Teen arrested for rape, sextortion of minor
Nagpur: A 19-year-old youth has been arrested by Ambazari police for allegedly raping and sexually blackmailing a 15-year-old minor girl. The accused, identified as Vaibhav Parate, a resident of Pachpaoli, was reportedly in a relationship with the victim for almost three months before the alleged crimes took place. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to police officials, the girl became friends with the victim online and eventually the duo came close, culminating in a full-fledged relationship. The said incidents occurred between May 3 and May 30, two to three months after they started dating, within the jurisdiction of Ambazari police station. Despite knowing that the victim was underage, Parate allegedly took advantage of her vulnerability and promised to marry her when they came of legal age, coercing the girl into sexual intercourse. He reportedly clicked photographs of the girl in compromising positions during this time. Following this, he regularly engaged in sexual intercourse with her against her will, blackmailing her with the photos. He went on to engage physical relations at multiple locations with the victim, again without her consent. He also later threatened to make her photos viral, using them to coerce her further. A senior cop told TOI that the investigation revealed that the accused frequently took the minor to various places, where he repeatedly assaulted her. Additionally, he allegedly defamed her on social media, further deepening the victim's distress. The victim eventually confided in her family, leading to a formal complaint being lodged with the police. Following the complaint, the Ambazari police registered a case against Parate under sections of the BNS and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Authorities are currently investigating the matter, and efforts are underway to determine whether any additional individuals were involved in the crime.
