide readers: save $400 on any size Saatva Classic at Saatva. That's double the saving on the smaller sizes compared to what you'd get in the brand's general public sale (just $200 off twin sizes). With $400 off a queen, the Classic now costs $1,699 (was $2,099) in this year's 4th of July sales, matching the cheapest price I saw it sell for during all of last year's big holiday sales (it was slightly cheaper at $1,695 in February's Presidents' Day sale). Saatva Classic: twin was $1,399 now $999 at Saatva In our Saatva Classic mattress review we awarded this luxury bed a full 5 out of 5 stars, declaring it the top recommended choice in our best mattress of 2025 guide. $400 off is the best Saatva mattress sale offer you'll get on the Classic for the 4th of July, reducing a twin to $999 (was $1,399) and a queen to $1,699 (was $2,099). I don't expect to see these prices again until Labor Day – and that's only if mattress tariffs don't send costs soaring indefinitely – so if you need a new mattress and want the Saatva Classic and for the cheapest price, this is the deal to consider. Our review: ★★★★★ User score: ★★★★★ (4,000+ reviews) The Saatva Classic is available in two heights (11.5' or 14.5') and three feels (Plush Soft, Luxury Firm, Firm), and it comes with a 365-night sleep trial, lifetime warranty, and free installation and old bed removal (the Classic is a flat-shipped mattress that comes via free White Glove Delivery). I slept on the Saatva Classic for seven months and recommend it as the best hybrid mattress for most people looking to increase their sleep comfort. It ticks a lot of boxes for me, including comfortable lumbar support, how easy it is to move around on, and how well it isolates motion (my husband stays up later than me, then drops like a stone when getting into bed). The edge support is very robust – the strongest I've tested – and the pressure relief is faultless (I have zero painful pressure points when lying on this bed). While not an active cooling mattress the Classic regulates temperature incredibly well, meaning there are no hot spots across the mattress. And as someone who overheats easily on the wrong mattress, effective temperature regulation is very important to my sleep comfort. For a slightly cheaper cooling hybrid, consider the Bear Elite priced $1.457 (was $2,427) at Bear. The Luxury Firm Saatva Classic would suit couples and average weight sleepers regardless of the position they sleep on. Heavier sleepers, especially back and stomach sleepers, might fare better on the harder Firm Classic, while people who weigh under 130lbs (especially side sleepers) will likely feel more comfortable on the Plush Soft. While the Saatva Classic ticks every box for support, performance, comfort and value for money, it doesn't suit everyone's budget. If you need a cheaper hybrid bed that offers good lumbar support, a cooler feel and a durable build, I recommend the DreamCloud Classic. I slept on the previous version of this mattress for three months and found that while it wasn't as instantly comfy as the Saatva, it was an excellent performer for the price – it's over $1,000 cheaper at $665 for a queen plus you get $599 of free bedding. Here's more… DreamCloud Classic: twin was $1,014 now $399 at DreamCloudThe DreamCloud Classic is the highest-rated option in our best mattress in a box guide thanks to its unbeatable price versus performance dynamic. It isn't as polished as the Saatva, but considering it costs a fraction of the price at $665 for a queen, it's well worth considering for smaller budgets. I have the previous model in my guest room and all of my family and friends have loved sleeping on it. My only bugbear is that some mattress protectors get bunched up on the deeply quilted cover, but that isn't a dealbreaker. The benefits are similar to Saatva's too, with a year's trial and a forever warranty, but the free shipping is basic (no installation here). The $599 of free bedding is fantastic value though, and as this is a common deal in the DreamCloud mattress sale you don't have to rush your decision to buy. 'America's comfiest mattress for nearly all sleepers' is now $400 off ahead of the 4th of July sales

The Saatva Classic is our top pick for most sleepers wanting to upgrade their sleep comfort, and as of today the Classic is $400 off at Saatva thanks to our VIP discount. This deal saves you up to $200 more on the Classic compared to what you'll save in the general public Saatva sale, with a queen priced $1,699 (was $2,099). Just use our link above to see this new lower price. Claire Davies, our Managing Editor of Sleep who spent seven months sleeping on the Saatva Classic, says it revolutionized her sleep, and we rate it as the best mattress of 2025 overall. $1,699 for a queen is the price we see it sell for during most holiday sales – it was $4 cheaper at $1,695 during Presidents' Day, but we don't expect the Classic to fall any lower for the 4th July sales. Below we take a closer look at this deal, but if you have a smaller budget our guide to this month's best mattress sales has good options for less. Saatva Classic twin was $1,399 now $999 at Saatva"America's comfiest mattress for nearly all sleepers" is how our Senior Sleep Editor Claire described Saatva's flagship model in our Saatva Classic mattress review. We awarded it full marks, labelling it the best hybrid mattress you can buy. This luxury innerspring comes in three feels and two heights, making it one of the most versatile beds on the market, with integrated spinal support to alleviate back pain (Claire found "relief from hip and lower back pain" when sleeping on it). Our VIP discount will save you up to $200 more on the Classic compared to what you'd save in this month's Saatva mattress sale. A queen costs $1,699 (was $2,099), matching the cheapest prices of every major holiday except Presidents' Day (where it was only $4 cheaper). The mattress has excellent benefits too: a year's trial, lifetime warranty, and free installation plus old mattress and frame removal. Our review: ★★★★★ User score: ★★★★★ (4,000+ reviews) After a seven month testing period the Saatva Classic mattress earned a rare full marks from our expert team — everyone from our lightweight side sleeper to our dedicated stomach sleeper had something to praise the Classic for. The Saatva Classic is the best luxury mattress we've tested and uses a dense pillow top combined with a dual spring base to deliver comfort akin to the types of mattresses used in hotels. A five star sleep experience, the breathable Classic remains a neutral temperature overnight, making it a good choice for hot weather. And while the feel is bouncy (similar to a traditional innerspring) our lead tester shares a bed with her husband and sometimes her toddler and was impressed with the motion isolation of the Classic. Combined with the crowd pleasing feel, we feel it's a good mattress for couples. We see Saatva sales throughout the year but $400 off when you spend $1,000 tends to be reserved for special occasions — this is an unusually good 4th of July sale from the brand. And with mattress tariffs likely to increase the MSRP over summer, this could be the cheapest price we see for months. DreamCloud Classic: twin $399 at DreamCloudDreamCloud's flagship hybrid is our top-rated mattress in a box for all sleepers, delivering comfort and support beyond its affordable price tag. Only $699 for a queen in the year-round DreamCloud mattress sale, our DreamCloud mattress review team found it most comfortable for back sleeping but we think this is a bed that will suit the majority of sleep styles (although side sleepers might need to break it in.) It's not as all-round impressive as the Saatva above but if you don't have the budget for a luxury bed, this is an excellent alternative. Plus, it comes with a year's trial and lifetime warranty. The woman stuck between Trump and Musk

When Elon Musk arrived at the White House he came with his own personal guide to Washington. Katie Miller had been a key figure in the first Trump White House, handling communications for Mike Pence, the vice-president, and she brought strong relationships with the loyalists in the second Trump White House – not least her husband Stephen, deputy chief of staff and a figure often thought of as the administration's 'prime minister'. In January she was back, taking on a role with the Department of Government Efficiency that made her Mr Musk's 'sherpa'. Now she is caught in the middle of an extraordinary political uncoupling. She left the administration with Mr Musk last week to work for him full time. But with the world's richest man falling out with the president she finds herself at the centre of intrigue, her personal life picked over, and with former allies wondering where her loyalties lie. 'Ultimately, Katie is super loyal,' said an official who knew her in the first Trump White House. 'It's that loyalty that allows her to be a fierce, effective defender, whether that was Mike Pence or that's Trump or now Elon Musk. 'But that loyalty is going to be put to the test. I think that there probably is a breaking point.' Katie Waldman, as she was then, joined the White House in 2019 during Mr Trump's first term, bringing a bite to a mild mannered vice-president's operation. She became a familiar sight, chastising reporters for unfavourable coverage or awkward questions. She found love with Stephen Miller, who was growing in influence as a speechwriter and architect of the president's hardline immigration stance. Mr Trump attended the wedding at his Washington DC hotel in early 2020. 'He is the only one who could have a damn wedding in the middle of Presidents' Day weekend,' Mr Trump reportedly said. Mr Miller stayed with the former president through his wilderness years after defeat in that year's election. But his wife was quietly edged out of Mr Pence's team as he prepared for his own presidential run. Her combative style put her at odds with Karen Pence, the former second lady. That may only have helped her standing in Trump world, where the Pences became hate figures after the vice-president refused to declare Mr Trump the winner of the 2020 election. She was one of the first of the president-elect's appointments, named to the Doge advisory board. She was allowed to keep up consulting work, even as she took on the role of 'special government employee'. 'People were nervous about Elon and his energy,' said one insider. 'Katie's presence went a long way to reassuring everyone.' Some White House insiders made sure to keep out of Mr Musk's way. They had seen Mr Trump's relationships blow up before, but Mrs Miller was central to the tech billionaire's role. 'Her husband also looked out for Mr Musk. The tech billionaire reportedly spent large amounts of time with the Millers, making them a power couple at the heart of the White House. That is until Mr Musk said he was leaving his role. With her 130 days as a 'special government employee' coming to an end, she reportedly followed him to work for him full time. But if she thought she would be the billionaire's bridge to the White House, things became a lot more complicated. As the row unfolded, Mr Musk apparently unfollowed Mrs Miller's husband on X. That said, the former official from the first Trump White House, would have left Mrs Miller in a deeply awkward position. 'I don't think she can sit there when he's tweeting out 'You wouldn't have been able to win without me',' he said. 'There is probably a limit to her ability to stand that.' Is Juneteenth still a federal holiday? Confusion surrounds Trump administration's anti-DEI push

With Memorial Day weekend behind us, many are already looking ahead to the next federal holiday—or simply their next day off. The next day off work, not too far, is on June 19, also known as Juneteenth. This day became a federal holiday in 2021, when former President Joe Biden signed bipartisan legislation into law. Here is more about this day. Short for June nineteenth, Juneteenth is a day that many celebrate for the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in Texas in 1865. No, the holiday is not banned. However, this year, some Juneteenth events are being called off, and while the reasons vary, a few organizers are pointing to the shifting political landscape under President Donald Trump's leadership. There's no direct link between the Trump administration and the cancellations, but the renewed focus on limiting federal diversity and inclusion programs has stirred concern among some groups. According to Newsweek, here are several cities that have canceled Juneteenth celebrations: Indianapolis, IN Bend, OR Plano, IL Here are all of the 11 U.S. holidays: New Year's Day, Jan. 1 Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday, Jan. 20 Washington's Birthday/Presidents' Day, Feb. 17 Memorial Day, May 26 Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19 Independence Day, July 4 Labor Day, Sept. 1 Columbus Day, Oct. 13 Veterans' Day, Nov. 11 Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27 Christmas Day, Dec. 25 Vanessa Countryman is the Trending Topics Reporter for the the Deep South Connect Team Georgia.
