His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historic relationship between Bahrain and the United Kingdom during a key meeting in Washington, D.C., underscoring the strong partnership and growing cooperation between the two nations. Speaking from Blair House, the presidential guest residence, Prince Salman praised the UK's recent decision to join the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement, a strategic initiative led by Bahrain and the United States aimed at building a broader framework for security and economic collaboration in the Middle East. The agreement seeks to bring together like-minded countries to enhance regional security, strengthen deterrence against external threats, and promote collaboration in trade, science, and technology — ultimately supporting peace and prosperity in the region. HRH Prince Salman welcomed the UK's participation, calling it a key step in supporting regional stability and economic growth. He also expressed hope that more countries will join the agreement, helping to advance development goals that benefit all people in the region. The meeting was attended by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court, and several senior officials. Also present was Lord Peter Mandelson, the UK Ambassador to the United States. Prince Salman emphasized that Bahrain's longstanding ties with the UK continue to thrive and expand across all sectors. He stressed the importance of building on this momentum by creating new opportunities for partnership that serve the interests of both countries and their people. During the meeting, discussions also covered regional and global developments, as well as issues of shared interest between Bahrain and the United Kingdom. The gathering took place as part of Prince Salman's official visit to the United States, during which he is scheduled to meet President Donald J. Trump and senior members of the US administration.

Taqaddum Parliamentary bloc supports Tamkeen's new package of training and employment steps
The Taqaddum Parliamentary bloc has backed a new package of training and employment steps announced by Tamkeen, aimed at drawing more young Bahrainis into the health sector. The bloc described the move as long overdue and said it had been made possible by coordination between Parliament and the government, following directions from His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen). In a statement yesterday, the group said the seven steps, focused on doctors, dentists and nurses, would offer a real chance to those who have waited years for a foot in the door. Linking training with actual job placements, it added, could finally help bridge the long-standing gap between graduation and work for medical students. Taqaddum said the plans would not have seen daylight without the interest shown by the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the backing of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. It said both had helped move talks between the two branches of power into a workable set of actions. Hospitals and clinics across Bahrain, the bloc said, will need to lend a hand if the effort is to go beyond announcements. It warned that without buy-in from those doing the hiring, the plans could stall. Still, it voiced hope that practical decisions from the executive side would clear any snags and smooth the process for hospitals in both sectors. The group said it had long pushed for faster ways to absorb Bahrainis into key areas, especially healthcare. It pledged to keep backing any route that gives priority to locals in work placements, calling on the rest of the country's sectors to follow suit. Taqaddum called for every new job scheme to draw on past lessons, stressing that Bahrain's own people remain its best bet. Home-grown skill, it said, is the only way to keep the country steady, moving forward and on a firm path to growth.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to investing in local talent employed across all sectors. During the meeting, His Highness also issued directives to strengthen collaboration between Tamkeen and the Supreme Council of Health and launch a new support package aimed at developing and training national talent within the healthcare sector. This includes providing support for more than 750 Bahrainis, including doctors and nurses, to further improve capabilities and strengthen the sector's workforce. For his part, His Excellency Lieutenant General Doctor Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, expressed his appreciation for the royal support. Her Excellency Dr Jaleela bint Alsayed Jawad the Minister of Health, His Excellency Mr. Hamad bin Faisal Al Malki, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Tamkeen Chief Executive, along with a number of officials, also attended the meeting

Tamkeen and the Supreme Council of Health announce the launch of a support bundle for the healthcare sector targeting 750 Bahraini healthcare professionals
Following the directives of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Minister of the Prime Minister's Court and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), 'Tamkeen' announced the launch of a new healthcare support bundle targeting 750 Bahraini healthcare professionals. This initiative aligns with the Kingdom of Bahrain's government directives to support local medical professionals, thus enhancing their employment and career development prospects. It also follows the success of the previous healthcare support bundle launched last year, which benefited more than 700 Bahrainis in collaboration with the Supreme Council of Health. The support bundle comprises seven key initiatives. The first two focus on supporting Bahraini doctors in obtaining board certification in various medical specialties. The third initiative supports Bahraini doctors in joining medical fellowship programs to help them specialize in in-demand fields, preparing them to become medical consultants. Additionally, two initiatives are dedicated to supporting Bahraini nurses. One aims to develop national talent in the nursing field by sponsoring high school graduates to pursue a Bachelor of Nursing degree. The other focuses on helping Bahraini nurses obtain specialized qualifications in fields such as midwifery, critical care, cardiovascular care, nephrology, and emergency care. To broaden the scope of beneficiaries of this bundle, two new initiatives have been introduced for the first time—one to support dentists and another to support allied health professionals. On this occasion, Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund 'Tamkeen', stated: 'This second healthcare initiative builds on the positive impact of the first bundle launched last year, reflecting the vital role this sector plays in supporting the national economy. The healthcare sector is one of the most promising in the Kingdom, employing over 22,000 professionals across various roles and specialties. We remain committed to empowering national talent across all economic sectors by providing employment and career development opportunities to ensure they remain the first choice of employment in the labour market.' In addition, His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim Ali Al-Nawakhatha, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Health commended Tamkeen's role in supporting the healthcare sector, stating: 'This new and updated healthcare support bundle accommodates labor market demand for qualified national healthcare professionals. This year's initiatives, which include support for dentists and allied health professionals, will significantly enhance employment opportunities and career development prospects for Bahrainis in these disciplines. We extend our sincere gratitude to all partners, led by Tamkeen, for their continuous support of initiatives aimed at integrating and developing national talent in the healthcare sector.' Applications for fellowship, residency (board certification), dentistry, and allied health programs can be submitted through the Supreme Council of Health's website at Opportunities related to the Bachelor of Nursing program will be included in the scholarship plan to be announced by the Ministry of Education. Meanwhile, the opening of applications for nursing specialties at the University of Bahrain will be announced at a later stage. Tamkeen's support for the healthcare sector is in line with its 2025 strategic priorities, which focus on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability, and supporting the development of the ecosystem surrounding the labor market and private sector.
